    Constant Current is NOT Necessary.
    I tested constant resistance mode (C.R. with the included resistors).
    tested with lab supply to be able to set any voltage to set the discharge current,
    1. Set current to 200mA and timed how long it took to get to 10mAh, was 185 seconds,
    2. reset and then set current to 400mA and timed how long it took to get to 10mAh, was 92 seconds,
    Half the time with twice the current proves that CR mode reads and compensates the mAh and the constant current modification is not necessary.
    3. reset and in one test I set to 800mA discharge (11v), started test and timed how long to 10mAh, then noted time and quickly switched to 400mA (5.5v) and timed how long it took to get to a total of 20mAh, exactly twice the time of the first segment. Again proving constant resistance is fine to test with and constant current is not necessary, even through I found a low cost (55 cents) two component solution (LM1085 + 1.25 ohm resistor) to provide constant current (verse the 15 components needed in this video).
    @Kasyan TV did you not test this capability of this unit? Have fun.

      It does nto have to be accurate constant current (see my posts above), also if you want CC, I have a low cost 2 component solution, again see my posts above, it does not even have to be CC, CR is totally fine.

    You could also just use a LM317 and 1.25ohm (1.5W or higher) resistor to limit the current to 1A, be quite a bit easier than your design. Thoughts?
    EDIT: The LM1085, its a LDO 3A to-220 and has a full 1 volt less dropout voltage than the LM317, and should easily go down to 2.5V input, perfect for li-ion batteries and only 50 cents on Ali.

      No, isnt impossible for the minimum voltage work of LM317. Too simply...

    • @Ozzy3333333
      @Ozzy3333333 2 года назад +1

      @@rbvenice Just tried it, and it works to 3.3V, so if you need lower than 3.3v, then yes, your correct, but it does work down to 3.3v. We all know there is not much energy below 3.3V (unless its a LiFe cell).

      @@rbvenice if using 0.5A discharge, then it works down to 3.0v, so yes, it does work. There is probably a better suited regulator for this, just I have a bag of these and thought I would try it.

      @robert. Some of my lm317 only work down to 3.0v at 250mA with 5.0 ohm 1% resistor, so I think to be safe if needed 3.0v cutoff to use above data. Since you can get lm317 for 10 cents in quantity of 10. For 40cents you could do 1A current with four 317. Still would be nice to find a ldo version of the 317,just haven't had time to look.

    How do the Battery Internal Resistance Meters selling for less than $100 work?
    Do they inject and AC voltage across the battery and see the voltage drop?
    Do a project like that. One that we all can build on the cheap.
    Not many will build an analog load when they can buy one for < $30.

    • @Ozzy3333333
      @Ozzy3333333 2 года назад

      They measure open cell voltage, then use a short discharge pulse (like 30us at 1A), during this time they measure cell voltage and calculate cell IR.

  • @Ozzy3333333
    @Ozzy3333333 2 года назад +1

    Why not use just use the zbl23 by itself? Yes, its constant resistance, but it applies the same CR to each cell tested, so the results are the same and comparable?

    • @Ozzy3333333
      @Ozzy3333333 2 года назад +1

      At 3:05, the device does not "select" the current, you do by changing resistor loads. And it measures the current through R020 current sense resistor and calculates the Ah as the voltage and current drops, so it does correctly show the mAh capacity of the battery. Why do you say otherwise?
      If you really need constant current, then my LM1085 and single resistor is a low cost 2 component, no pcb solution verse your 15 component solution. Thoughts?
