The worst single day i ever experienced was Monday, January 19th, 1996, in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Temperature of --43.1 ° C., winds gusting to 80 kph. But as for the wind-chill equivalent that day, never did find out. I think at the time weather reports were still using the older system of heat-loss in watts per square cm. 2700 was essentially unbearable (exposed flesh freezing in 15 seconds or less...)

If the air temp was -43.1 with 80 kph winds, it wind chill would have been insane, I’m guessing high -50s at least!

It’s the largest lake shared with the US, the largest lake entirely within Canada would be different of course.
