i think the fan culture is just different in korea and that leads to questions. there is more of an implication that being a fan of someone includes finding them attractive or caring about them as a person (more parasocial basically), rather than just enjoying their music. so being a fan of a western artist wouldn't carry that assumption since they are outside of korean fan culture
