Love all your tutorials Nina. There are very few influencers who actually take the time to explain in detail each step and the reasons why make-up is applied a certain way to give you different look. Thank you for taking the time to create different looks and tips and tricks. I look forward to each lesson that you provide.
I’m turning 44 in a few weeks and I’ve just learned how to contour, mostly through your videos. Can’t wait to try this method, that soft focus look is so beautiful!
I'm one of those who uses full coverage foundation due to acne scars. I contour after I apply a high coverage foundation and then use the setting powder. This works well for me. You can apply makeup so many different ways. Do what's best for you and your skin type. Nina, can you do a video on countering after foundation has been applied? I'm sure your followers would appreciate it.
Where have you been all my life ?? I’m seriousness I’ve learned so much in this one video !!! I ty gorgeous.. now I’ll be binge watching the next few days !!! 🙏🏽🥰❤️💐
Everything I started thinking and wondering along the way you'd answer. 😌 You're absolutely skilled, beautiful, and an excellent teacher. You've explained all of it so well, and I really appreciate you for making this sort of video. ❤
Thank you so much for this information....you are the best teacher ever and the best make up artist I've seen....so informative and just to let you know watching your channel inspired me to get brushes that I so needed....I've bought the hourglass, Charlotte Tilbury complexion, SIGMA F85 and the real techniques and can't wait to start using them....thank you so much Nina...you are the best ❤
This make up tutorial on underpainting has been a complete game changer for me when applying my makeup 🙌🏻💄💞 thank you so much I love all your makeup tutorials I learn so much from them so thank you 😘💞
I absolutely love this technique! It looks so much more flawless. If you try it I promise you will love it. It took me a few times finding my contour shade, but I found it. You just can’t go in heavy with the foundation! That defeats the whole purpose of this technique! You look so beautiful! ❤
I’ve never heard of this technique before but I tried it yesterday!! Where have you been all my life. Thank you sooo much I have to say my makeup looked ON POINT ❤️❤️ love your videos soooo much thank you for sharing your tips and tricks with us xoxo❤
So I've been doing this for a month now... have the brushes you use... it makes a world of difference. I decided to re-watch it, because usually I am getting ready and running out the door, so doing a quick version. It was great to re-watch it as it highlighted what I was doing wrong... so REALLY glad you explain it soo well... I need to buy a less coverage makeup for sure. Thanks a ton🙏
Hello. I’m a new subscriber and can I just say how helpful your tutorials are??? I haven’t worn makeup in a while and had to restart my collection. After watching this video, I tested out your underpainting technique and went to work. I was able to do a no makeup makeup look successfully and even got comments from my friends at how nice my makeup looked! I’m completely doing this technique from now on! Thank you so much for sharing 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Wow. My mind is blown. You are amazing and I thank you for sharing this and be available to helping so many women. My God bless you for not keeping this for yourself. Thank you for being transparent and clear. You are amazing.
I’m new here and have loved your videos. I’ve just started wearing makeup more instead only on sundays and special occasions and have found you so helping. Your the only artist I like to follow and love that you educate. I’ve started wearing contour and am not very educated on makeup. I don’t really know what it does but when I watch your videos I love that you teach us how to put it on. That is everything!!! I’ve seen you use three concealers and am considering trying it out. I’m just a little confused but on the lighter concealer. Is that how it feels on my face or shade? If I have contour do I need the third concealer that is several shade darker?? Love your videos and that you educate people. Your an incredible human!!❤ God bless you.
I would never have thought of doing underpainting and never heard of it until I saw your tutorials you just amaze me Nina on how you literally explain in such depth. I have bought the dark Nars concealer and will definitely give this a go. Thank you for another great tutorial ❤️
Just came across your channel last night, and oh my god. I jusssttt can’t get over your videos. I’m definitely going to try your technique. Thanks love ❤
🙏🏽 thank you for your incredible work and understanding to details you have elevated my makeup game to a whole new level. Thanks a million times over .
You are amazing, thank you! Love your natural and enhanced look. Would you use lipstick in place of cream blush? Also, would be good to also discuss differently shaped faces...❤
I have rosacea. I’ve been told to use a green primer under my foundation. Do I apply the primer then use your highlighting and contour steps on top of the green primer? By the way, so glad I’ve found your videos. I’ve been a teacher for many years, you are definitely up there as a brilliant teacher.
Loving your tutorials, so im depth without being overwhelming. Just one question, I know you mentioned this technique does not work with a full coverage foundation, but does it wotk with medium coverage foundation?
Hi Nina! I have pitted scars on my nose. Can I still contour it with the dark concealer but not apply the lighter? Or is that pointless? I find the lighter shade really emphasizes my pitted scars. I did watch your pitted scars video and excited to try those techniques as well!
Hey Nina.. great tips… loved it & I am improving my make up skills coz of you alone… can you give some tips for make up for women above 60… Thanks & Happy New Year to you ❤
I recently found your channel and I love it. Getting a masterclass from the comfort of my bedroom. You are beautiful btw. Can’t wait to try the under painting technique tomorrow.
I tried your technique today and went to Macys at Mac counter to ask a question and the lady said she love my makeup. What I find I don’t have to use too much makeup and it looks great. Thank you.
Your tutorials are so helpful, detailed & informative. I’m a recent subscriber & I’ve learned so much from you already. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us!
I absolutely love your channel & im so glad I found it. I can’t wait to try this technique. 1st question, what characteristics should you look for when shopping for a foundation that will work with this? Are they categorized as minimal coverage or sheer coverage vs full coverage. Could you also do a video with the full make up look from start to finish? I would look to see how you apply products on top of your foundation. Im curious if you do further face defining on top of the underpainting. I realize this will be a long video. If you did do this, it may be helpful to put chapters in it
Glad you enjoy the channel Neera :) It's best to find a foundation that has light to medium coverage when using the underpainting technique. For example; Nars light reflecting foundation, Hourglass ambient soft glow foundation, Dior forever matte foundation are all good foundations to use with underpainting. Hope this helps!
I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a couple months now and I find your videos highly informative and helpful. I haven’t tried the underpainting technique yet because I’m a bit nervous as a woman in my early 50s. I’m using full-coverage foundations right now, but I will pick up a lighter-coverage one, along with a dark concealer to try it out soon. I’ll let you know how I make out with it! ❤️
Good vid, Nina. Just wondering if it's okay to put powder highlighter on areas I wanted to highlight after putting setting powder or would you do it differently?
What’s the difference between blending black & white contour with wet sponges vs the brushes used on this video? I use wet sponges based on your previous videos but have been interested in switching to brush.
Thank you for this video! I love how you explained all the whys and why nots. I’ve been trying this and as it turns out, I’ve been doing some things wrong. Now I can fix those mistakes. Is there a foundation you would highly recommend to veil this look?
Thank you for your videos. I have never been a makeup wearer, but as I am older, I would like to start. Your videos have been helpful. Would you consider doing a makeover on someone with deep or dark skin? I would love to see an everyday flawless make up look and seeing the products that you use.
Hey Nina. Ive been watching your channel for a few months now and my makeup game is out of this world now. I was just wondering if you could do a video on ' Best drugstore foundations for under painting' :)
I'm so glad to hear that your makeup skills have improved from my videos! I appreciate your support and will keep your suggestion in mind for future videos! Also, a big thanks for your support with the super thanks - appreciate it a lot!
Honestly, I absolutely adore ALL your videos, Nina. Thank you so much for all the effort you make in each of them to explain in full detail the makeup products and techniques, when to use them, as well as how. I am always impatiently waiting for your outstanding educational lessons, and like a college girl, I rush with my copy book, which I labeled "Nina Ubhi: Makeup Tutorial", to my favorite class, taking down notes and highlightering each of the lectures side notes in order not to miss out on anything.❤ 27:47
Thank you for this! 2 questions: 1. Can underpainting work with radiant foundations? I tried this with NARS light reflecting and it seemed to cover everything up. 2. My undertone is so cool that neutral tones still look too yellow. I haven’t been able to find a concealer that’s cool enough to work for contour. Do you know of any brands with cool-toned concealers?
Nina, I first put on my cream contour and concealer, then foundation, then powder my whole face with translucent mattifying powder...and afterwards I put on some light powder contour/bronser over the cheekbones and forehead. However, I've always wondered - some make up artists don't put the powder on the whole face, instead they only put powder concealer/bronser over the cheekbones, and bake the under-eye area and below the cheekbones with lighter shade of powder. Which is better for a combination/oily skin, for a lasting performance?

Thank you Nina! Amazing, amazing, so easy to understand! Do you think underpainting like this would work with powder foundation instead of liquid??
Hi Nina!!! I absolutely love your channel, I am so glad I found you. Quick question, how many shades darker do you recommend for the dark concealer?
You are amazing, thank you! Love your natural and enhanced look. Would you use lipstick in place of cream blush? Also, would be good to also discuss differently shaped faces...❤

Nina !! I get happy when you post 💖
Good vid, Nina. Just wondering if it's okay to put powder highlighter on areas I wanted to highlight after putting setting powder or would you do it differently?
Nina, how many shades of light and dark should we go for contour and sculpt our face. Thank you
That's amazing technique. I must try it. I wonder if you are able to recommend any other products/brushes for this that are more affordable please? X
I absolutely love your technique .I've tried it and it's really works !!! 👌👌👌

A super thanks ❤😂you know your stuff. I understand youare very helpful thanks
I love to watch your makeup videos, they are really helpful
This is fantastic!! New subscriber! How would I decide the darker color for my skin tone?
hi nina, instead of using foundation, can we use cc cushion for replacing the foundation? thank you.
I love how you broke everything down.
Would the same areas apply to an oval face?
Makes perfect sense
I trust you
