I was advised to diversify my portfolio among several assets such as stocks and bonds since this can protect my inherited portfolio of about $2.5m. I’m used to just buying and holding assets which doesn’t seem applicable to the current rollercoaster market plus inflation is catching up with my portfolio. I’m really worried about survival after retirement.
True, I mostly just buy and hold stocks, but my portfolio has been mostly in the red for quite awhile now. Unfortunately to be able to make good gains, you’ll need to be consistent and restructure your portfolio frequently.
In my opinion, it was much easier investing back in the 60s but it’s a lot trickier now, those making consistent profit in these times are professionals reason I’ve been using an advisor for the past 5 years to consistently build my portfolio in preparations for retirement.
My partner’s been considering going the same route, could you share more info please on the advisor that guides you?

Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

It's been dumping and pumping in this range for ages! It's technically just going sideways, sideways means generally stagnant. My advice to new investors: Buy good companies stocks and hold them as long as they are good companies. Just do this and ignore the forecasts and market views which are at best entertaining but completely useless.
The key to big returns is not big moving stocks. It's managing risk in relationship to reward. Having the correct size on and turning your edge as many times as necessary to reach your goal. That holds true from long term investing to day trading.
I totally agree; I am 66 years old, recently retired, with approximately $1.2 million in external retirement funds. I am debt free and have very little money in retirement funds compared to the total value of my portfolio over the past three years. To be honest, I didn't do all this alone, but with the help of a financial advisor. Having one is currently the best way to trade in the stock market, especially for people nearing retirement.

i think you're off on your math on the interest income... $20M in treasuries would generate about $250k/qtr in interest income, or about $1m per year, not $250M per quarter as you said.
I'm not impressed that HNST was not net income positive again though.

Earning this quarter shows that number on a balance sheet does not matter at all if Wall Street want it to come down. If a company showing good growth doesnt even matter to Wall Steet anymore. This sucks
I am invested in WBD, they are putting their free cash flow toward the debt. Once the debt is payed off where does that freecash flow go? WBD is also coming out with 7 season Harry Potter series with J. K. Rowling as producer. They also have the biggest movie and shows library by far. Anything in the 7.50 range I buy. Jeremy love your channel but WBD is a way better investment than FUBO. FUBO is garbage.
