I am finally tackling the living room wall! I am so excited to add more colour to our home and make this place better than ever. Today we are attempting to do a really affordable geometric accent wall in our living room. Come along with me as I upgrade our space. Enjoy and love you so much!

Remove the vent. Paint the wall. Paint the vent off the wall, then re-install. Same with the duplex outlet. Unscrew it and pull it clear of the wall, tape it. Paint the wall, then re-install. If you can find a 'for plastics' spray paint that comes close to your wall color, you can spray paint the outlet - several light coats - and the outlet cover. Do not use Latex Paint and a roller!

I agree with the black cabinets, because it looks like you can see it from the living room so you wouldn’t want the olive colour to clash with the accent wall

Black for the lower cabinets! I feel like it’s more timeless. As much work as it’s gonna take, I’d pick the color that’s less likely to get “old” quick.

Pro tip, use frog tape and caulk the edge of the tape before painting, pull the tape before the caulk sets up. Nice crisp line.

I love how the wall turned out! I vote for black cabinets, black always makes things look smaller and with your kitchen being small the cabinets looking smaller will make it seem like your kitchen is a little bigger. Plus it goes with your front door.... either color though will look so good!

I’m totally team olive green - it’s stunning! Also, black, though also lovely, tends to absorb light so it might make the kitchen feel very dark and small (speaking from experience).

Also, have you ever considered changing your outlets to black? Not just the covers but the actual plugs. I changed mine this summer and it was very inexpensive (like $2 a plug) and super easy to do.
I think black would look good with the accent wall. Don't get me wrong I love olive that is my favorite color

Olive would be beautiful, bring the two rooms together and be a nice pop of color, but the accent wall has a green hue to it. So I think black would break up the color and balance it out. Either way, I know the end result will be gorgeous 😍
Waaaao looks like a magazine cover. Also I think that the green cabinets will not complement each other. But with the black lower cabinets will look amazing and will complement with the teal perfectly
The tool that you picked up for cutting the wood pieces for your accent wall is called a miter box.

That green is GORGEOUS!!!!. Green is a tricky colour for a room, especially some of its shades. I know people who are big camouflage green fans and...well they ended with vomit on their walls. Sometimes what we love hurts us. Haha
But you chose wisely as the Knight from The Last Crusader said. The wall looks great. Though I thought you gonna leave the boards light. Idk why. I liked the...juxtaposition was the word I think. But I like it painted, too. I would have left them light, maybe that's why I wanted to see it. Still, awesome result! Excellent job! You are my hero!
"A little tiny piece of trimming up there' is called crown molding. However. if you border the base and sides with a simple flat base molding or similar, you can run a strip across the top and have a nice straight line all around.

I'm getting ready to do one in my bedroom. The wall is black and I'll be doing random length boards some painted in black some in gold. I also painted my kitchen cabinets myself and changed out the hardware.
My 5 YO daughter likes the white + black cabinets 😊

I agree with Black lowers. More for me I feel like the olive might look weird when you're looking in from the living room with the teal wall. Otherwise i would have 100% been for olive, I loved that look.
You can tape the cealing and after that you can use some acrylic caulk to seal the edge. This way you get crisp edges. Just a tip.. works like a charm. For the next time 😉

PAINT THE STRIPS BEFORE adhering them to the wall!
You can purchase a nail gun from Harbor Freight for the price of a couple of rentals and, if you treat it nicely it will last for decades of home use - or, sell it as Barely Used on eBay of Craigslist.
