- Joe talks with Jae Gruenke, Founder of The Balanced Runner,™ about how he tried everything to fix his IT band pain that appeared after he ran his fourth marathon. He tells how the pain on the outside of his knee made it impossible for him to run a block, the various things he tried to get rid of it, and how he found The Balanced Runner. He describes his experiences with Jae’s online running form coaching-what the process was like, how long it took for his pain to resolve completely, and two unexpected effects of using the Feldenkrais Method to improve his form.
Here's Jae’s best free resource to help you start to learn how to relieve your IT band pain: programs.balan...

I can only say that your approach works for me, just following your holistic principles. Stopped running a while ago, then began again, forgetting all about core action. Result: runner's knee for one month. Allowed my core to move smoothly and am running pain-free now.
Leave a comment below letting me know what you've done to try to get to the source of your problem. I'd love to know!
This is pure advertisement and misleading! How come you don't mention key exercises??!! WOW
@FaalloBT, Joe had a good experience and that is definitely promotional for my company, but there is nothing misleading about it.
the "exercises" Joe refers to are actually Feldenkrais lessons. There's no point mentioning them--it's not like they're clamshells or planks or something everybody knows. However you can try some of the exact lessons Joe did by using the link in the description to sign up for the free mini-course there.
Nice video. I would suggest to show before/after videos of your students running.
Hey I signed up for your courses had ITBS for over 4 years now done everything possible so I reverted to getting the ITB release surgery. Now unfortunately I formed ITB on my other leg is there a way to contact you personally to talk about it?
For sure. Reach out to me at jae (at) balancedrunner.com
Yep same thing for me. Had 1.5 year of IT band, after 3weeks of balanced runner I had no more pain. Still scared of it coming back after 8months pain free. IT band is the worst!
I also gain a good 30s per km on speed btw!
Good for you, I hope you get even better. However, IT band is not the worst, I would say lower back and hip pain hurt the most.
My pain starts 5-6 miles into the run on the side of my left knee. help
That's an IT Band problem.

@@balancedrunner thank you 🙏
So is this a commercial, or what did he actually do to fix his problem?
@jakob6977, this is a review of my coaching program, as you can see from the title of the video. But please scroll up to the video description and click "Show more" to find a link to my best free resource to help with your IT band. It's a great place to start, and for some people it's enough to solve the problem.
@@balancedrunner unfortunately when i click on the program and enroll for free nothing happens but an empty page. Is there another way to get it? I am suffering from IT band for more than 3 years and I can say I have tried everything that was possible but the best I could do in last 3 years was running 5k
@@winniethepooh1818 try a different browser. If something goes wrong in the signup process, that's usually the reason. If that doesn't work, try logging in from this page: programs.balancedrunner.com/. And if that doesn't work, email support@balancedrunner.com and we'll get you enrolled.
@@balancedrunner In a review you usually go into specifics of what works and what doesn't. This just address "The exercises" almost as if he was instructed not to be specific at all. This is the definition of a commercial. Not a review.
Jae your videos are lifechanging for me
