Viva! and Dean Farm Animal Sanctuary recently saved this family from slaughter and took them to their forever home in the beautiful Welsh countryside.
They are settling in wonderfully. Mum loves back rubs and rooting around in the straw; knowing her babies are safe. And we’re quickly finding out that her little piglets have big personalities!

My grandfather was a veterinary doctor graduated in 1939 in Poland. After the war, as a young doctor, he was sent to the butchery to check animals health. He saw something what shocked him: pigs were fighting before they were killed. Young sheeps were crying as they knew that they were about to die. He saw tears on their faces... In that moment, in Poland devastated by war, with starvation and poverty, he decided to be strict vegan. He told my sister many years later that he was trained to save animals life, not to kill them. He was the great animal supporter throughout his life. Even in the the 40s and early 50s when he was often hungry. Bless him

That's right. And listen to the mother pig grunting in the last shot while nursing her piglets. A mother pig feels a real happy bonding with her piglets while they nurse off her. And she loves her piglets unconditionally, they're very dear to her

So do I. And look how much this pig and piglets are grunting, and there's no squealing. Grunting means happiness and pleasure, squealing means distress and fear. They feel so happy and safe being at this sanctuary
Absolutely amazing. More people need to make this connection in-person, because I KNOW that if someone did, they would seriously think about the food on their plate

mom is probably so scared the kids will be taken from her which is why she wants them close. What joy to know she is about to experience looking after them until the grow up for the first time in her life. Thanks for what you do
You clearly don't know anything. A pig will forget their own kids, if parted from them for a day.
Oh I get it, farmer are you? Yea I'm not sure I'd take anecdotal evidence on animal behaviour off someone that views animals as products. Fuck off and find a new trade because your trade is on the decline. Accept it and fuck off instead of harassing people that care about animal cruelty.

Those piglets are like puppies the way they have to chew everything, even if it's not edible. They and Mom are darling.
I literally just commented on the video where Viva actually rescued these piggies. I noted how lifeless the mom's eyes were after years of abuse. In this video, she already seems like a completely different pig. It's like she realized she can be happy, probably something she'd never felt before.
"Our society dismisses so readily this mother baby bond." This is the essence and source of so much unhappiness in our human culture.
Thank you for these wonderful and inspiring videos. It is so easy to go vegan, it improve human health, and ends the cruelty to other sentient beings.

(forgive me if my spelling is off): Phileo: the love (bond, friendship) soldiers, lodge members or bowling club guys, whatever, have for each other; Eros: the passionate love a husband has for his wife; Storgoi: the LOVE a Mom has for her babies (until she dies); and Agape: the kind Jesus has for us (not expecting anything in return).
I'm a Mom & Grandma - Storgoi is the most powerful bond ever. You hear the stories of Moms lifting cars off babies, or the sow bear with her cubs being the most dangerous animal in the woods.
There's even a named coined for this, 'Moma Bears'. :)
I truly believe there's a growing awareness of animals' feelings and emotions - we're all part of the same "system" so it's only logical we take care of as much of its life, especially those which show intelligence. I believe in time it will be revealed that this includes most of not all life. There's one to ponder over the weekend....😉

You're amazing for this. Mama pig is so cute and I can see their lil personalities even through this video. Isn't it awful how each animal born into factory farming is born with a soul, just like any human, dog, cat, turtle etc? No soul should have to go through what slaughter animals go through.

I cry every time I see a truck full of these beautiful animals on the way to the slaughter house. I'm from Toronto Canada and I want to do more for these animals but don't know how I can without having my own sanctuary here in Toronto.
We know and understand. Being vegan you can save up to 11,000 animals in your lifetime though so every little helps.

MonicitaLezama it's because pigs are genetically modified to grow quick in captivity so they are sent to the slaughter house quicker. when they are rescued they grow to upwards of 1000 pounds. poor things, but at least they get to live out their lives.
But at least they will live together as a family and will get to do all the piggy things as they please :)

They are absolutely beautiful those piglets,and as you say julietta they need to be together mum and babies.What evil callous mind ever thought of devising a plan to keep mother in a prison like grasp of a viced crate where she can t even move and is trapped body and soul with only death to look forward to.AS IN FACTORY FARMING, IWe have acres and acre sof green fields in this country lying EMPTY. Those field s were created by GOD for animals as well as grain and produce off the land.
