In this video, VW Passat B6 bi-xenon headlight will be presented. You will see the xenon ballast (3D0907391B, Valeo LAD5GL, 89035113) and gas discharge bulb (D1S) locations, as well as their types and the way to replace them. You said that if there is no high beam problem is in the bulb or the balast. In this video we see that bulb is lit, how do you actually test for the high beam on the bench, or how do you find out if it is the balast..? Thanks!
hello, do you need to remove the bumper to get the headlight out?
unfortunately to prevent eventual lug/tab or headlight damage removing, at lease loosening, the bumper is a must. Everything made without removing the bumper risk your headlight integrity, and hence can cause bigger damage (water ingress, condensation etc...). It is a time consuming operation but can save you a lot afterwards.

Yesterday I failed on my car inspection because they thought my headlights were too weak.
I have replaced both ballasts and bulbs on both sides last year because the light was already weak back then, but the lights didn't improve at all after changing the parts, and I've heard that these lights are just bad in general so I thought nothing of it..
Any thoughts as to what my problem may be? I just read that the cables can get worn and lose current due to bad insulation, so is this a possibility perhaps?

@@xenonland Just under 200 000 km as of yesterday.
The glass on the headlights are also pretty clean for the age and the lenses are pretty clear without any notable discoloration for the record.
this usually happens when the projectors' reflectors are smoked/burnt. Inside the projectors casing there is a chrome coating, and usually in time this coating gets smoked/burnt. If the headlights are replaced in the past, most probably they are smoked. Nothing to do with ballast. If you use genuine xenon bulbs, and still do not have sufficient light outcome, in this case, the headlights need complete refurbishment (which we do not recommend for AFS type xenon headlights). Better to replace them, but with low-milage ones or new ones (which are expensive due to lack of aftermarket option)@@Piratskeppet

Hello my friend, i have a problem. I upgrade to passat bi xenon headlights set but doesn't work. I have 2006 passat, headlights is 2008-2010, afs gateway 5M0907357C, afs modules 7L6941329A and afs harness cable. ( signal, low beam and highbeam is work but corner light, calibration and turning projector is doesn't work )
As you know the software used at 2005-2008 is different than the 2008-2010. That's why you do not have AFS function since the ...329A (used for both left and right headlights) is incompatible with factory built ...329-...330 (which are sided at 2005-2008). I asume that you already changed the gateway/light module 5M0907357C with a newer one. If the 5M0907357C not coded properly you will not have AFS function as well. Programming of 5M0907357C is very crucial! All these are just guesses. Good luck, (bol sans), as modifing factory fitted system is very problematic (I know even the VW dealers sometimes fail to solve/address correctly such issues, and simply recommend to use original factory settings/parts).

My passat has no left high beam, i have changed ballast and bulb but the problem is still. Do you have any advice?
First make sure that the ballast and the bulbs work 100% at the other side headlight. Assuming that your Passat is 2005-2008 6-pin valeo, please check also the connection cable that goes from the ballast to the bulb. And finally make sure that there is power coming to the headlight.
@@xenonland Thank you for your suggestions, I used to swap the bulb with right side but the problem was still at the left. I will re-test all of them one more time.
A question you may know, when the high beam is turned on then the right high beam is worked for 5 seconds(the left one doesn’t work) and then the right high beam is turned off automatically by swap to low beam, is this normally behavior when both high beams don’t work at the same time?

Have you checked your AFS module?
Yes, afs module works fine, lens does all the movements, just left side (driver) high beam doesnt work, i hear the shutter clicking sound from right side when turning to high beams, but left side stays in the same low beam position and shutter makes no sound.

AFS (what Opel names AFL) is the adaptive function (adaptive forward lighting) of the headlight lens according to your steering wheel position (mainly as turning right or left).
Check your H7 bulb which also lights when you turn left or right. If it is not working, change it. If working then it a big trouble (ballast, high beam mechanism etc)
Hi, would this fix intermittent fault. Low beam sometimes goes out.
Intermittent fault is usually caused by the ballast (very seldom by the bulb, 2 occasions in last 10 years only). Especially if your ballast is exposed to a moisture/if you have a condensation issue at your headlight. Only solution is to find the source of the water ingress/condensation, and only than replacing the ballast. Otherwise the replacement ballast will also burn shortly.
Which do I change, I have code left power module no signal
Power module is afs module at this headlight. There is no other module at the headlight itself
@@xenonland mine bought up left power module no signal 08b9 and 4 other codes about compounds not being coded and headlights not being adjusted, so it should be the afs sensor which is part number

AFS leistunsmodul at the headlight cover for the left headlight: 7L6941329
Please make sure that you have correct diagnosis. AFS Module and swivel module sensor are different things.
Hello, so I have some problems with my bixenon headlights (2006 with two units) my left xenon is not working - dash warning AFS inoperative left dipped beam. I tried to change balast and second unit with second hand one and it's still not working (Incorrectly coded error). Do I need to code them or are they broken too?
Codes: 01328 Convenience system data bus, 00978 Lamp for low beam; Left(M29). Which modul is more likely to be causing problems?
Also I changed bulbs, still no luck. Any advice? Thanks in advance

Ballast does not need coding. Given that your replacement Ballast is working, it is straight swap. No coding needed.
Cornering function is related to afs module. Used asf module is a streight swap, given that it is absolutely same part number and genuine part
