I need to add here that this song was written by the great American songwriter/producer Nick Lowe way back in 1973 and originally recorded by his band Brinsley Schwarz. NICK LOWE.... please don't forget him because he's an American treasure.
You're right in saying Nick is great at both song writing and producing. He's also a great performer in his own right. Definitely a treasure. But he's not American. He was born in England and therefore is English. He has written and performed some great Americana songs and was at one time married to Carlene Carter. So an honourary American by default of being somehow related to Johnny Cash. FKN great song whoever sings it!
