I have literally no interest in cruising. Never been on one, and I have no intention of going on one. The nearest I've come to a cruise is watching The Poseidon Adventure every New Year's Eve as my own personal ritual. And yet. I am utterly fascinated by this channel. I watch every video without fail. (Emma is one of the few RUclipsrs I have on alert). I think it's the wholesome and welcoming tone. And the fact she's a fellow Brit doesn't hurt! These vids are the opposite of stress.
Glad I’m not the only one. You will never catch me on a cruise; they are beyond horrible for the environment and a such a dumbed down way to travel. HOWEVER, I love this channel for some reason!

Even if you go vegan and sit in a grassy field and breathe shallow breaths between planting trees... it makes an impact. That said we should hold large companies accountable for sustainable operations and continue working on innovations to reduce impacts and maintain natural resources.
Love you Emma, you're the best of the cruise news Tubers, but I have to correct you on one thing. There are 5, not 4, Solstice class ships. You missed the newest one, the Reflection. Other than that, I really appreciate the before/after shots of the renovated areas. Will be on the Equinox in another week or so, can't wait.
A well presented tour of the ship by the impeccably attired presenter. The floating city was defiantly on full display. It made it easy to understand the allure of cruising.
Our first cruise back, at a similar time as yours, was also British Isles. 12 nights on Apex. Distancing was still a thing, but masks were not mandatory. I'm watching this one now as we depart for 13 nights for a Scandinavian trip. Your video was very helpful as I've not been on this class of ship before. Thank you for such an entertaining and comprehensive video!

So completely entertaining as your videos always are Emma ! Thank you !!! The remodel is brilliant if I may steal one of your adorable expressions ;-) May I ask if in the refit, they deepened that second outdoor pool on Deck 12 ? When I was on her prior to the refit, I went into the pool closest to the large bank of elevators and it turned out it was a kiddies pool LOL - up to my knees at best ! I pretended I meant to go in the pool by relaxing / floating atop the water so people wouldn't think I was an idiot, well but I was an idiot so there LOL !!! I hope now both outdoor pools are the same depth.... Love that indoor solarium pool too, but I need to be outdoors to truly enjoy a swim and laps. I so love cruising Celebrity and am thrilled you and your mom had a blast too !!! Cheers to you and to a life time of lovely joy-filled travels ! Marcia

I was just on her a few weeks back - I hadn't seen what the Silhouette looked like before the renovation, which definitely still stands up a couple of years later.
We're looking at possible future cruises. One is on Celebrity Silhouette, so we watched your video. one question, you described the library as a "book exchange type thing". Is the entire library a book exchange, or is only part of it a book exchange and the rest a regular library?

I think my absolute favourite thing about the refit of Silhouette is the Craft Social addition - we found it so nice to relax in there with a beer (or two...) before dinner, but we probably wouldn't have used the wine bar that was there before as it seemed really dark!

What benefits can an agent provide and does it cost more (or less?)? Thanks!
Hey Ryan, a travel agent shouldn’t ever cost you more so I always recommend them. They are sometimes able to get you discounts/freebies and at a minimum they’re there to do all the talking to the cruise line for you… like having somebody on your side. 😀❤️
Emma, we were chatting about your channel this morning at the office and a number of us thought a great episode for you would be an "evolution of the cruise ship" maybe as a multi part series, start from as early back in history as you see fit. Just an idea that we would be curious to watch!

Celebrity Reflection is also a Solstice class ship. She and Silhouette both have Lawn Club Grill. We've been on both twice. Also been on Eclipse and Equinox, Solstice class. The casino bar was there before, and there was one near the shops and theatre entrance. We loved all the trips on Celebrity and are great fans of the fabulous Martini Bar!

Emma, I am going to ask all of the YT cruise posters about this, but you being younger, may have more insight into it: 3 questions: How do you get the time off work to take as many cruises as you do? How do you get the money to take as many cruises as you do? I know posting here if you are monetized helps, but It would not be enough (I am wondering if the people posting about cruising are actually just all upper crust) ? Finally, do you know of ANY way to cruise alone without paying for TWO people ?

Just had a wonderful staycation on the Fabulous silhouette, staying in “The Retreat”. Well worth the money. What a fantastic 1st holiday since the pandemic!! Beautiful and modern ship and the staff and crew were Amazing!!
What is the minimum accommodation quality you need to book to qualify for The Retreat facilities? Surely there is something less grand and more affordable than the Royal Suite?
Excellent review. Liked the before and after pics. We enjoy cruising with Celebrity. Those rocking chairs in the observation lounge make more sense than having them in your Veranda cabins… (The Edge class ships)
What makes someone start at the top and go down when touring a ship? Every time I have toured it’s always the bottom to the top - I love heights so I must be trying to save the best for last - thanks for the wonderful tour

I think I watched this before I booked our first every cruise which will be on this ship. Seeing it now makes us very excited about going on it to see Norway in June.
At 3:25 the seatruck ship is called the seatruck panorama because of the layout of the shot you can work out that it is sitting at vt2 panorama was on lease to Stena for year now replaced with foreteller because she is sitting at vt2 this shows that the freight bots I believe the closest one to be jsp rider but might be wrong they are sitting at vt3 because if this you can work out the video was filmed on 7th of July and the boat was docked in Belfast
I love love love the osmo, I used to use a go pro too but the battery wouldn’t last long, it would overheat and I got fed up. The dj lasts for days and it’s so tiny. Love it 😀❤️
I once overheard someone say to a friend who had just been on a cruise ask what i think as the stupidest question ever..... " why do they have pools on a ship? Youre surrounded by water so you can just go swimming off the side" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
A few years ago my wife and I did a celebrity cruise around the Baltic. We paid to eat in the restaurant and did so for all our meals except lunch which we had on trips or in the main buffet. During one evening meal a waiter suggested we may like to try one of the other smaller speciality restaurants; would we have had to pay extra if we had a meal in one of the speciality restaurants? Sorry, I've now seen more of your video, yes we would have had to pay extra.
Cruise ships are coming back to dundee scotland, think its a starting point rather than visiting for the day. But its kl to see them, I'm scared of being on open water, so see it through your channel
Wow looks nice too on board Silhouette though I think the ship that is due to come to Australia eventually when they can get to will be the Eclipse she will be like this ship you are on there
If the Eclipse is as nice as the Silhouette I would be keen to fly from NZ to Australia to sail on her as I’ve never tried Celebrity cruises as yet. We are forever hopeful that cruising will resume again at some stage down under here once both our governments allow this.

That might be the only option I have and yet my anxiety about being alone in a strange city and having to get a hotel at either end of the trip and flying makes it currently out of reach. I get extremely anxious in new places and I’m afraid to say it does limit my movements a lot. Maybe in the future I’ll be braver.
I think "lovely" should be your next Britishism. Although the word technically means the same, Americans seem to use it only for appearances... "That woman is lovely." I don't think they would ever say "That cup of tea was lovely." I can't think of an American equivalent. "Delightful" may be the closest but that may not be very commonly used. And yes, my brain works this way! ;-)
@@EmmaCruises I agree that it would be hard to describe. It might be too fundamental a difference between British and American cultures. Perhaps it doesn't need to be explained, just appreciated instead!
I have never been on a cruise before and I have started watching these videos to try and convince myself to book one... from what I've gathered the majority of space on these ships is used to just sit around and eat? With some more sitting in-between the sitting... I remain unconvinced that these are going to be engaging and fun holidays! 🤣🤣 Good video mind you!
Haha!! You need to check out a big Royal Caribbean or Norwegian Cruise Line ship if you want lots of stuff (check out my Encore tour). Celebrity are designed for relaxing 😀❤️
I'm not a restaurant person and you're right that more and more of the ships are restaurants or some sort of eateries. Ships used to have more venues to meet, mingle, drink, dance and the deck spaces used to have less on them so you can look at the sea more but filling them up with revenue enhancements and rented space is how the cruise lines make more money. There is entertainment in the show lounge, there are activities that you may or may not find interesting like games and trivia. But what I most enjoyed was the lounge atmosphere where there were people dancing. Also, the pool areas can be lively at times. There are spa areas that really try to take your money with their "services." And the ever present Park West galleries are part of pretty much every cruise line. Celebrity started with one specialty dining room on the Millennium class but the Solstice class brought in a lot more. The Century class had more meet and mingle and dance areas and no specialty restaurants. I feel I had my best food on the Century class and best time. I liked the Century class ships best and think the Edge ships are the worse ships as they have no Sky Lounge, no library, no card room, and even more restaurants. They have a space called Eden that's like another show area where the performers are part of the scene that some people love. But they also have yet another restaurant, for-pay restaurant, there as well.
Watching this video, thinking this all looks like the Celebrity ship I cruised on... and then look at the ship name and realized it was the very ship we were on 😜😜 we cruised in 2020, just before the ‘rona shut things down

Sailed on silhouette pre refit and it was my favourite. Trying the Edge in December and am excited to see if I love it as much

Depends on the cruise line, some charge the same but you’ll often get deals with ‘3rd and 4th guest half price’ 😀👍🏼
Did they have the martini bar (frozen bartop) or Aqua class staterooms and the Blue (Blu? - I forget) restaurant?

I’m looking to book my next cruise for May next year, although i prefer smaller ships I’m interested to see what’s she’s like! Ive done a couple P&O cruises and mostly enjoyed them, but they are a bit mmm you know!

I think I watched this before I booked our first every cruise which will be on this ship. Seeing it now makes us very excited about going on it to see Norway in June.
I like the layout, not overly decorated. Looks like the food is delicious.
At 3:25 the seatruck ship is called the seatruck panorama because of the layout of the shot you can work out that it is sitting at vt2 panorama was on lease to Stena for year now replaced with foreteller because she is sitting at vt2 this shows that the freight bots I believe the closest one to be jsp rider but might be wrong they are sitting at vt3 because if this you can work out the video was filmed on 7th of July and the boat was docked in Belfast

I love love love the osmo, I used to use a go pro too but the battery wouldn’t last long, it would overheat and I got fed up. The dj lasts for days and it’s so tiny. Love it 😀❤️

A few years ago my wife and I did a celebrity cruise around the Baltic. We paid to eat in the restaurant and did so for all our meals except lunch which we had on trips or in the main buffet. During one evening meal a waiter suggested we may like to try one of the other smaller speciality restaurants; would we have had to pay extra if we had a meal in one of the speciality restaurants? Sorry, I've now seen more of your video, yes we would have had to pay extra.

If the Eclipse is as nice as the Silhouette I would be keen to fly from NZ to Australia to sail on her as I’ve never tried Celebrity cruises as yet. We are forever hopeful that cruising will resume again at some stage down under here once both our governments allow this.

That might be the only option I have and yet my anxiety about being alone in a strange city and having to get a hotel at either end of the trip and flying makes it currently out of reach. I get extremely anxious in new places and I’m afraid to say it does limit my movements a lot. Maybe in the future I’ll be braver.

I think "lovely" should be your next Britishism. Although the word technically means the same, Americans seem to use it only for appearances... "That woman is lovely." I don't think they would ever say "That cup of tea was lovely." I can't think of an American equivalent. "Delightful" may be the closest but that may not be very commonly used. And yes, my brain works this way! ;-)

I think the closest American equivalent of lovely would be "nice." Or maybe just "good" or "great." That's a nice cup of tea, a great sunset, etc.

I have never been on a cruise before and I have started watching these videos to try and convince myself to book one... from what I've gathered the majority of space on these ships is used to just sit around and eat? With some more sitting in-between the sitting... I remain unconvinced that these are going to be engaging and fun holidays! 🤣🤣 Good video mind you!
Haha!! You need to check out a big Royal Caribbean or Norwegian Cruise Line ship if you want lots of stuff (check out my Encore tour). Celebrity are designed for relaxing 😀❤️
I'm not a restaurant person and you're right that more and more of the ships are restaurants or some sort of eateries. Ships used to have more venues to meet, mingle, drink, dance and the deck spaces used to have less on them so you can look at the sea more but filling them up with revenue enhancements and rented space is how the cruise lines make more money. There is entertainment in the show lounge, there are activities that you may or may not find interesting like games and trivia. But what I most enjoyed was the lounge atmosphere where there were people dancing. Also, the pool areas can be lively at times. There are spa areas that really try to take your money with their "services." And the ever present Park West galleries are part of pretty much every cruise line.
Celebrity started with one specialty dining room on the Millennium class but the Solstice class brought in a lot more. The Century class had more meet and mingle and dance areas and no specialty restaurants. I feel I had my best food on the Century class and best time. I liked the Century class ships best and think the Edge ships are the worse ships as they have no Sky Lounge, no library, no card room, and even more restaurants. They have a space called Eden that's like another show area where the performers are part of the scene that some people love. But they also have yet another restaurant, for-pay restaurant, there as well.
