If only our weather would let me grow them 10 months of the year of fruits would be just womnderful. Thanks for watching, Eddie. Hope you find the video useful.🥰
I planted some from seed as I have never seen them here in England...They have been quite slow growers, but are outside in the sunshine now, so I look forward to tasting these beautiful melons at some point - possibly not before next year, as I'm not sure how old they have to be in order to fruit.
I think 1 to 2 years when grown from seeds. They are not frost hardy at all and have left one plant outside(dead) and brought in one(got 2 fruits ATM) growing inside my grow tent.
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK thank you. That's really good to know. I germinated them inside and have only put them out now that all danger of frost has passed. My house will be even more full of overwintering plants this Winter😆
Great video of the beautiful pepinos can't wait for my ones to start producing fruits ,I bought one plant and from that one now I do have close to 40 plants some of them already showing flowers so keeping my fingers crossed for my pepinos.
Just like you, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this fruit. I harvested the last fruit from this pot a bit early because the birds started to try it (caught in the act). It's crunchier but still very sweet. I think it would be perfect for salads and sandwiches (Salmon w/ Crunchy Pepino Melon & Avocado sandwich). 😋
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Just remembering when Ian and I last grew them. We were sitting in the spa about 10pm and suddenly became aware of a crunching sound. When we got out of the spa we found the dog had polished off every single pepino and I have never been successful with them since!!!
Hello, thanks for posting this. Sae this in tiktok and lilooked delish and juicy. Never seen this beautiful. Interested to tey it next yr. How long does it take to set fruit and ripen? I live in zone3 and knly have from last wkmof June to mid September to grow them. I maybe able to grow seedling i doors.
They're a fast growing/fruiting plant as long as they are given lots of sunlight and warmth. Grown from seeds would be best done indoors in your situation and only taken outside once temperature gets above 50°F. They will suffer and die from the frost. I bring them indoors during winter and kept inside a grow tent. Cheers 🥰
Maybe there are different varieties but this one I have growing is very sweet and tasty. For me, it taste better than Honeydew melon. It might be that the ones sold in Chinatown was pick green to make them last longer since they are easily bruised when ripe.
Do I need to wait to get the pepino's to gat stripes...to harvest them? I have 1 plant in Belgium... They are big ,but when do they are ready to Harvest?
I wish I had a green thumb 😢 I'm not a fan of meat,, just every once in awhile. But I wish I could grow my own fruit & veggies. It would save so much money!! I want to try this pepino fruit!!! U say it's like water down melon? I'm allergic to cantaloupe which unfortunately I love so I eat about 2 pieces so I won't have a severe reaction. U think I'll have a reaction to this fruit?
I got it from my local Heritage Nursery located at Yarralumla, ACT. Also look online at The Diggers Club for seeds and also Daley's Fruit Tree Nursery.
I love pepinos! I grew up in Peru, so they were always available at the weekly fresh market. We’d just eat them like an apple!
Yummmm. 😋 Wish I could just buy them here. Thanks for watching and sharing.
Cut! Your speaking an Italian man. Your gonna eat an Italian man!

The plant is so small, but the fruit is huge. Definitely worth to plant considering similar size fruit usually come from bigger plant

Those are sold in here in Chinatown. They are also growing in my yard. They are not very tasty. However, they are extremely easy to grow.

What do they taste like?
Very interesting
Hi Liz from Melbourne happy to see 👀 you growing some food as well I stayed in Canberra for a bit sorry I didn't like it 😊
Do I need to wait to get the pepino's to gat stripes...to harvest them? I have 1 plant in Belgium... They are big ,but when do they are ready to Harvest?
When they have stripes if you want them sweet. I harvested some green ones at the end of autumn and it ripened on my fruit bowl in two weeks.
When they turn yellow and have stripes
New sub .. i just got 2 plant hope it works 😊
Do they survive frost? Or do I have to keep it inside in the winter ( Belgium) winters are about -6°C about
They die from the frost. I have one growing indoors at the moment under the grow light still producing fruit.
I had one in melbourne we had about-1 but it still killed some of my plants

It's a case of trying a little bit to see if you'll react to it. Have a great day! 🥰
I have got only one today.😁. How many have you got each plant?
8 & 6. Hope you get more. Thanks for watching.🥰
Where did you purchased the plant or cuttings?
I got a grown plant from my local nursery here in Yarralumla, Canberra. Thanks for watching.🥰
1:03 - Some double entendre thing going on here 😁😂😋
Liz it looks very much like a Tamarillo which is closely related to a tomato.
My Tamarillo now has some flower buds, but it is much smaller though than Pepino Melon. Thanks for watching.
Recently grown pepino plant, not yet flowering.
Does pepino fruit like good watering?
They love water. I water them everyday. Thanks for watching.🥰
Thank you
What is the season for planting.
Spring & summer for places with frost and snow but in the tropics, they grow pretty much grow all year round.
Trying hard to find seeds here in Brisbane, so far no luck.
Maybe try online. I've seen a few online shop selling seeds. Good luck.
Tutubo Kaya Yan dto Ma'am liz sa Phil.? Parang gusto ko din magtanim NG ganyan dto 😊😊
Bili po kayo ng seeds. Tropical fruit po yan. Talagang lalago sa Pilipinas. Magandang pang business.
