Great to see that you all are branching out. It all meshes very nicely. Did you know that JFK once said, while he was honoring Nobel Prize Winners, (I'm paraphrasing) never has there been such an accumulation of human knowledge in the White House, with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone. Nuff said
I’m so happy I found your channel! Your videos are interesting and well researched. I was a student at the University of Virginia and enjoyed your Thomas Jefferson video, all facts I didn’t know.
What a amazing individual spoke five languages fluently I have a hard time speaking English what a resume indeed and what a wonderful story a little change of pace hun John thank you for putting it all together for us I certainly do appreciate it have a great weekend my friend looking forward to the next one
Fun fact: the man Jefferson sent to meet with the man blackmailing him about Sally Hemmings was none other than Meriwether Lewis, who served as Jefferson's assistant before Jefferson sent him on what we now call the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
This was fascinating info, thank you!! His home is beautiful! He was definitely a very intelligent man! So sad about his tombstone but great that it was restored and is now in a place of honor! Thank you again for the curious history of a great man!
Gotta love everything history. Have you heard about the Morgan's Raid of the American Civil War? Look it up. It's a part of history and maybe you can talk about it on your next video. Awesome editing as well as the video John.
I knew about the battle of Buffington Island but somehow didn’t equate it as part of Morgan’s Raid. Then to find out they were captured and imprisoned later only to tunnel out and escape is totally fascinating! I can’t wait to read more about it!
I just located his spot of surrender. It’s about 20 minutes from the Spread Eagle Tavern in Columbiana County. I was planning a trip back there in a couple months so it should be a great opportunity to film part of the video there
In 1805, Thomas Jefferson signed an Executive Order banning the importation of slave labor, as the Haitian Revolution started putting an end to slave breaking operations in the Caribbean/East Indies. No one came to American shores by accident, they willingly earned their way for a better life for their children. Earned may be a liberal wording, yet the alternative was castration and/or working SA silver mines to die of Hg poisoning. 6:14 No mention that Jefferson's bother liked to drink and party with the workers, nor that 'his children' were more likely his nephews and nieces.
As always, John, you have done a great job here. I have always been a deep admirer of Thomas Jefferson. He truly was a great man, and founding father of our country. Monticello is a beautiful place. That, and the University of Virginia are great examples of his architectural genius. In my opinion, no matter how much "dirt" people dig up about him, his accomplishments outweigh many of his wrongs. He was a flawed man who still did much good. I didn't know about his headstone. That was interesting. Keep up the good work. I always look forward to your posts!
Excellent historical presentation, John. Thank you for sharing this. It’s always a pleasant experience watching your videos, and I leave them with more knowledge gained every time. Imagine! Learning Spanish during a voyage of a little less than a month. I’d be too busy hanging over the edge of the ship to be able to focus on learning a language!😊 I look forward to the next fascinating video… Until then may you and your family take care and be blessed!
It's a wonder that it wasn't took down or hidden and put up just like the rest of everyone's statues or etc trying to rewrite history.👍 thanks for the video.
If Thomas Jefferson was Catholic, he and I would most certainly have gotten along famously. I too love books, passionate about education, and like learning languages. We would certainly have had a lot to talk about. Sadly, he was not Catholic, did not believe that slavery was immoral, and had a concubine. So, it's just as well that I'm not his contemporary.

I'm glad his memorial plaque was restored & not simply lost in obscurity.

Great info!
Thomas Jefferson moved on up to a deluxe apartment in the sky! His Dry Cleaning stores were inherited by his great great grandson, George.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
