We had some of these same issues, but my husband was able to fix them. We did have to have the break switch changed out. The brake lights were staying on as we drove. We did not have the luxury of staying at the dealer for a night or two as we traveled from NC to Louisiana over a three day weekend to pick up our unit. The dealer insisted even though they had our deposit and our financing done, that we pick it up before the end of the month which was only a few days away so we had to do the pickup quickly. The sink in the back is a bit difficult to use, as it sits under the upper mirrored cabinet, and when brushing your teeth, it is challenging. The shower also drains into the black water tank in the back so that is a challenge to not fill up that tank. Also the bathroom space around the commode is not very big, so consider that when looking at this particular unit. I think I would prefer to have the one bathroom only and have a little more space in it. This unit does not have a washer dryer hookup space either, that we have found. I don't know where it would actually go because there is no space for a unit. The pipes under the bed were not glued, and when we put water into the holding tank, it leaked into the outside compartment and all of our Christmas gifts got wet. No biggie, more annoying than anything else. What worried my husband is that all the wiring that is also under the bed. I found the tank leak when I found water on my bedroom floor coming from under the bed. We understand that whenever you buy something new there are always little things to fix, but some of these things could result in major damage. Because we had known about some of the problems, my husband checked for them right away and fixed them. The wires hanging under the coach had to be tied up and the black water expel from the back bathroom had to be fixed by adding a swivel to the outlet, and a hole cut in the bin. that was never done. Our moon slide is going to have to have more screws put in it so it slides properly. We have not even attempted to use the TV's yet. Our pump in the back is vibrating against something and we will fix that. My floor has some staining and I am told that is from the installation and that having them change the floor could result in an even bigger disaster. So I just put some rugs down. We also had to put all new screws in the trim around the slides, as it was falling off, and we didn't want to loose a piece while on the road. We will fix things as we find them. I am still happy with my coach, as it is a comfortable ride and driver. It fits our budget at the moment. Since we are not on the road full time, or even in a retired state yet, we will just enjoy what we have, and fix things as needed. I don't see this as a big negative for the coach, as much as I do for the company. They really have an issue with either the cheap things they install, or they have an issue with the employees they hire not putting the effort into the pride of their work. Management also needs to think about who they have in key positions because if they can't control what their workers are doing, or just don't care, they will not be around very long. And I just heard that Thor has acquired another big name manufacturer in the RV industry. Hang in there Thor owners.

@@CatFoodDraino thank you for asking, our first local camping trip just to check it out and make sure everything's working was terrible. Our model has this macerator type pump installed in the wet Bay that nobody knew at the dealership what it was for we finally called Thor and they said it was to circulate the black tank water from the bottom to the top of the tank, still don't know what that's for but the worst part about it is where the pump is it's leaking and during our camping trip we had to smell black water leaking. And then we leave and try to clean up that mess up and hook up the hose to the black water flush and it won't take water the hose just expands. Also my wife notices this weird imperfection in the windshield.
So now we have our first real camping trip scheduled for later on this coming week and our RV is sitting at the dealer for the last 14 days telling us they're waiting on Thor to authorize them to fix it

@@kevinmcintosh9990 that’s a bummer. I hope you get it all worked out. When I bought my thor 2020 palazzo, we took it out every weekend and found every single squeak, squawk, leak, etc etc. we made sure we went out in heavy rains to find leaks. Glad we did.
I think whenever anyone buys a MH or camper, take it out as much as you can during warranty. If you can’t get in for service, just make the claim with Thor so it’s dated.

This is a problem with these manufacturers - they're in hurry to put out, and they end up doing shoddy work. Especially, if your rig cost ~200K or more. The government should put in a law about warranty work for RVs that you can get it serviced by any RV dealer. Thanks for being honest with all the issues you found - I would not have been a happy camper!

A majority of RV mechanic’s will tell you Thor rigs are not built to last. Road vibration and twisting of the frame cause many issues loosening staples, screws, bolts, plumbing and wire connections. They are under allot of pressure to work too fast. Screws in wood without glue stripped by screw guns etc. Not using stainless screws for outside trims and fixtures. I have seen it all. Many RV manufacturers have a hard time getting good employees because pay is poor. In most cases Welfare pays more to sit home. The higher quality higher cost manufacturers have waiting periods of up to two years before delivery. Good luck to all that make that tough decision to purchase an RV. Be prepared to understand that this endeavor will require tons of patience for all the maintenance required to enjoy your RV.

  • @retiredandfree96
    @retiredandfree96 2 года назад +2

There is no quality control in the production of RVs. They have found it's cheaper to just keep running them out the door and deal with the problems later. Their position is 1/3 of the problems get repaired at the dealership under warranty, 1/3 the owner repairs, and the other 1/3 never get fixed. Winning hand for them.

@@DidWe definitely requires the need to take short camp showers when dry camping. However the issue is the tankless water heater doesn’t like that. The trick is to run the bathroom sink all the way hot so the tankless water heater doesn’t keep going on and off and cycling cold water. Then you can just turn the shower on and off as needed for the camp shower. Sink goes to gray and shower goes to black. Seems to help.

You poor man. you have just begun the slow uncomfortable slog with the Thor + dealership fingerpointing. You are in for a long unhappy ordeal that will definitely make you a one and done Thor product customer. A RV lifestyle channel called Liz Amazing (sorry I can't leave her link here because RUclips deletes all comments with active links). 2 weeks ago Liz regaled us with a Thor / Thor dealership ongoing nightmare with Sharon & Jeff, Thor Tuscony luxury RV that featured an initially responsive dealership and Thor cooperation to being totally ignored and still not corrected manufacturing and initial Pre-Delivery Inspection lies.
My condolences for what you are about to discover about Thor and it's dealerships.

This is the state of the RV industry. My advice is if you can DON"T buy one. Wait because the quality right now is worse than anytime in history. If you do BUY USED only. Or don't buy at all and hopefully crashing sales will force these greedy companies to put a little more time and effort into these overpriced things. For as much money as you paid for this to have such basic issues like not screwing in plumbing pipes is unacceptable. That mess under your bed is unbelievable.

  • @bonn1098

Did you have an inspector to look over the RV before purchase? I’ve read this is something to do.

Such a beautiful rig and so expensive why can’t they do better. These problems come with any & all no matter the price rv’s and it just boils down to being in a rush to build a unit in 3 days. This is sickening that Americans can’t build something better. How much more will we eventually buy from China so that we can’t get a working product.

  • @SurvivaLust

You are a more patient person than me. I would say that your RV failed inspection big time. I was strongly considering buying a Thor but after hearing your experience and the jack leg way they repaired stuff and to top if it off you have to fund your own warranty. I would say big fail. I am a home builder and deal with plumbing. The entire plumbing system must be pressurized using AIR first. We check the pressure gauge after 24 hours for any loss of air pressure. This is SOP in the home building industry long before water ever enters the home. And that freezing issue you are having is not acceptable. 200k for this POS. No way.

Thor seems better at acquiring other RV manufacturers than building their own. This just confirms the bad reputation they have for their coarches.

Guess we know Thor builds junk, no quality control. I'm actually in the market for a new super C, it won't be a Thor. Unfortunately most manufacturers are just as crappy as Thor.

Pre 2008 RVs are the sweet spot for quality.. I own a 2006 Holiday Rambler admiral 33pbd.. 8.1 vortec with Allison transmission.. double over drive and double grade brake control..
These things are quality.. the Monaco line up of Safari Monaco Holiday Rambler country coach beaver pre 2008 are quality units..
Buddy owns a 2005 Winnebago adventurer with the same Drivetrain as mine... That thing is built with high quality as well...
Brands like tiffin and newmar pre 2020 seem to be built very well too if you wanted a newer used RV...
      Good luck

I think I’m just shocked especially to the unbelievable mess of wires that are under your bed in this unit. That would of been a deal breaker for me from the get go. That’s just poor workmanship straight in your face. The 2nd deal breaker which ok maybe you as a consumer would not know but surely on the walk through of your RV the tech most certainly did is any grey water going into the black tank. Seems very sketchy to me that wasn’t set up intentionally & it’s a deal breaker.
The fact is consumers are handing hundreds of thousands of dollars over for overpriced, overhyped pieces of poorly constructed RV’s & making the manufacturer’s rich & then youtuber’s show all the problems & they still purchase these overpriced poor construction pos & prices sore. So what’s the answer? Stop buying them. Stop blaming Covid or inflation cause the problem is the buyers not stepping back & demand quality for the money they are throwing away on this industry. If you don’t require better you get garbage.
Sorry for the rant but people really need to be buyer beware & just because a salesman says this or that without any fact check you are on the losing end. Ok rant really over.

Their coaches are junk, have a thor Omni SV34 and have had nothing but problems. The shower drain was busted from the factory and it was a bear to fix. The massive slide out is junk, and have had it in 4 times, and am taking back in again this week. The power shade above the cab, has now quit working, and we are on our 3rd frig, and cannot tell us why they keep going out. Will NEVER buy another Thor coach.
