I couldn't find the book vendor, much to my frustration. I ended up doing the whole quest line up until Delphine and Esbern started building up a little in the Sky Haven Temple. Would doing the alternate dossier work at this point, then?
Since you get the dossier at the thalmor embassy, you do really need to unless you missed it. The book vendor is hard to find but he's usually in the market place, the inn, or the bards college.

I answered this question for another person and it is hard to say where. You'll find him at the Winking Skeever at night, though he won't trade when he's there. He has no specific shop, you can trade with him throughout the day in the market. His name is Rennare. Is a very short little breton guy.
Has anyone experienced a dark face Kaidan? I think I accidentally broke the Kaidan Mod 2.1.1 when I downloaded a replacer for him to look different. I didn’t like it so I uninstalled it and his face is completely different without any mods attached. It’s been days now and it’s making me nuts I don’t know much about my load order but I’ve completely uninstalled every mod, cleared a new save, reinstalled the Kaidan Mod it’s still the same.😢
I have all three dossier and none of them will trigger his dialogue. Am I missing something? I've looked everywhere, even Nexus, but nothing is coming up!
The dossier is called Thalmor Dossier: Akaviri Settlements. It is in the chest to the right of the desk in the interrogation room or in the bookshelf in the interrogation room in Northwatch Keep.
"Dragon language: Myth no more" book. Find a copy, there are a few locations said in the video. You then have to complete the main quest up to horn of jurgen windcaller and then talk to Kaidan.
For some reason I can't talk to him about the artifacts from the Dragon burial mound or the ring, and I've had them all for quite some time, do I have to have them in my inventory for a while or is there something I've missed?
I've been throught all the lines i can read in your video until the sentence about the sword so this is why i don't understand, or did i miss something ? i will go one and see. Maybe it needs a little time to pass, one day maybe .? He has talked about the person who has raised him... and before he didn't wanted to talk that much about him... so i hope i'm on the good line !
How do you get the option to ask about his sword? in one playthrough it showed up almost as soon as I finished "The Way of the Voice", but in my current one I got the horn but the option hasn't shown up

Hey. In case you hadn't noticed, I made this video well over a year ago, and haven't been using Kaidan since. This video could be outdated, but more importantly, I've improved the way I create videos. If my volume is a little low or my mic quality isn't the greatest, that's simply because I made it so long ago and had less technological or artistic experience when it came to videos. If I did turn on RUclips generated subtitles (unsure about that, though) that's lovely, just turn those on. If I didn't, well... I'll just say it, I am not going in and subtitling every single word I say in the video, I'm sorry. It would simply be a waste of time. I hope that straightens it out a bit. I'm sure there are many other videos on this quest you could find that are more to your liking. And don't call me "hun".

You can also find a copy of the dragon book in Benkongerike, behind a locked gate just before the big room with the little guy riding boar.
For those who play the Legacy of the Dragonborn-Mod: The book needed for translation is to be found in the master bedroom.

I think you have to be at the point where you ask him if he wants help uncovering his past. During the "Tell me about yourself" dialogue.

@@vanessajamgochian9781 I'm not sure then. Using the alternate dossier doesn't require the sword and book though. You could do that and skip it.

It should be on a table to the right of Alduin's wall. It might only be there when the blades take over the area.
