Wow! This was exactly what I needed. I literally knew like nothing about savings/investment accounts before this video (like I literally didn't even know what to call them). this video was super easy to understand, pretty fast paced and concise, and the production quality was really good too! All in all, it was fantastic! Looking forward to watching all your other videos!!
Hi Steph and Den, question...dont you get taxed on the interest earn on saving account ? would it be better to go with tax free ? I am trying to save for buying a condo. which is the better way to save.
Hey Joe! Good question - you do get taxed on interest earned in a High Interest Savings Account - so you could absolutely avoid that by saving money in a Tax Free account instead. One thing to consider is that if you do that, you’ll have less room to invest money within the tax free account - so it’s up to you and your situation. 😊
Excellent video! How was your portfolio this week? AQN stock makes up most of mine so I was up quite a lot this week. Holding AQN and adding more for the long term though.
My emergency fund is fully funded. I believe I should put the rest of my $ in a tfsa! I am a bit hesistant though. Do you recommend EQ bank tfsa account?
We personally do that (have a fully funded emergency fund then invest the rest in a TFSA!) - we use EQ Bank for the emergency fund, and then invest with Wealthsimple Invest (Steph) and Questrade (Dennis). @@stephandden thank you! Not available in Quebec :( But I saw neo capital at a higher rate what do you think about that? Also the wealthsimple save account invest in low risk etf which gives a higher return than any savings account out there. Just pointing it out.

hey, what online bank did you switch to?
Thanks for your wealth of Canadian-specific information! I don’t see the link for the EQ savings account?
Thanks, Chayne! Here it is - www.eqbank.ca/personal-banking/savings-plus-account?FintelConnect&Affiliate&finteltag=a-27929b-24215c-&OrderID=8515021 😊

😊
I'm so excited I found your channel! I'll definitely be making some changes, thanks to this video :)
So glad you found us, too! 😊
I have tangerine. Wondering if you think think EQ is a better option and why? With tangerine I use the Scotia ATM. Where do you withdraw from for EQ?
This video was uploaded right before I finished watching another one of your videos... coincidence? I think not
Noti squad! Haha
Don't forget RESPs and HCSAs :) (if they apply to your situation of course)
great video as always - just wondering is there a Canadian equivalent of a 401k? wasn't sure if that would be covered in this video
I believe the RRSP is the closest to a 401k.
It's known as RRSP(Registered Retirement Savings Plan)

Can't wait to open up some accounts and contribute once my debt is squashed. 👌🏿

Why not use EQBANK savings account as a checking account?
