    when i was a kid , i had a layout on a piano hinge and it could be tilted against the wall so that we could use the garage for its intended porpose . eggscllent job.

    Nice lay-out! American Flyer S gauge is my favorite. A prejudiced opinion as this is what I grew up with, and still have! ☺I like seeing the Plasticville train station; a lot of us still; have it! Also have the white church, red barn, and pink ranch house. The rest of ours are gone, somewhere.....

    I am close to building my first flyer layout. I don’t want anything fancy, just wanna run trains and display my accessories. Yours has just given me a lot of inspiration. I love the idea of the inside track. And the rotating idea. That’s genius. Thank you for sharing

      I'm glad you enjoyed the layout Chris built. Gary's 4' x 8' layout also pivots in the center and is on casters.

    What a wonderful layout with beautiful scenery! He did an excellent job! Perhaps you can return and record more of the trains running from the view of the town so that part of the layout can be seen. Thank you for sharing.

      I have a old ping pong table that I have been saving for train table, but it does fold in the middle and would make the build complicated. the table rotating is a much better idea. Thanks for sharing

    This layout kinda has the look of a factory made layout for a department store.

    • @willamettevalleyAFtrains
      @willamettevalleyAFtrains  2 года назад +1

      I agree. The materials and colors used to create the scenery and road bed are the same as 1950's layouts.

    • @emilsuda4101
      @emilsuda4101 2 года назад +1

      @@willamettevalleyAFtrains Well those factory layouts were fairly basic. It was for the customer to watch the train and accessories the main selling point. From that it created the idea of what you could do on your layout.

    That is one well-organized garage and the added window with the slider in the garage door is a great idea. The layout itself is very nice indeed, looks like gargraves track to me. I have to say I always loved the rubber roadbed and how it influenced the noise and how it looked. The layout appears to be foldable but I can't tell for sure. Really nice job with the whole thing, excellent video. Great layout! Best wishes!

      It does fold and store against the wall. He did a great job on the ties. I agree, the track looks like Gargraves

    I'm liking S gauge but it's so hard to find good options for track and such. I'm a beginner and getting a bit discouraged by the price of decent track and then I see all the HO stuff out there because it's the most popular but I have a lot of 1/64 scale stuff to go with a lay out with out spending a nickel on that stuff for S gauge.

    • @willamettevalleyAFtrains
      @willamettevalleyAFtrains  10 месяцев назад

      It sounds like you have an idea of what you'ld like in a layout. I find original American Flyer track on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist frequently. There seems to be a lot of it available.
      The other track with plastic roadbed is expensive.
      Thank you for watching and your comments.

      @@willamettevalleyAFtrains TY, never did a lay out before but going to do with the grandson. He will be 6 soon. I'm new to it. Just trying to figure some stuff out before buying. Took me 3 days to figure out out that that S matched 1/64 diecast. HO is pretty close though and would probably be fine. I also just learned of the DCC stuff and that certainly could be more fun. took me a minute to wrap my brain around it but I'm stage technician. We addredd digital lighting all of the time and the audio mixing consoles are all digital now for live shows anyway unless some one really just loves analog which I do but the gear is 4 times the size and weight so not worth it any more. the labor bill alone forces you to digital. the prices have finally come down to where about any one could get into if they wanted to. Any way I won't have any issues with dcc. If I build the lay out with him which I will we have plenty of 1/64 scale stuff here already. I might just go HO because their so much and it's a bit lower priced. I'm learning. Appreciate the answers and people who take the time to share knowledge. Thank You

    Is this table easy to flip on your own?

    • @willamettevalleyAFtrains
      @willamettevalleyAFtrains  Год назад

      Yes, but you have to take all the trains and buildings off. The track stays on the table top.

      thanks . i live in a small apartment and it is set up in case i have to move . 7 years ago we had a renovation, we need another one . so i had to take the layout down. nothing is pernamantly secured so i can shove everything into a box and go. the legs unscreww and a few otther features do too. have a grand day.
