I'd love a video of behind the scenes how the scrap yard crunches, cubes, and divides the scrap. Maybe Michael will allow a day in the life of what happens after you guys dump scrap. I'm totally interested. God love you Paul. You're a blessing.
As I was driving back from picking up Ice and MRE's from a local donation site where the National Guard is set up I couldn't help but look at every pile on the side of the road and think man Mike the Scavenger and Paul Scrap & Pallet man would have a field day with all this scrap. Yes I live where Hurricane Ida landed. Our house was spared but many weren't. My little piece of normal is watching my favorites on RUclips.
Thank you for letting us hang out with you Paul! I loved that old car picture and the solid wood dresser and head board and foot board is something I'm looking for. Paul when you said "my biggest fan" while holding the fan I laughed so hard. That was an old cheesy joke my shop teacher used to make. Thanks for the nostalgic laugh. Love your vids buddy, big fan of yours
That ended up to be a good load. Well if the drum doesn't work out , you now have a new plant stand. Glad they cleaned out a place for you to dump as it really was getting difficult. Have a great long weekend Paul. Keep Safe ❤Keep Well ❤
Hi Paul, I'm a hoarder too! Working on not being one. I love the 20 seconds of Tranquility at the pond with water fountain. Have you ever watched "Adventures made from Scratch"? Theme is a junk yard with a man who uses a massive front loader like it is an extension of his hands. Then he crushes automobiles in a crusher. Happy Labor Day :)
Have you ever thought about taking things to your local auction house? That grill, the bongos, the fire pit, and especially the furniture you find can fetch you quite a bit more profit if you resell it opposed to scrapping it. Just a suggestion. Thanks.
you would need a minimum critical mass of items value quantity. (auction house wants a cut) then you have to factor in transport and storage costs. if you already have a warehouse space with a couple spare 200sqft rooms? and the auction house is around the corner? sure that works. but the stuff does not teleport around. he has to expend resources to load transport and store until he has sufficient quantity to be worth selling and then expend resources to transport it pay fees pay taxes etc.. and do all this in a short enough timespace so storage costs don't exceed what you can make selling it. This is why people go for high value items (which most grills for example are not) ie more dollars/sqft/kg of items. If you spend $30 in fuel and storage to make $10 you are doing more harm to the environment than if it just went to a landfill. it sucks that it has to be that way but it is what it is. he does not live in a super high density location but higher than rural for sure so he is in that "middle ground" area where if he picks right he can save some things and profit a little.
Thanks again for sharing your video. Glad I can watch you while my granddaughter sleeps 💤😴. You made me giggle when you said you were a hoarder might as well make it a hoarder kinda day. Take care. 🇨🇦🎈
I've those garden fences! They are expensive!. I would have grabbed the solid wood in a heart beat. Love solid stuff like that. I want to go scrapping with you!!! Fun to watch you
I'm glad you realize the Blessings God has endowed you with! Such a blessing to find all the great stuff curb shopping!! Enjoyed the video, God Bless and stay safe!👍
Good Morning SCAPM Paul ☕👋. Thanks for making me smile 😁. You keep saving so much from going to the landfill 👍👍. Proud of you Paul. I repeat to myself everyday, no hurries, no worries, God has blessed me. Keeping the faith and prayers for everyone. Have a great Labor Day Weekend 🇺🇸 Stay safe. God Bless you and yours 🙏✌❤😊
It's more interesting and socially responsible when Paul takes non scrap items like the rugs and such. I hope he continues to do so. He can always give away good stuff if he decides later he doesn't want it.
its a catch 22 and he does have to be careful. creating a hoarding situation can creep up on you faster than you might think. ie have to be able to very easily and readily "let go" otherwise you end up with a warehouse in your backyard (ask me how I know :-) hehehehe HE also has very limited space. so he has to prioritize. it would be nice to save everything but not practical. after a certain time/distance travel/aquisition costs exceed the material value of the item. this is part of why I got an electric car and have a trailer hitch on it. now my travel/acquisition "range" is greatly increased without increasing my costs.
Good Evening My Good Big Bro Paul The Scraper & Pallet Man Sir & God Bless You & Renee & All Of You're Whole Family & I Am Still Praying For You & Renee & All Of You're Whole Family This Evening & Have A Great Labor Day Weekend
On a lighter note love your curbside scrap metal finds. Instant pay outs with trips to the scrap yard. So cool you live so close to the scrap yard. Say Hi to "Michael" for us your Bud at the Scrap Yard.
The items you thought was corner shelfs, are retail baskets, where product is placed separating different items. I can't believe these ideas of using the drum as a plant stand.
Hey Paul, you could take those rugs to the self serve car wash, they usually have those little clips to hold your car mats so you could wash them, WHY NOT A BIG RUG? Maybe use some gentle laundry soap instead of the car soap (may be too strong for fabric). I would do that if the rug was nice but just dirty. NOTE: Be sure to get all of the soap out of the rug, it attracts dirt if you leave the soap in/on there. HAPPY NEW RUG!
Hi, Paul. It's always so good to watch your videos and listen to you chat while you work. Once again someone was throwing out some perfectly good furniture at that house where you got the water heater. I always hope that other pickers come along to get the items that you don't usually get at the curb so it doesn't end up in the landfill. It's too bad that they couldn't be bothered to call the Salvation Army or Good Will instead of leaving that stuff st the curb. Take care of yourself Paul. Until next time.
Fantastic Paul, as usual. Hope the speakers work and you enjoy the sound from them. I love Boss equipment. Hoarding isn't the word, its salvage, I say. Saving money and the environment. Good haul of "Non Landfill" and over $80 into the bargain. Thanks for the trip Paul. Atb Phil.
Paul flippin burgers ! LOL. A part time litter collector grabbed litter from by a gas station and placed the rubbish in the gas station bin. He was seen by the council who issued him with a fine. The fine was retracted after an uproar from local residents praising him for collecting litter. The gas station owners didnt mind him filling their bins. Jobsworths some folk, but good people out there who stick by each other. 73's Andy M6APJ
Hey - what a Great Day Street Scrapping - You got some Great Scrap and a nice Payday - You sounded very Happy - we love it and Blessings from us in Australia - well done !!!!
Good afternoon Mr. Paul. I hope you have a wonderful weekend holiday. I just wants to know when your cd is coming out with all your wonderful little songs. Like get in my truck. Get in my empty truck. Lmbo. I so look forward to your videos. They just lift my spirit up. Prayers Love and Peace
I know around here when they have big cleanup days it’s contracted out. If you take stuff put out then it’s stealing from them because they recycle and get money from it. But where I used to live they encouraged scavenging because it was less to go to the landfill.
How/where do they take all the non-metals out of the scrap? Such things as washer hoses, MW glass, crutch grips. Good pickin'!! The pic is Model Ts. Thanks for taking us along.
@ pallet man, I feel your a better man than I. When it's time to scrap i won't do big heavy items. I have a bad back and have had 3 abdominal hernias. I guess I'd rather take smalls and micro scrap. It makes sense for me
You Sir are a good man as well, because you are doing what you can in scrapping. May God bless you, take your pain away and let you know just how wonderful you are.
Hey Paul, great video as usual. Many scrap yards do not accept wire fencing of any sort, it tends to get tangled up in the steel shredder. My dad put up fence for a living, and I knew yards wouldn't take chain link long before I was ever a scrapper haha.
Also, I'd like to point out that non-ferrous metals in the shred pile take a lot more energy to recycle. Not only does it take more energy to separate, but that dirty aluminum/copper mix (zorba) often ends up in foreign countries with less strict environmental laws. While you still shouldn't waste time taking things apart, separating things which can go as aluminum breakage or electric motors as-is would be a little better for the planet.
Can't believe you passed up dresser's and all that. Going to church they have a parent in need if you understand having to restart your life. But those end tables and couch table was a big fine I found they sold those at $1200,00 so you did great. That dresser was $600.00 you left. Carpets very nice and extream expensive cost now good job. Love your day Paul. Hug's from Oregon
A good day for hoarding! You are one lucky duck on that bongo (I think they are called Djembe?), I always wanted one like that! I can't blame you on that heavy furniture, stripped down and refinished it would be better than what you can buy in most stores today (In my humble opinion anyway)! God Bless!
"C'mon Pauuuuul"...lol. I often wondered...have you ever been talking to, or about, the scrap and look up and the home owners are looking out the windows at you? "That fella really loves our trash"
What a great channel you have I love vintage audio and I am sure with a little TLC those speakers and drum will be great thank you for the great videos and be safe and careful always
I have made probably $30,000 over 6 years of doing this on average just one hour a week of driving around finding things. My best find was a box of monster high dolls that I got $633 for. Another good find was 4 brand new one xbox one kinect sensors I got $440. The most common price I sell things for is $50. Gaming consoles, computers, furniture, tools, rugs, all kinds of random stuff. If someone had a shop front they could probably make at least $50,000 a year finding things, and selling them in the shop. For the small items worth only $5-$10 I end up with a big pile of them, and give them to the op shop every 6 months or so. It is a waste of time trying to sell the small items on facebook or ebay. Ever since Covid though it is hard to sell things. Less money for a lot of people I suppose, and so buying less second hand things. Before covid it was soooo easy to sell anything online. I still make money doing it though. It is fun, and exciting to see what treasure a dump holds. That chest of draws at 9:47 would of gotten $100 if in good condition.
The car picture along with the Brady Bunch brick rug will look good in your shop. A little wood glue and rubber bands to hold it till the glue dries will fix up that offset spatula.
*You're misunderstanding what the law about "Theft/Larceny by Finding" is about, we have that here in the United States as well.* *Example:* *If you walk down the street and find a phone on the side of the road, you legally can't just can't keep it, take it home and start using it as if it's yours, you're legally obligated to turn it in to the police. If the phone gets traced back to you and you're in possession of it especially after a couple days, you could be charged for theft by converting it to your own personal property, that is "Theft/Larceny by Finding.* *On the other hand, once garbage goes to the curb it becomes open to the public, scrapping would be neither trespassing or theft, that's also how police can go through your curbside garbage and not need a search warrant, it would be a different story if it was on the side of your house.*
Your explanation for theft by finding is similar to that of the UK. The difference is that you must show that you have taken steps to find the owner or by handing it over to the police. The scrap industry in the UK is more regulated due to the actions of a criminal minority. This happened due the thefts of cables from utility companies networks. Yes, live electrical lines from power companies and the railways. As well as drain and manhole covers. Now in the UK if you want paid for the scrap you're selling. You are required to have a bank account. (Plenty of ways around this no doubt).
Also in some areas the "recycle" bins, those sometimes go to places that sort and sell, so sometimes taking from those is illegal. Paul has explained many times that his area recycle place wouldn't want the metal scrap, they melt, Pelletize and sell plastic.
How much do the copper wires sell for if you calculate per foot?? If you anneal (spelling?) and straighten it with nylon tipped players it goes fo about $44 per 100 feet... for jewelry wire wrappers... just an idea for winter... ❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹
🎶🎵🎶🎸🎸🎼 dododo dodo 🎶🎵🎸🎸 SAP man, some wooden fishing lures can bring a handsome price. If they're antiquated enough. And you seam to run across a lot of fishing gear. Might pay you to bone up a bit on them...

I know around here when they have big cleanup days it’s contracted out. If you take stuff put out then it’s stealing from them because they recycle and get money from it. But where I used to live they encouraged scavenging because it was less to go to the landfill.
Is always nice to watch your videos after A Hard Day's Work keep it up and keep up the good work for the Earth as well and for the Lord
How/where do they take all the non-metals out of the scrap? Such things as washer hoses, MW glass, crutch grips. Good pickin'!! The pic is Model Ts. Thanks for taking us along.
Not hoarding if you use it or sell it Paul!💞💜💞
@ pallet man, I feel your a better man than I. When it's time to scrap i won't do big heavy items. I have a bad back and have had 3 abdominal hernias. I guess I'd rather take smalls and micro scrap. It makes sense for me
You Sir are a good man as well, because you are doing what you can in scrapping. May God bless you, take your pain away and let you know just how wonderful you are.
@@MrsMika thank you it means a lot to me
Hi Paul, If covering the drum is expensive you could always put a plant pot in it and did the speakers work?
You could literally decorate your whole house with nice trash❤️ty for you
I've estimated almost 50% of my belongings came from the curb
Yards here love it.
Roll it up and push it with the dozers like a giant steel push broom 😁
Broom sweeping 🤣
Good morning from here, i love watching your videos and its good as always. Stay safe and God bless.💖😘
Hey Paul hope all is well with you and the family keep on scrapping and keep up the good work
Love the videos Paul! Fun to watch since I can’t go scrap myself right now. Hopefully next week I’m all healed up
Get well soon my friend
Can't believe you passed up dresser's and all that. Going to church they have a parent in need if you understand having to restart your life. But those end tables and couch table was a big fine I found they sold those at $1200,00 so you did great. That dresser was $600.00 you left. Carpets very nice and extream expensive cost now good job. Love your day Paul. Hug's from Oregon
I love all the post it notes in Michael’s office!
Did you show pictures of your house after the remodel, or perhaps you did and I missed it. I would love to see them. Thanks for the vlog.
The pull of the hoarder is why I can’t do this myself.
The struggle is real
What a great channel you have I love vintage audio and I am sure with a little TLC those speakers and drum will be great thank you for the great videos and be safe and careful always
Hi Paul! Have a great 3-day weekend. 🦋🦋
What a great haul and the rugs are awesome find.
That drum would be really expensive, even with the head needing replacement. I think it is a jembe.
Every time you make a video I get happy👍🙃
You could take the children books & donate to some organizations for children like a women’s shelter
😊😊Morning Paul,have a good day🖐🖐🖐
The car picture along with the Brady Bunch brick rug will look good in your shop. A little wood glue and rubber bands to hold it till the glue dries will fix up that offset spatula.
*You're misunderstanding what the law about "Theft/Larceny by Finding" is about, we have that here in the United States as well.*
*Example:*
*If you walk down the street and find a phone on the side of the road, you legally can't just can't keep it, take it home and start using it as if it's yours, you're legally obligated to turn it in to the police. If the phone gets traced back to you and you're in possession of it especially after a couple days, you could be charged for theft by converting it to your own personal property, that is "Theft/Larceny by Finding.*
*On the other hand, once garbage goes to the curb it becomes open to the public, scrapping would be neither trespassing or theft, that's also how police can go through your curbside garbage and not need a search warrant, it would be a different story if it was on the side of your house.*
Keep safe Paul still watching on your TV from from San Pedro Laguna Philippines
How much do the copper wires sell for if you calculate per foot?? If you anneal (spelling?) and straighten it with nylon tipped players it goes fo about $44 per 100 feet... for jewelry wire wrappers... just an idea for winter... ❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹
I like your truck. You have a nice truck and red is my favorite color.
Garbage I understand but stuff that takes years and years to rot away you just keep doing a great job brother
Hey Paul....if you don't get the drum fixed it might also be cool to use as a planter
Haven’t seen your kiddos lately! Hope they are doing well!
I love that you found some goodies for you too. Good $ today. I wish you had gotten the box of kids books for donation though.
Paul, why did you leave the brass fitting on the water heater? Those would add up in cord pile.
Really good day for me sept.3,2021 the day I left the hospital after surviving Covid Delta Variant.😎👊🏻🙏GOD BLESS
Praise God
Paul are we going to have to have an intervention hahaha LOL
