Gigot, le Clochard de Belleville is a Hollywood classic starring Jackie Gleason, that was shot (late 50's, early 60's?) on and around the Belleville hillock (7:49). The "quartier" was later classified as "insalubre" and torn down. They eventually built that park on the site. You could still see the city's scars from WW2 back then. The stairway featured in it was also the setting for Robert Doisneau's "Les Enfants de la rue Vilin".
Seeing your video you uploaded this morning reminded me of this one, so I had to come watch it again, and it reminded me of how beautiful Georgia is. We need more Georgia!
Watch Jays 20 in 20, it will give you the insight into Paris. For fun; watch the 5 best croissants in Paris. There so many good ones but the 20 in 20 is a must watch
I like the view from Galeries Lafayette and Arc de Triomphe the best. I've been wanting to go to Printemps and see the view from there as well. The outside of the main building of Printemps is beautiful as well.
Heading to Paris for the first time in May and I’ve recently found your vlog. I really enjoy it. Love all the street art. You should do a whole post dedicated to it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I've done 5 shoots in Paris over the past few years and I'm always amazed at the unique views of the City of Light everytime I returned... and after I viewed your video too! Thank you!
It's an old video but maybe some people are still checking it out or you Jay are still monitoring comments. I recommend Domaine de Saint Cloud. It's not in Paris but in Saint Cloud so it's clearly overlooked but the views of Paris are amazing and accessible with lines 9/10 of the metro.
I love your tours. You are so fun to watch, as you walk and talk and video. I'm concerned you'll fall...yet you're an expert! I enjoyed this Oct. 22, 2017, "Five Amazing Views of Paris". Gave me the "Paris Fix" I needed! Thanks!
The Printemps, where a watch is more expensive than your house. As someone living in Seine-Saint-Denis, that's such an accurate description of this place hahaha but the Printemps and the Galeries are _so cool_ in winter! I can't wait to see this year's Christmas decorations! EDIT: As for Pompidou being one of Paris' eyesore, that's true, but the library is _awesome_ ! I've spent so much time there, working on my memoir!
I wish we'd made it up to the top of Printemps - it's such a good view. And yeah - Pompidou has grown on me a lot. I'm going to get back up there before too long hopefully =D
There is a very unknown spot with a really good view : the Jussieu university. You can go freely in the towers that are have huge windows, and since it is at the center of Paris, you can have a nice view of a part depending on which tower you are on. But there is also the huge central administrative tower, tour Zaminsky, that is unfortunately close to the public, but opens on the "Journée du Patrimoine". If you happen to be in Paris in that days, go check it out, the view is absolutely breathtaking
La defence modern arch, mont parnasse tower ( the best view because it's the only place in Paris that you can't see the tower you're in) ,& the park butts chaumont
I've been to France, and Paris, a bunch. It was so nice seeing these sights again and knowing what it looks like in person with both a crapton of people and very few. Also I ate there too! It's 100% the best, super yummy. There's some other great places to eat around there, you should go explore the food if you have the time. I miss France T~T
Hi Jay, just wanna say I'm a huge fan of your vlogs. Not the crazy irrational kind but more the highly appreciative, inspired and encouraging kind. I only discovered them about a week ago but have been 'binge-watching' ever since. Intriguingly, I might well be moving to France (Lyon) with work in the not too distant future, you see. So I've been fueling my excitement with all your vids. They're even inspiring me to consider taking up vlogging myself if I moved there... (I'm a journalist so could maybe fit alongside that.... maybe.... bit intimidated by all the video edit related sleep deprivation tho....) Anyway, thanks again for the vlogs and congrats on their ever-growing success. Currently living in London but maybe a France-based meet-up one day would be cool. Cheers, Chris
Chris Pilcher If you do vlog your potential life in Lyon, then you can definitely count on me being a subscriber. I absolutely adore Lyon and am very jealous of your opportunity. Good luck with your decision!
First subscriber right there!! And thanks, Chris! That's really kind of you and I'm glad that it's caused a little inspiration - that's the best compliment one could get right there. Once things settle down for me a little bit I'm planning to do more regular meetups so hopefully you can cross the channel in decent time!
Wow yes that is a seriously early subscriber! That would be great - would look forward to that. Keep up the good work mate! I'm sure I'll be in touch again.
I'm excited for you! I lived in Lyon this past summer and enjoyed every second of it, so it'll be nice to vicariously live there again via your vlogs (as we do through Jay in his).
So nice video and views. It will be helpful if u give the names in written form during the video and in the description box, please. It’s a shame that some people deface such beautiful places with graffiti. NYC had that problem years ago, at least the most common spots are without graffiti.
I believe Paris' most famous eyesore is the Eiffel Tower. Also, was the covering around the Pompidou escalator glass or "plexiglass"? I thought it was acrylic and that's why it's forever foggy...
Oo Hey 3rd marathon of the week man😬🤨😵😁 Vlog 462. I think m getting addicted to your channel lol I will be coming to Paris in April, collecting information from your Vlogs. Keep rocking man .... Cheers!
Jay Swanson, can’t say, from where should I start? is there any simple way where I can see all your important informative Paris Vlogs? That will be great. Thanks!
Great video Jay! I also love the back of Sacré-Cœur. I went up there in May a couple of years ago and the wisteria still had some blooms on it, where the benches are in the park. Another great spot for Notre Dame photos is to stay on the left bank and walk east along the Seine. You don’t need to go down by the water just stay up top. You can get a great shot of the back and side of the church. I’m not really a morning person but I do try and get up early once a trip to take photos. Last trip I got some good photos of the Louvre and pyramids with the sun rising through them and with no one around. From there I walked up towards the Opera Garnier and got some photos with almost no cars in front of it, from a few lights down. This next trip I think I’ll try and get that Eiffel Tower view with few people around and Bir Hakeim shot. I’m going to try and find that spot you did in a video years ago where you get the shot of the Eiffel Tower between the to apartment buildings or at least I think they are apartments. It seems to be a know spot for photographers but not most tourists.
Ah yeah, there are some great shots of the Eiffel Tower through the buildings lining long streets. Puxan and I are talking about doing another round of those =D
Jay Swanson how did my comment end up on this video? Lol I was watching the video you did with Puxan and Rob. That is really strange. I must have let it roll to the next video and responded to this one again.
Hi Jay, new to your channel, and you're extremely helpful and informative. Thst being said, can you direct me to any and all of your videos that Georgia appears in? Lol. Sorry couldn't help it. Want your views to go up? Put her in the thumbnail!!
My Mapstr is available to my Patrons - you can check that out here (and if you jump in before February, you'll get a postcard too! 😀👍) www.patreon.com/posts/announcing-map-19887642 And then I have a PDF guide to the city as well that you can download which has tons of information on the city along with over 240 recommendations bit.ly/ParisVloggersGuide (use the code JANUTASTIC for 20% off - it should still be valid for a few more days too) I hope you have great trip!
Teacher's pass - I wish I had a Tetris pass! Sounds like way more fun. When I taught English here a few years back, I got a pass that let me into national museums/monuments for free. I wish I still had it!
Do you know about Butte Bergeyre? www.unjourdeplusaparis.com/paris-balades/promenade-butte-bergeyre Also supposed to be great views from several places in the Parc Buttes Chaumont innnn case you ever do a part deux
Just found this video... (March 2021).... You never should have made the "anti- social comment!!! Look at what you did!!!😳😳🤯🤯. (joking if course). Thank for the recommendations about Parc de Belleville and the restaurant at Pompedieu!!!
Jay, just saw this video and enjoyed it tremendously! You seem to have no end of gorgeous female friends -- you're quite the ladies' man, you devil! Question: did you ever get to the top of Sacré Cœur?
Awesome places you been to, and scintillating views. That friend of you, she is very pretty. You guys could go out often and make nice videos like this.
The view from the Sacre is so BORING! JUST a flat cityscape of roof tops! Nothing to the horizon but rooftops. And then a flat, horizon line. BORING!!! Don't rush if you go at all.

The nice part about Printemps is that you can look north as well as south!
Thanks for the tips!! :D
14:05 can you go to the part not covered in glass? Or is that only for restaurant patrons?
16:30 what if you already ordered tickets online?
The view at the end .....wow
There are some great ones in this city 😀👍
Your video is veryyy helpful for me. I’ll visit Paris in March. Hope you get more and more viewers. So good!
thanks Alderina! I hope you have a great time while you're here!
Was it good??
You definitely need to do personal tour guides for money. You are really great at showing us the important and most fun areas of Paris.
I've done a couple here and there - I enjoy it, but I'm not sure I want to do it all the time. I'm glad the videos give you such confidence though =D
Heading to Paris for the first time in May and I’ve recently found your vlog. I really enjoy it. Love all the street art. You should do a whole post dedicated to it!
+Toby Lewellen thanks! And for sure, I'm waiting for it to warm up a bit first ha
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I've done 5 shoots in Paris over the past few years and I'm always amazed at the unique views of the City of Light everytime I returned... and after I viewed your video too! Thank you!
There's so much to see here - you can never get enough =D
i liked the one where you can enjoy the view and grab a drink, would be a cool place to hang out at night
Jeff Beltran then get over here

Good flight home, Jay. Be safe.
Thanks Rene!

Absolutely!
I might be going to Paris sometime in 2019 and your videos have been very helpful.
I'm glad to hear that!
I super love it all 💘💘💘💘
😎👍
Great inspiration, thanks..
My pleasure! =D

It's been a long time since I've been there - that's a great spot for sure =D Thanks!
The best view of Paris is from the top on Tour Montparnasse...because then you can't see Montparnasse :D
;D
Very cool views today . also try going on top of Notre Dame They have some great gargoyles an awesome views
It is cool to see the gargoyles up close =D
La defence modern arch, mont parnasse tower ( the best view because it's the only place in Paris that you can't see the tower you're in) ,& the park butts chaumont

Damn it Jay! now I have to add these to my itinerary! haha thanks a bunch
Happy to add to the madness =D

Wow, great views, space invaders, squiddies and that awkward statue! Awesome vlog 👍🏻
We packed a lot in, haha
Does Giorgia have an Instagram? Asking for a friend. 😅
How do we access the map you talked about?
My Mapstr is available to my Patrons - you can check that out here (and if you jump in before February, you'll get a postcard too! 😀👍) www.patreon.com/posts/announcing-map-19887642

At around 16:30min you mention a “Tetris pass” (I think?), could you explain what that is ? I’m all for saving time and money :D
Teacher's pass - I wish I had a Tetris pass! Sounds like way more fun. When I taught English here a few years back, I got a pass that let me into national museums/monuments for free. I wish I still had it!
And France has a LOT of holidays!
Damn she's cute!
She is French what! ^^
Yes, but be careful. The guy says at 09:50 she does rugby, volleyball, half.marathons, and kickboxing. 0:58 She's originally Italian.
Hi Jay, how did it go with WAYAWAY?
Hopefully I'll see them this week =)
Really great news, cant wait to see the vlog!!!!!!!!!!!
I was hoping you'd go up that tower that claims to have "the best view in Paris" because I didn't as it was quite expensive...
Don't worry, I did! I linked to it in the info button, but it's here as well: ruclips.net/video/KJqVUVIhfqk/видео.html
Aah. must have missed that one.. Thanks :)
I've got you covered ;D
Slight misspelling at 17:20. Otherwise an excellent video. I'll be there right after Thanksgiving.
It's good to know that Paris looks just the same in 2107.
Haha, whoops
JAY. HOW DO YOU GET TO VLOG IN THE STREETS OF PARIS 😭
No one has arrested me yet?
Do Parisians look at you weirdly when you do? 😬
Do you know about Butte Bergeyre? www.unjourdeplusaparis.com/paris-balades/promenade-butte-bergeyre Also supposed to be great views from several places in the Parc Buttes Chaumont innnn case you ever do a part deux
That looks familiar, but I don't think I've been - I'll have to check it out at some point =D

Jay, just saw this video and enjoyed it tremendously! You seem to have no end of gorgeous female friends -- you're quite the ladies' man, you devil! Question: did you ever get to the top of Sacré Cœur?
I have yet to make it to the top, I'm saving it (I don't know what for yet, but it'll be good 😄)
Awesome places you been to, and scintillating views. That friend of you, she is very pretty. You guys could go out often and make nice videos like this.
Georgia is a beautiful lady. Is she your girlfriend?
Sounds like my visit will coincide with anti-social time. In case you have some time within the next week, check your email.
Will do!
Slow down when you speak, that will help you a lot in many ways...
Don't give unsolicited advice, and you too shall go far...
The view from the Sacre is so BORING!
JUST a flat cityscape of roof tops! Nothing to the horizon but rooftops. And then a flat, horizon line. BORING!!! Don't rush if you go at all.
Film the view please, not just your face, too much
But my face is the finest view of them all ;D
Jay Swanson haha great content man, thanks for your insiders tip
