what i love with Kaspersky is that it doesnt detect my cracks as trojan.. gotta love those ruskies
exactly and many pirated games like fitgirl repack or trusted uploaded like scene group codex, plaza, cpy never detect as virus so you never need to turn off your av when you want to install those games XD

In 2020, if your game torrent is detected as a virus, it probably is.
I got my first computer probably in 2001 and from then I'm using kaspersky. It never have disappointed me for a single time. Kudos to kaspersky.

I've been a Kaspersky Total Security Customer for many years. Last year I changed to their security cloud for all my devices. I trust it 100% and I don't even think about malware. I know Kaspersky will keep me right.
Any features from Total Security that you particularly miss in Security Cloud?
@@portalsam7 well we get total security alongside security cloud, they work at the same time and are installed together. On both my computer and phone it works great.
As for features, I get all of them from total security anyway as part of the licence. But what I do like is that security cloud actively looks to see if my password has been compromised, checks important security updates that affect me and updates apps for me to keep them up to date.
You can see the current rate of infections and types too.

@@sigmaswan2969 no. Security cloud is being phased out as it was not user friendly to have 2 apps. I think all new licences only require you to install Internet security.
It's no longer available as 2 programs on pc, they've already joined them together.
Awesome test as usual. I am using it for more than 6 months now, in business environment and private and found it to be very quite and fast. It's also nice to know it performs on top notch level. I couldn't be happier with it. Thank you for the effort ! :)

@@fliqpythekiller9950 yeah but the samples are NOT in a VM. that folder is from his main system. As long as he's careful he should be fine, although accidents can happen.
I assumed the malware was stored on a shared Linux system drive on his network like a raspberry pi. Anyways, that's what I would have done.
No.. That's not the mad lad thing about him. He has every version of every antivitus program he ever tested installed running all at the same time like some all-consuming antivitus monster No virus could escape.

Thats a good effort from Kaspersky! Best way to compare these AVs is to run fresh clones one after the other with a different AV on each with the same malware folder. Thats what I like to do. Been years since i did this though, be fun to do it again.

It would be great if multiple providers were tested against the same set (for that video) in maybe 4-5 videos so that most if not all variables are eliminated. This would be like a grand showdown between different providers as they are all going to be trying to be blocking the same thing. Also, a control is important! I really hope this is done, so that the test is more 'convincing' (I'm not doubting your expertise in any way, I just want to see this showdown, seems really exciting!)

I knew my boy was going to make it.
Almost 100% ratio except for that probably innocuous chinese thing (and most probably blocked after installed), all of this with only the normal protection settings. I think it would be a flat 100% if the test is redone with maximum settings. I'm genuinely impressed by this free version of Kaspersky, almost to the point of considering to install it on my PC and replace Windows Defender

Maybe it's just me being more cautious, but the few times I accidentally downloaded malware, Defender immediately blocked it before I could even execute it

Just use Brain.exe and you dont need any AV.

What I would really like to see tested is Windows Defender combined with the free KART (Kaspersky Anti Ransomware Tool), and/or Malwarebytes AntiRansomware and/or AntiExploit.
Nice thing about free is not just... well... the free part... but not worrying about your subscription running out (although Kaspersky discontinued V3 of KART and made getting V4 a pain)

I am very fascinated by these results, how is it that Kaspersky can release such an amazing AV for free and yet still survive. This is just as good as their main premium product for almost all users from what I can tell. Even if they pushed ads into Kaspersky free or tried to push the premium version much harder (Avast) it would still be easily ignored and be a fantastic product completely free. It's a great consumer focused idea, but where is the profit?
Great video as always, keep reviewing security programs, you've helped me a lot in my knowledge on Antivirus products and how good they really are.
Edit: The program is missing a firewall, that is why it is free, it could still be a good choice assuming you trust windows firewall but I would recommend against it. Now I see how it is able to be free.
The general profit of free AVs is the user data, especially with Kaspersky
Not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, it's well known that when a product is free, it means that the user is the product itself
@@ilcuriosonedelweb3831 Although I can see how user data could be gathered by Antivirus products, I dare say there would be laws preventing the more "useful" data from being collected. I have done some research and it appears as though the free products (that offer premium versions/features) tend to rely on up-selling. I can see how that might work, although it still seems silly when it comes to Kaspersky's product in particular, as it is much more of a complete package than what most free products are (Bitdefender).
What free antivirus has a firewall anyway? Only one that I remember was a while ago and that was Zonealarm. Windows Firewall does the job just fine anyway, if you want to be fully secure use a hardware firewall. Otherwise most users will be fine with the windows one.
@@yotoprules9361 I dislike that way of thinking, when you say things like "Windows Firewall does the job just fine anyway", because a lot of people regurgitate that same information when it comes to Windows Defender, which is an uninformed and almost wrong statement. Windows Defender is not enough for most people because most people actually do care about their security, they just don't know enough to make an informed decision.

Never really used antivirus besides the bundled Windows Defender. Been like this for years. After watching and liking this good video and more of your channel i thought id give it a go. After trouble with getting the download, then forcing me to sign up an email, finally installed (without me being able to set different language) and run a complete scan. (For nothing)
Hundred of thousands of files scanned and No threats found. Only some ImgBurn installer with OpenCandy on it. After many years of heavily using the computer for all kinds of stuff, many hours a day.
Also when doing scans, this software seems to completely go through compressed files including large (many GB) and multiple parts .7z and .rar files. Checked the settings and found an option claiming to skip "combined files" larger than x MB. Having it checked Did nohting in my experience. I just cant seem to figure out how to exclude large 7z or rar files. Or at least simply exclude those file types. Searched online for it and even then nothing. Maybe a bug, or maybe brain.exe too dumb for that, but still kept computer threat free for years.
This meant the scans normally are stuck at 99% for too long, extracting all those files for nothing and writing huge temp files on my C drive SSD for it.
I just ended up restoring a disk image backup (which I do do regularly) to before trying the Kaspersky cloud antivirus. I agree it may be top notch antivirus, but I dont think I can justify having it, at least without the skip large 7z files option.

The best antivirus is the one which is most used worldwide, since it only needs one sample (aka 1 infected pc) to protect the others. No matter if it's a free or paid version, it will always perform better than the most claimed "Best AntiVirus against everything".

I am still a fan of what I have seen lately by Bit Defender but Kaspersky (and old favorite from even Windows 95 and "AVP" days) has made it easy for what to switch to from Avast with all of their issues these days with selling using data

One thing to note about Kaspersky: they have separate demo times for every version of their product. So you can get almost half a year of full protection for free by using each version for a month.
Another thing is that at least for me, the Internet Security was incompatible with Hyper-V: the virtual network cards that Hyper-V generates drive KAV crazy and it blocks network at every reboot and more.
Is there a way to disable those annoying notifications pop ups? I had all the notifications unchecked on Kaspersky settings but I still keep getting notifications for upgrading. Thanks.

I have noticed during test there was a pretty big Network usage by Kaspersky. Was that because of the shared network folder executable or kaspersky really uses so much bandwidth? I remember your early videos when you had crappy ISP. Like 50Mbit would be no go for you in that times.

It made my PC a lot quicker going from Avast to Kaspersky so I'm pretty happy with it.
I came from AVG, the thing uses up too much resources for what it is. Kaspersky however, oh boy, it provides 10/10 protection and barely has any impact, and ive noticed my pc go faster eversince i made the switch. No wonder my dad has always been a kaspersky guy.

Cattaton The vm hard drive is dynamically allocated meaning as you put more data on it the size increases, and no you dont need any dvd to setup a vm

I don't know if anyone else will run into this but I had to uninstall Malware Bytes 4.x before Kaspersky would install correctly. Been using it for about a month and it seems to be working well.
What happens, if I don't have any active internet connection. It's not possible to have internet all the time. Are cloud based protections works in that scenario? I have no idea, so please help by replying.

Been using it for a while now since Kaspersky replaced Free AV with it. It's fine I guess. I'd like to see a test with Bitdefender AV Free.
Literally just do one yourself it takes no more than a couple hours for some solid malware and to lock off your vm effectively first time round, get to it instead of watching this.

I think bitdefender has many signetures named trojan generic because most are automatic signitures

I've been using Kaspersky for 6 years now and haven't had a single problem so far. One thing I dislike about Kaspersky products is that they bundle the trial version of Kaspersky Secure Connection with installation of security products. Of course this program is easy to uninstall cleanly but it is bloat nonetheless.
Also, I love how the refresh rate of Task Manager matches the rhythm of the music!

I don't understand what this version actually is. Is it a replacement for the free antivirus they used to offer? I don't see a place to download that anymore, only way to get something from them called antivirus is to pay. Have they just gone to pay only? Or us the cloud actually antivirus as well?

I have used Kaspersky Security Cloud, and although it does bring amazing results, it also, in my experience, has a way of commandeering your desktop and requiring that you follow their' suggestions or be continually harassed by pop-up screens foretelling grave results of refusing to do so. I don't have that problem with Bit Defender. I concluded that KSC was more hassle than it was worth. That's my two-cents. ^_^

saket sharma I don’t think so, because you update your local database (so unless you keep your computer offline for a long time and the database is significantly out of date)
Alex Kramer Kaspersky also uses internet to detect more viruses, thats why it has "cloud" in its name, you could see in the video the network usage was jumping pretty high when kaspersky was dealing with all those viruses, so yeah i think having internet does make the detection rate better
Ken it seems like you are right, they use KSN to send information about a file (not the full file) to the network when it performs suspicious tasks and it was not yet marked as a virus in the local database. This way they can instantly flag virusses on all systems based on behaviour instead of only signatures, more info can be found here:

all these particular samples were detected using the signatures meaning they are stored offline. But if you get hit with a new sample which no AV has signatures for, having a internet connection can help it decide whether the file executed is malicious or not.

Edit - Avast is really great for a free AV. Once you set it up it won't even show a single popup when you use your device. Only when necessary the popup for on demand scan or .exe file scan would be shown.

I used to get kaspersky and recommend it all the time... only issues i have with it was that selling user data (i think thats what it was) from a few years back

You may consider elevating the settings of avast. Waiting for such content on youtube but till date didnot get one..
