You know they actually filmed in the real Catacombs of Paris? It was hard, as there really is no cell service or electricity, they had to use the enviroment around them, as there was very little use of props. Ben Feldman who plays George has Claustrophobia, so he had to keep taking breaks, bless him!
One of my favorites, the girl from the club who stares the camera down, is also the leader of the cult choir, and the one who pushes the guy to his death during the descent- they said it’s Marie Antoinette possibly because it has the year she died etched in the wall right before she appears. The dark robed figure was satan sitting on the throne of hell- This movie has so many conspiracy theory meanings, and it’s why I love it
24:07 she does actually say "As Above So Below" in this scene, you must have missed it. When she approaches the painting she says "this is 'As Above, So Below" before she explains what that phrase means :) This is one of my favorite movies I'm so glad you guys watched it!!!
Yes the Emerald Tablet. They really described it well but most people aren't familiar with this stuff so it went over their heads. Even in Christian prayer is a reference to this "As in heaven, So on earth".
I love the fact that Cody is so observant and into solving things. This is why you guys are one of the few reaction channels I watch. You're not painfully dumb and not paying attention 😂
What I really disliked is that the main character showed no remorse for bringing everyone down there to their deaths. She got what she wanted and just went about her day.
I feel like she was just too overwhelmed in the moment, first trying to get out, and then just horror stricken and traumatized once they were actually out of hell.
did she? if you mean the interview at the end that happened before the whole trip. if you mean the shot where they all hugged it was probably just a massive moment of relief to have survived until all the emotions settle in.
Like you've never gone shopping at a Costco before... 🙄😂 You need sacrifices. Geraldine is gonna break her back lifting pallets of Ragu. Dave is going to be crushed under the bulk pianos. Sadly the youngest, strongest one gets lost in the frozen food aisles...
@@pazvega5895 even if they agreed initially everyone was against it. She lied to the group that knew the catacombs about where they were going and they initially were against it. This all could’ve been avoided if she just listened to them when they said no.
This movie is such a hidden treasure. It’s one of my favorite found footage movies. Plus the Paris catacombs are actual human remains. I’m glad that people are starting to discover this movie. Y’all should Wedigoons explanation of Dante’s Inferno and the nine circles of Hell. Since spooky season is here can y’all please react to the movie Trick'r'Treat!!
This movie along with all the movies like this gives you the most important lesson life can give you “fuck around and find out” Scarlett fucked around at the max and found out at the max
The actor you recognized is from the TV series Superstore. And, the ending...many people who watched this believe that they didn't escape. They are in some kind of weird, upside-down, alternate version of Paris/Hell.
I watched this in the theater when it came out and I felt this wave of adrenaline by the time it was over. The sound effects are insane. Absolutely love this movie 🥳☠️
Wow, I could never do it in a theater. I first saw it last year and could barely handle the adrenalin and the anxiety. I had to pause and walk away a few times 😅 Benji getting almost stuck stressed me out for the whole movie 😢 I have seen it two more times in the next day. I would say it is one of my fave horror movies 😊
Yeah it’s not super played out…I only know of one other one called Catacombs from 2007 and it has the singer Pink in it. Not as good as this one though.
I love the small nods this movie gives to things like Nicholas Flamel and the belief that there was an entrance to Hell that went through the middle of the earth to both sides, etc.
Btw the guy burning in the car and the guy from beginning of their tour telling them where to find pap is the same person!!!! He wants pap down their to pay for his sin!
Cult Classic for sure right here. It has lots of charm despite the low-budgety feel of found footage camerawork. I’ve always loved movies like this about exploring remote or hidden locations with scary outcomes. I’m too much of a wimpy man to go into caves or outdoor adventures myself, so I lay in bed and safely watch others do it x)
Awesome!!! This movie won me over for my favorite found footage horror, which was Blair Witch before! Also, Ben Feldman was in Cloverfield I believe, but I know him best from Superstore
just started watching your vids today but i love your commentary ◡̈ you can tell you guys are really engaged w the things you watch and it’s fun and refreshing appreciate you both ❤❤❤❤
honestly i wasn't expecting much from this movie but that was really good and François Civil is in this (papillon) i adore him (he's hot🤣) he's pretty famous in France probably one of the best actors we got same for Ben Feldman i love him
Dude getting buried upside down on a fire pit nails down the Dante allegory much better than most movies trying to do it. I mean, if you wanna do Dante right, apply those over the top punishments.
Love this movie. The second half was a bit... thrown together somewhat, after she discovered what she truly was, but the whole concept and the visuals and sounds were fantastic. It's not perfect, but it's enjoyable!
Same. The only two thing bothering me are the ending, the kiss and all. And also how the inscription translated to english coveniently rhimes beautifuly 😂
The last shift (2014) or its reimagining Malum (2023) would be great to see from you guys :D Also, a must see for you, would be "Talk to me" (also from 2023)
hi 😇 this is my first time commenting but i’ve been subbed for a little while, love your guys reactions. you guys may have said it in the video or someone else may have already commented it.. but! in case neither have happened - fun fact! this movie was filmed mostly in the ACTUAL paris catacombs, only few scenes were done in separate quarries (like the car on fire scene) …. sooo they actually went down there oof 💀 i visited the paris catacombs in 2018 (after had seeing this movie), and i was honestly terrified… the parts that aren’t he main tour parts… ARE VERY DARK 😳
hey guys, if you like the whole mythical concept you should also watch Triangle (by christopher smith), it has that element but it not too in your face and after that you would definitely want to watch the explanations about it cause that is literally what happened to me after watching it at 3 at night 😅🤣
This movie is so scurry. Super underrated. The sound design is insane! P.S. I love love love this channel! You two are so cute! Some other shows I think you’d dig: 1.)True Blood it’s got the perfect amount of camp but it also is quite serious enough as well. 2.)AMERICAN HORROR STORY COVEN!!! Especially if you loved Emma Robers in Scream Queens. 3.) Walking Dead the first several seasons are great. 4.) Stranger Things IS SO INCREDIBLE! Love love love that show! But that’s if you haven’t seen them that is.
Ahhh, True Blood..I rarely see anyone mention it. Would be great if they could react to it but with the state YT is and what True Blood is like,it could be very difficult 😅
I just binge watched Tru Blood for the third time in July and I’m currently binging all of the AHS seasons. Coven is hands down my favorite. Honestly I loved Apocalypse as well. Excellent list my friend!
i didnt know nicolas flamel was a real person until i watched this movie in 2020. i thought he and the sorcerer's (philosopher's) stone were made up for harry potter.
I watched this movie late at night at like 13 home alone and I literally just sat staring at the tv after for so long. It was soooo terrifying, one of favourites definitely!!!!
Movie recommendation for you to react to: THE SADNESS (2022), very good Thai horror film, brutal and insane from start to finish (literally), you will enjoy it.
30:45 For those who are confused by this scene, those three are currently in the final circle of Hell, home of the traitors and a certain fallen angel. So it is meant to imply that the cloaked figure sitting in the chair is Satan.
I really enjoyed this movie. I’m a sucker for found footage horror. This is really an under appreciated little gem of a movie. I really enjoyed y’alls reactions and commentary as always.
And so it turns out, that the REAL philosopher's stone was the friends we made along the way.... Also, I think Dante's inferno could definitely be sourced as Christian mythology. No more real than anything else in the religion.
Im in no way a found footage film fan in any way shape or form, but this movie is one of my absolute favorites! For some reason it reminds me of the ninth gate.
Have you two watched hereditary or midsommar from ari aster? You’ve seen a lot of movies but I noticed I haven’t seen you two react any of the A24 films
6:05 OK so I looked it up: That’s Ben Feldman. You may recognize him from Friday the 13th and Superstore. He was also in an ad for that stupid Royal Match game 😂😂
Well Nicolas Flamel did exist. He was born in the XIVth century and was a writer, a copist and a librarian. He got a nice fortune and people believed it was because of alchemistry, because at that time many people believed in it.
20:20 "it's also a little bit historically inaccurate say that before Copernicus, everyone just agreed that everything revolved around the Earth" That's not what they're saying. They're saying the specific group of people they've studied who built that passageway believed everything revolved around the Earth.
OMFG YESSSS I liked the video even before it started playing cause I know it’ll be hilarious lmao I still remember how that movie traumatized me back then, such a wtf movie
This entire movie is an intentional and direct parallel to the levels of hell depicted in Dante’s Inferno. So nice catch on the reference!
