I heard the song the same way, Joshua. I never deciphered the words, "Lord we love you." As a result, I always imagined Robin left the lyrics purposely vague on who/what was in "the sky," so people of almost ANY faith could appreciate the song by projecting their own faith into it. Pretty inclusive, really.
