Part 5 : Cutting & rewelding a Gianelli silencer for a Yamaha DT 80 Lc2. It looked and sounded nice.

  • The Gianelli was not quite a bolt on fit to the #Yamaha #Dt80Lc. It was not designed with a rubber damper in mind, so all the vibrations go into the frame. I used an original but rusty silencer as spares, I cut and rewelded the Gianelli, to not only fit the bike perfectly, but to compliment it too. Performance was definitely better than the original silencer and the overall look is outstanding.

    Does it give some extra power to the bike? I have the same bike and I'm thinking to buy it to add some horses.

      Hi, thanks for the question. It depends on the cylinder and if you fit the full exhaust. They say that the standard cylinder works a lot better with the full exhaust. In my case it just sounded better, in fact I will be changing back to an 80 cylinder once I can get my garage cleared as I have moved since making the video. My mate had a standard cylinder with a front to back Gianelli and his back was quick.
