You are definitely NOT alone in this! I call this post event syndrome. I can do perfectly under great stress, just nail it! And then I come home and overeat. It happened last year after ketocon and 2 weeks of being good on the road trip. I came home and was overeating. It didn't happen this time after the retreat but I have been following many of the extra things you mentioned like greeting the morning sky, journaling and so on. It's a journey and so happy to be following the road with you! 💗

All the solidarity, my carnivorous friend. I’ve only been in this for 8.5 months so my experience is limited compared with yours. But as a fellow working mom, homeschooling mom, and seeker of health, I feel this. I’m currently in a dairy free phase because I find it helps seasonal allergies and it is SLOWLY getting me out of a weight loss stall. KEEP GOING! You are an inspiration to so many.

You're not alone ladies! I would love for you to get to the bottom of this binge/volume eating thing we got going on Courtney. Maybe you can find the root cause? Is it stomach size, hormones, microbiome, bad habits (emotional eating) or all of the above???
I do find that I'm an all or nothing kind of person so it's easier for me to fast all day instead of OMAD. Definitely think that perimenopause is NOT helping 😂

I enjoy the solo talks. Keep that up. I am a 6.5 yr carnivore, but never 100% until 2024. I would keto-vore for years, and then abandon carnivore and keto for special events or date nights. Despite 75% or half-assing it, I still lost 30 lbs - because I was a sugar addict of the highest order. But then - Last year the husband bike racer had a devastating accident on his bike through a car windshield when the car stopped in front of him and I also tore my right medial meniscus. Plus I am a double thyroid cancer survivor. Whoa baby. Those events f’d up my cortisol for months. I gained 30 unreal pounds. Struggled and was in so much pain. January I decided that either I believe in carnivore or I don’t. Soooo. Finally gave up Diet Coke for real for real. Finally learned what leptin really does. Going to bed earlier, rising earlier, sun in the eyes, red glasses at night, and now realizing I also need to close this eating window early….because the husband is always grilling me a steak at 7 or 8 PM, but I need to finish eating sooner. I’ve done some deep dives with in Chaffee’s RUclips Univ, which made it way easier to never go back to keto-vore (pico de gallo, onions and guac and almonds and occasional keto wraps were my thing). Turns out, every carnivore who says stop all the other stuff, and it gets easier. That is true! So that’s what I’m doing. 15 lbs gone, more to go, and I realize it will just go when it goes. Apparently. LOL. I adore all your content, love seeing you on IG. Thanks for being in this space. You are a gem to me.

I was totally in your shoes before with emotional eating! I have a feeling that the reason why you weren't over eating at the retreat is because you were distracted with all the activities and the people. Where as when you are at home, your thoughts are much louder. I have found that when I distracted myself with things that I can focus on other than food, my emotional eating went away pretty quickly. Maybe try picking up hobbies that you can do at home like painting, reading, crocheting etc. When you switch your focus from always being on food and kids to now being on kids and hobbies, it's a lot easier to get rid of emotional eating.
When ever I feel the urge to eat emotionally, I will take a sip of water and just breath. If I still feel the urge, I go for a walk. Even if it's just 5-10 minutes. It will help distract you from your thoughts. And the best part is walking reduces your cortisol! Stressing about over eating is also raising your cortisol so I have a feeling that thats the main problem. Trust me when I say that it is raising your cortisol more than you might think.
Another thing that really helped me was asking myself "Am I really hungry?" every time I go to eat. I found that checking with yourself to see if you're full or hungry throughout the day helped me stay in tune with my body. Even during meals, halfway through I will check with myself to see if I want to eat more.
Like you mentioned in the video, journaling is great too!!! I want you to get a piece of paper and ask yourself, "Why do I emotionally eat?". It will take some time to answer the question but thats completely normal. Finding out the underlying cause as to why you do this will help you become more aware of your actions so the next time you go to eat even though you aren't hungry, you have an understanding as to why you do it and it's a lot easier to avoid.
I wish you the best of luck with healing your emotional eating, sending lots of love! ❤

I have the same struggle and also deal with anxiety and looping thoughts about food and eating. One program I have been following talks about not trying to ignore the thoughts/urges or distract from them but to stop fighting them.let them be there, ypu don't have to give into the urges or believe the thoughts. Notice them, talk to them and then just go about your day. What we resist persists. I'm trying to apply this to my urges to eat when not truly hungry . I'll say ok yep there's that urge to eat, cool. Then go back to what I was doing. Or have a conversation with the urges.

I'm hyper insulin and I've noticed that when I only did intermittent fasting while eating carbs I lost weight fast. I was only having insulin spikes 2x a day (2 meals a day) and all done by 5pm M-F with weekends off. No night eating. Most would not consider that a long fast but it was enough. Meat also gives an insulin spike and supposedly dairy gives a pretty big insulin spike too. There are studies that show eating early and stopping around 3pm really helps with insulin resistance and weight loss. I just can't stop at 3pm without feeling really hungry at night. Too short of an eating window stresses me out and I get dizzy.

    • @CourtneyLuna
      @CourtneyLuna  4 месяца назад

It would be hard for me to stop at 3 too. That’s still a lot of time to be awake and not eat 😂 IF is great for me, I think 12-6 is my ideal windows, even 2-6 some days. Thanks for the insight!

@@CourtneyLuna Something else to think about. The carb addiction doc Dr. Cywes said it can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 yrs to get hyperinsulemia down. Which would explain a lot of stalls after the initial drop in insulin but not quite low enough yet.

According to coach Kenny Weiss (not carnivore) we are all addicted to something because we are trying to suppress our intense emotions. We have all been emotionally traumatized as kids (even the most "perfect" parents still unknowingly traumatize their kids - it's because we're all human and perfectly imperfect). Our adult lives are shaped by the unconscious childhood trauma that replays itself over and over again - we choose our jobs, hobbies, partners, etc based on our childhood trauma. It's wild. I learned that I'm addicted to achieving "perfect" health (because my unconscious mind believes that once I'm "perfect" my parents will finally love & accept me), but there is no such thing as perfection in the 3D so everything I end up doing is never good enough! I'm always looking for the next best diet, the best toothpaste, the best organic clothes, etc etc etc. Kenny says that when people heal their trauma, their health issues often go away. What we all ultimately want is inherent self worth. So that's my journey right now (while doing carnivore) is to build up my self esteem by identifying my emotions each day, journaling, mirror work, affirmations, sharing with my partner, meditation, etc.

I’ve been strict too. Went carnivore and gained 30#s after losing 120lbs w keto. Didn’t track. I’m so strict and workout 4 days per week and get 10k to 13k steps a day. I can’t lose to save my life. Up 20lbs since last summer. I think I lost a lot of muscle so trying to build it back and then maybe reset. Tried altering calories too 1500, 1800, 2400. I can eat 2300-2400 and not gain so I do think the whole metabolism reset is a thing after “dieting” for 13 years. But it is frustrating for sure to try and find out what’s causing the stall.

As you already know the last 10-15 lbs are the hardest to get off regardless of what diet you are doing. I get your frustration as I am always a “slow loser” and have stalls all the time. I’m down 27 lbs but have been stalled for almost 6 weeks. I know you started working out - I would do some research on body recomping. This diet is so great for recomping due to the high protein. You will keep the muscle you build in the gym easier. Weight lifting is essential but can easily fall into the process of recomping - no weight loss but leaner looking. Maybe have more of a goal for this and less of the scale?
I do feel your frustration. I also have been in the boat of being more successful on “vacation “ - this is usually due to me being more happy with my day and less going through the motions of parenting and homeschooling. Hang in there!

    I’m listening
Your face and hair look GORGEOUS
And I don’t say that to anyone
I love your videos and helps me.
I’m at a stall also and I also had some lemon juice in my water and it made me sick but I wanted to try it as Sally Norton said to try it to help with oxalate dumping as I’m scared of the pain of that dumping later on.
    Are you doing heavy weights?
Have you tried just having a steak or lamb chops for breakfast but at like 10am ?
I am going to try the egg diet thanks to your video on it.
And then maybe like a semi version of Lion diet because I am frustrated at my weight stall. And I’m just 2 months in but I have an injury that I’m trying to heal with so it’s hard for me to workout right now.
And yes homeschooling kids is like being a single parent with all the hands on and stress
I am a single mother and now my kids are 18 and 20 but I was a single mom in NYC when they were 1 and 3. I was considering homeschooling them back then but I read that burnout is like around 2 years if you’re the only one doing it and I was worried my ex would take me to court over homeschooling so I didn’t do it.
I didn’t start losing weight back then until they were about 10 and 8 due to the stress.
I don’t know your life or schedule but maybe mix it up and go to the gym in the evenings and let dad do the dinner and night rituals.
It’s a lot to be cooking all the meals every day
Sending you love and you are doing GREAT. You are such a gift and pleasure
I am always happy after I hear one of your videos ❤️❤️❤️

High cortisol and stressing over weight loss prevents weight loss.

@@CourtneyLuna me too hun. It's the hardest part to get over. I just keep trying to tell myself "relax, get healthy and it will happen". I've learned it can't be forced. All the roads of forcing weight loss lead to stalls.

If you don’t already have one, I’d love a more detailed video or podcast about how you eat around your cycle. Have you noticed any differences doing this?

    Hi 👋🏾 I feel you.
Do you do any intense workouts like sprinting or are you progressive overloading with weight? Because that will increase your dopamine 🙌🏾
Forcing myself to do hard things (being uncomfortable) helps me
