Two things about the "This perfume reminds me of" section on Fragrantica: 1) Pay attention to the number/ratio of the 👍🏻 and 👎🏻votes. For example, people seem 50/50 split on whether Prada Paradox Intense reminds them of Donna Born in Roma, whereas Electric Fantasy is at maybe a 2:1 ratio of 👍🏻 to 👎🏻. So, I wouldn't pay any mind to this section when a fragrance has just been released/announced.
I agree with this! Everyone's nose and memories of certain notes in other perfumes can really make for a wild interpretation of what smells like what and I have to say, I rarely to never see dupes unless it's a known dupe. The numbers below are often out voted big time to where they clearly do not smell remotely like the perfume on that page. I take it as a possible similarity, that' as far as I ever go with that.

I use those techniques, but I find that people really don’t perceive perfumes the same way, so the “dupe” has a similar vibe, but it’s rarely identical Also, for anyone interested or curious: oil perfumery! They are very hit or miss. I’ll list the ones that I actually love (however, some of them I’ve never smelled this original or have never compared them side by side. Some of them really have a super similar vibe to the original). They are oils, they usually last at least 5-6h for me, and generally don’t project super far. Hello, keen to know where (websites) to research/order the perfume oils please? I am on the African continent. Even originals are not available or costs hugely inflated. 🙏
Thank you very much for this Video, I have been searching for a dupe for "Midnight Rain La Prairie" because since it was discontinued, the Prices on ebay and other websites went up like crazy. I love this fragrance and I have almost finished 2 Bottles of it even though I used it sparingly.
This is a really great instructional video, but PLEASE KNOW that just because a perfume is listed under the “Reminds me of” section on Fragrantica does not mean the perfume is a dupe or will smell just like the fragrance. I have plenty of perfumes that are listed as similar to each other and, to my nose, they are *quite* different. Yes, sometimes you can find decent dupes, but plenty of times the listed fragrances just have a shared distinctive note, or maybe they smell 30% similar in the opening or 50% similar in the dry down. I’m trying to prevent people from blind buying thinking that they’ll get something just like their favorite perfume. There’s no way to know how similar these perfumes are without sampling.
I literally just found a fragrance that smells just like a candle that I fell in love with!! The candle is Book Loft from BB&W and it’s such a soft and cozy scent! I couldn’t find any recommendations online, so I tried matching the notes. The fragrance is Lake EDP from BY Rosie Jane, and I’ll say.. the opening and even the middle doesn’t smell like the candle AT ALL, (I was super bummed because I was hoping I had figured it out) BUT, the dry down smells just like the candle (to my nose)!!!
Thanks for all the alternate perfume website suggestions! That is super helpful. Michael by Michael Kors is the only floral perfume I have ever liked, and it was discontinued. I do still have a bottle though:)
This is great info! I’ve given up on trying to find a dupe of Womanity by Mugler, but this has rekindled my curiosity. It was my favorite fragrance for years in the early 00’s. I don’t even have a bottle anymore but I have the memory. So far two suggested dupes I tracked down weren’t it.
Saaaaaame! I literally have about 1/4 of a travel spray left that I have hoarded for the past year! I’ve heard that it’s still available in the European market on the Mugler website.. I even called the US customer service and asked if I could bribe them to ship me one 😂! The love for that fragrance is REAL!!
@@SilentSilverJoker Thanks! I checked out the brand’s french site and saw that it’s still available. I have family in Spain and am already looking into ordering a bottle through them or when I visit.
Thanks for this I’ll have to check usually I use RUclips or Reddit. Haven’t had much luck with fragrance websites-you can tell they are pretty old since they tend to give me a headache and end up just throwing away. Dossier has some good scents too but shipping can be pricey.
Please cross reference any notes listed in Fragrantica. I think it’s a great resource as well , and I agree I’m more here for the database than the articles --but , the database is so often wrong . A lot of things will have a note or 5 omitted , or sometimes something random added that is actually not listed as a note by the brand . Things get oddly separated, ex: black amber plum (a variety of plum in sdj 40) gets listed as black amber , and plum on fragrantica . So stuff like that happens often where it will turn one note into 2 .
You may be too young, but there was an old perfume I used to wear from fruits and passions. Aromas geisha or something (terribly named). But, it was very unique I thought, at the time.
I immediately looked for Jill Sander Sun Summer 2020, cuz it was my favourite parfum but is now discontinued. And I think I found a replacement, so thank you for this video🤭
Spot on dupe for Chance Eau Tendre. Chants Tenderina by Maison Alhambra. I have both, sprayed side by side, I can’t tell the difference. Chants Tenderina-$18 *and* it’s an EDP.
Margiela replica blur from 2016ish is a layering fragrance oil that I adore . It smells like cotton flower and I can’t find anything like it that’s remains light and airy . I’m on my third eBay bottle and I think I cleared them out . S/o to the guy in Puerto Rico who kept selling me his stock at a fair price luh yoooo
I'm always on Fragrantica when I'm researching perfume notes in stores, when I'm unable to sniff and going to blind buy. I will say the website still needs work with adding more scents for certain fragrance houses. Also, I'm guessing the similar fragrances listed need to be voted in by others, but if the scent has been long discontinued, it only matters if the votes are there. You can help by commenting on it. For example, one of my favorite discontinued scents is Karmala by Avon. Closest dupe to my nose is Aerin Amber Musk.
There is a lot of anti-LGBT rhetoric pushed out on fragrantica, so they are a controversial site! I personally don't align with some of the beliefs that are being published in their articles.
@@knics33 If you aren't familiar with it yet, it is a very valuable website! I have been using Fragrantica for 2 years and NEVER came across anything she mentioned. The articles are informative and most of them written by people with many years of knowledge behind them (which most of the perfume reviewing RUclipsrs do not possess...)
I just stumbled on an article on there about the new Trump Victory fragrances, written by a co-founder of the site. As you can imagine, the comments were a complete mess
New subscriber here! Glad I found you. I love your info but what I really like is that you get straight to the point of your video. Hate to watch a video where the person talks too much.
Dude hell yes !!! I need to find a perfume that smells like the healing oil from virtue. It legit smells so amazing, better than any perfume ive ever smelled. I wish they would bottle that scent into a perfume omg
one of my all-time favorite gourmand fragrances is the body shop's Brazil nut perfume and body mist, which was discontinued years ago :( I've been holding onto my bottle ever since. I also found one on eBay for $79, but I'm on the hunt for a similar scent. the thing is the alternatives all seem to come from obscure brands that don't do samples, which is soo frustrating. just putting this out there in case anyone knows of a good dupe
My favorite discontinued fragrance is “Maybe Baby “ by Benefit. The original one. Not the changed formula. I’m hoping that Frangrantica, Perfume Buy, Snif and some of the other sites you mentioned can help me find a dupe
I’ve heard they’re super politically right-wing and anti vaxx. That’s what their tagline “free to choose” is about. They’re also based in russia and if you say anything pro-Ukraine or pro-Palestine (I’ve also heard pro LGBTQ) you get banned immediately This is just what I’ve heard from frequent users, if you want more info I’d check out r/fragrance
I’ve been obsessed with Blanche by Byredo for months, and looking for more affordable dupes. The only one that has convinced me is the one by the OilPerfumery (it smells perfect, but even though it’s oil perfume, it only lasts two hours on me). I NEED a perfume version and cannot find one that smells clean, with aldehydes top notes and a musky note. The only alternative that kind of convinces me biased on people’s reviews is the Dossier Musky Aldehydes, but I live in Spain so I cannot order it. Please, I don’t know what to do, the perfume has me on a chokehold 🙌 (Also, I have tried the Toy 2 by Moschino and I do not think they are similar)
i immediately went looking for the flirt! flirtatious perfume (my middle school perfume) and unfortunately no good matches 😩 here’s to hoping i’ll come across one someday
Theres this perfume i like that i got when i was visiting my family in Colombia, and I’m down to the last drops of it. i look everywhere online but the only evidence i have that this fragrance even is exists is that the bottle is sitting in my bathroom. Its not even on fragrantica :/
Have you heard of the Rasasi "Tawahuj" perfume?! It’s a Milky sweet Jasmine & Rose perfume and I’m really curious to see what you would think about it since it’s described as a milky/lactonic/sweet perfume which you’re known to like!!
There's only ONE discontinued fragrance I've never been able to find, even on Fragrantica :( Pink Sugarplum from BBW, circa 2012! I've been yearning for it for about a dozen years now, never once found a believable dupe. BBW released a few other "Sugarplum" reformulations but they were never the same..
Have you ever reviewed L’Artisan Parfumeur? I recently bought my favorite perfume from them in Paris this summer and I’m curious what your thoughts are on them? They’re very unique
New follower here! I absolutely love your videos. Have you ever smelled MOCO fragrances Matcha Milk body wash? I would loveeeeee a perfume that smells similar.
A perfume that lasts forever is usually pretty crappy. I bought a dupe for Kilians Angel’s Share. When I sprayed it there was a vague similarity, but it was crazy strong (while the original was very subtle). After 6 hours it smelled like I’d painted my house in the garbage
i loved deep vanilla by zara. it was a cozy winter woody vanilla it lasted surprisingly long on my skin but they discontinued it very quickly i still have a little left from the old bottle
I’ve been looking for alternatives to YSL Nu (from Tom Ford era YSL) which has been loooong discontinued. Fragrantica wasn’t a great help for that. I think I need to think laterally now and look for perfumes with a similar vibe instead of the same smell - warm, spicy, incensy - and see where I get with that. I tried a sample of Le Labo Vanille 44 recently and that had the sort of vibe I want - but waaaay too expensive, I need a dupe for that too 😅
Daringly Different by Diana Vreeland is my absolute favorite discontinued fragrance. It’s a leather perfume but it has great iris notes and I find that iris scents are so hard to find send Iris is so expensive
I'm using Fragrantica exactly like this, but to be honest, the perfumes that are suggested as "similar as" have mostly not matched. I tried to find a few dupes and went to the store and smelled the suggested ones and nope, most of them were nothing alike. Also one need to be lucky to find a perfume that has high votes on the similarity, because mostly the perfumes suggested have a very small amount of differences of likes and dislikes. If you are lucky you get one with a very good vote, but the following suggestions may have similar amounts of like and dislike or only a few people voted for similarity and this is not representative. Also searching for exact scent notes does not always brings success and some fragrances may have the same scent notes, but they still smell different. For me unfortunately it never worked to find a dupe for a scent I liked.
Ok pls help a girl out. MY ALL TIME FAV scent is purple haze by Victoria’s Secret. It was limited edition in 2019, I can’t find anything similar even thru fragrantica. Most heavenly smell ever
The older OG Forever Red perfume was my go-to and the new seasonal formula isn't as strong or complex. I've tried the dupes that were on frangrantica but they never captured the OG scent. I've been wanting that to so long now
I am really struggling to find a dupe for Guerlain Aqua Alegoria Coconut Fizz! I tried soooo many so-called dupes, but none - not even one comes close to how incredible the original was! I was devastated when I learned they discontinued it 😭!!!
My mom has this one perfume she'd like to find but its been discontinued more than 15 years ago. Its called Sun from Oriflame, and ive read about some potential dupes but it also doesnt help that its been so long since i last smelled it
It does this to me a lot as well. Drives me nuts. I find I have to make sure I don’t have many other tabs open if I’m going to open up Fragrantica, otherwise it’ll crash and then my phone will close all my tabs and I’ll lose everything 😒
Emma, I your videos girl! I’ve been looking for a fragrance that smells like chai or chai latte for years because I’m obsessed with the scent. However, I can’t find any fragrance that actually smells like chai 😢. I’m curious if you or anyone has any recommendations, or if I’ll just have to settle for the smell of my tea, lol.
I found Fragrantica when trying to find a dupe for my discontinued signature scent Ici. While the suggestions are similar, they just don't hit the same and Ebay is the only place to find it now 😢

I also found one on eBay for $79, but I'm on the hunt for a similar scent. the thing is the alternatives all seem to come from obscure brands that don't do samples, which is soo frustrating. just putting this out there in case anyone knows of a good dupe
this account is my new obsession

Thank you so much for this! I have been looking for a dupe or a replacement for Stella by Stella McCartney for ages!
Thanks so much for this video. It came right on time! I've been wanting a dupe for Slogan by Courréges.
Thanks for sharing 🙌🏽🤩
My favorite discontinued fragrance is “Maybe Baby “ by Benefit. The original one. Not the changed formula. I’m hoping that Frangrantica, Perfume Buy, Snif and some of the other sites you mentioned can help me find a dupe
Is there tea about fragrantica? Why don't you like how it's run?
that's what I'm thinking 😭
I’ve heard they’re super politically right-wing and anti vaxx. That’s what their tagline “free to choose” is about. They’re also based in russia and if you say anything pro-Ukraine or pro-Palestine (I’ve also heard pro LGBTQ) you get banned immediately
This is just what I’ve heard from frequent users, if you want more info I’d check out r/fragrance
From Reddit, the tea has to do with politics. 😐
I'm still sad about armani code being discontinued. I'll have to try again to find something like it on my skin.
Hi🤗 my favorite discontinued perfum is Essence by Narciso Rodriguez, and I couldn't find it. Do you know this fragance?
Dirty Soul Soap also does body products scented like discontinued product and even candles.
i immediately went looking for the flirt! flirtatious perfume (my middle school perfume) and unfortunately no good matches 😩 here’s to hoping i’ll come across one someday
La femme prada my beloved
There's only ONE discontinued fragrance I've never been able to find, even on Fragrantica :(
Pink Sugarplum from BBW, circa 2012!
Emma did you try Zielinski & Rozen Vanilla Blend? I wonder if it smells like vanilla extract. You were also trying to find a perfume like that.
A perfume that lasts forever is usually pretty crappy. I bought a dupe for Kilians Angel’s Share. When I sprayed it there was a vague similarity, but it was crazy strong (while the original was very subtle). After 6 hours it smelled like I’d painted my house in the garbage
Thaaank yoouuuu❤
I need to find dr.teal's epsom salt "calm your mind" in a fragrance! They don't even have it in the body soap or bath gel
The perfume that I miss the most is Guess, the original on a twisted triangular shape 😭😭😭
I will be searching for a longer lasting/projecting vanilla 28 🤞🏼
Yesssss🎉🎉 100k ❤
i loved deep vanilla by zara. it was a cozy winter woody vanilla it lasted surprisingly long on my skin but they discontinued it very quickly i still have a little left from the old bottle
All of us dying for 2002 body by Victoria perfume are still crying.
Same I haven’t found anything that remotely smells like it
Do you mind sharing why you don't recommend the articles in fragantica?
Thanks Emma, I'm on the hunt for Stella by Stella McCartney which was discontinued..I don't think theres any dup out there but ill keep trying
My mom has this one perfume she'd like to find but its been discontinued more than 15 years ago. Its called Sun from Oriflame, and ive read about some potential dupes but it also doesnt help that its been so long since i last smelled it
CONGRATS ON 100K!!! you manifested it!!! ❤🎉
I use that website all the time exp since I'm always blind buying perfumes at Ross and tj maxx 😂
Hiiiii Emma ❤
I will forever be absolutely heartbroken by Atelier Cologne for discontinuing Figuier Ardent 😢
Midnight Poison by CD 😊
I think it might be a me problem but Fragrantica keeps crashing my browser... Is there anyway around this?
Try a different browser? Turn your perfume off and on again?
While the suggestions are similar, they just don't hit the same and Ebay is the only place to find it now 😢
I can’t find the perfume on Fragrantica 😢 Would be Poka from Pernoire
