@technical_expert_24x7 overload is not the reason for wheel slip. Overload will cause loss of tractive effort and the locomotive will fail to pull wagons but that is not what is happening here.
Wheel slip is caused because of loss of friction between the locomotive wheel and the rail. This may be caused by several factors including steeper gradient, poorly maintained tracks, wet tracks due to rail/ snow and a light weight locomotive. The weight of the locomotive has to be a minimum value to force it to stick to the rails while hauling loads. Also wheel slip is very common in those locomotives where power is produced only at certain wheels instead of all wheels. In steam and diesel hydraulic locomotives like the one shown in the above video, power produced directly by the diesel engine or steam is converted into rotational force of one/two sets of wheels only whereas the other wheels are just carriages connected with links. However, in Diesel electric or Electric locomotives each axel has its independent electric motor producing power.
Simply put it can be compared to a 4 wheel drive vs 2 wheel drive cars in sand/ deserts. 4 wheel will sail through and 2 wheel will get stuck.
We can see much higher power rated Steam locomotives 2400 Hp also faced wheel slip and it will not make any difference if WDS 4 D would have an engine of higher power producing higher values than the rated 750 Hp or if the wagon load was reduced. It is still experience wheel slip. Though wagon load does contribute to increase in wheel slip, that is not the main culprit. On a smoothe metal surface rail, a load if once overcomes the inertia is much easier to haul as friction is very less, that is the whole point of rail being bettter than road for transportation.
Wheel slip can be reduced by either increasing overall weight of locomotive (that is the reason, Diesel electric locomotives have higher efficiency than purely electric locomotives) as was done with steam locomotives where weight of tender defined the hauling capacity or it can be overcome by increasing friction between rails and wheels i.e. using sand dispensers. Many times such dispensers are unserviceable in old locomotives due to poor maintenance and lack of spares.
My childhood most favourite locomotive❤🎉😊
Wds4d red colour small diesel locomotives are in my mind permanently and are also in my parents mind permanently too
This is concerning:- driver salary 15000 per month for 12 hours shift no essential educational qualification needed. Also, I saw a woman crossing a moving train with the grass bunch on head. Then a few people running with their cycles and also on their feet. Why are people so reckless and careless?
@@TheFunTechGuy24 yes sir
Driver are very careless
10+ people killed in railway crossing with this loco
When driver crossed the crossing and people started moving and then driver put train in reverse in 2011
Many people died from this loco
This one is a shunting locomotive, vague in 1960s made by Suri & Nayar made at Whitefield, Banglore.
Made in chitranjan locomotive works
This loco motive
Written besides the serial numbers of this loco motives👍
We have one wds 4 variant currently in working condition at Texmaco Limited Agarpara
Very nice
These locos are very good
But looks different
This is still using
They are kept in shade from 4 years
Because they are privately owned by power house and purchased second hand from railway in 2002
Power house is very old 1965 so it has been demolished and new power house is build in same area which will start on July 2024
Hope these engine will not be scraped and reused
As of now 3 of these 2 red colour 1 blue is kept in shade in power house premises
Wheel slip?
Yes brother
60 empty coal wagons attached on this engine
Suitable range is max 20 wagons
Overload is done on this engine
