My uncle deals with PTSD from his time in the Air Force during Iraq. He went out with a few Army guys one time and they were ambushed. He came home thankfully but was never the same. I leave for basic training in the Navy in July, respect to those that have went before me

Thanks for sharing man! My Dad and uncle were under JSOC and originally joined the military through the army, My dad was KIA in 2018 in the Middle East, to me, the shining example of a real man. Going to ranger school in 2 weeks. I hope I can make home proud. Benning made me realize it’s not all just being a badass, kids back was broken by a Drill instructor, crazy shit😂 I’ve made the voice my life is our country’s though, whatever they say about politicians, this is my home. Wasn’t expecting a script like this but it’s much appreciated. My grandfather was a veteran who fought in the Vietnam war and he passed away the day before my birthday just this month. Dude was a total badass putting up the fight he did.
One of my fathers friend was a veteran and he shot himself 6 years ago and i still remember what his suicide note said particularly one line when i translate it to english it is " I thought i was fighting for peace they told be it'll be peaceful when i come back home yet liging here feels like I'm in hell with a million demons screaming in my ear" and he wasn't even a closed off person he is the one that tought me how to play football he didn't show any signs of it not to anyone he loved it was after his death that we even knew that he was going to a therapist secretly.
My Grandfather was a code-breaker along the front. I haven’t spoken to him much since he lives in another state, but from what I’ve gathered from my mother, the war messed him up. So much that he lived nomadically for years before coming home. War is crap. But that doesn’t mean we should stop fighting. Because if we do, then we allow the people who harm us the most to take over.

As a veteran from Afghan served for 21 months, along side the Americans since I was apart of sasr, this really helps me thank you so much
