Really enjoyed the comic, but had the same wonders about the final page. I'm willing to see what happens. Alfred was awesome. Bats is cool. I like the different take on the story. The change in tone reminded me of Tim Sale's take on the character -- more down at heel and sliding through the underworld of the city. This feels like a Batman fit for 2024, in all its chaos. Can't wait to see Aaron's Superman and Thompson's Wonder Woman. And the New Gods book sounds amazing. So much good stuff coming down the pipe from some of the best writers out there.
Will be interesting to see how Aaron's Superman and Thompson's Wonder Woman play out, will say that the first issue of batman, does raise our hopes for those so hopefully All in will get off to a good start.
I enjoyed it. Not blown away but definitely a good read. This is looking like a good comic week. Batman, Transformers, Geiger. Haven’t read Action yet, and I’m jumping on Batman and Robin now that Jeremy Adams is taking over. Hoping that’ll be good too!
Happy to hear you enjoyed the book. Certainly was a strong week of comics, Geiger continues to exceed expectations and stuff like Batman and Robin and Action Comics were certainly solid reads this week overall.
IMO, they should have waited to bring in Joker. They should focus on building the story and let Batman fight low level criminals and then bring in his rogues gallery.
100% agree, rushing the joker into issue #1 seems a bit fast, would have preferred a slow build to the character. I know the page he was on probably was supposed to serve more as a "post credit" scene kinda thing but not sure it was the best move
It certainly has some interesting twists to the story, hopefully it continues to throw unexpected twists at us while still feeling like a Bruce Wayne batman story
I wont lie, I had zero interest in this book. I was in my local shop and saw it on the wall and thought "why not?" I really, really enjoyed. Enjoyed it so much I call my local shop and asked them to add it to the pull list .
That's awesome to hear. Always great to see folks enjoying a new book, hopefully snyder keeps it up. Both of us on the channel were expecting the worst and were really surprised as well.
Would not be surprised at all by that especially given that alfred cited her as Bruce's main weakness in her only real appearance in the book. Will be interesting to see how it plays out from that angle.
I read Absolute Batman and it's just Synder N52 Batman run all over again with more edge only. I bet that Snyder biggest dream is create the most dark and cringiest Batman version since Miller's TDKR. This Batman maims and stab people and yet don' kills but I believe that Prime earth Batman would find your methods too brutal even for him.Maybe this comic was realised 10 years ago I could to enjoy but I'm so tired of dark versions of my favorite characters that I know that Absolute Batman isn't for me.
Thanks for sharing your perspective. While we enjoyed the book, do have to agree that the maiming of villains was a bit much, hopefully that will not be a regular occurrence. certainly can see where it would not be a book that some folks would enjoy
Can certainly understand the criticism of the book, there are certainly a lot of changes, I do think in the book there is enough of Bruce Wayne as a character that remains in common with his original counterpart that he is still recognizable, however that is certainly a matter of perspective and would not blame anyone who feels it is too far off for their own personal tastes
I Liked The issue but it was definitely not with the hype. Unlike Ultimate marvel (2000s and Hickman's 2024 relaunch), this bruce is almost nothing like the original bruce. He's as foreign to the original as Gotham by gaslight or any other elseworlds tale from the 90s. when it comes to aesthetics, I hated how "hulkish" he looks and the black mask balloon head design was of putting to me. I really hoped for a year one type batman without the robins and batgirls... Just a back to basics approach in a "year one" setting. But that's not the case here, and not to sound overly negative, I did like the issue and it's way more entertaining than Zdarsky's busy mess of a run which I dropped during joker year one. PKJ on batman and robin was solid and tom Taylor is on detective so hopefully their run will be good "classic" batman.

I Feel like Martha is Alive so Some Villian will Kill Her later on ...

Is this really Batman?

PKJ's first issue of Batman and Robin was really solid, hopefully he can continue on that book for a while.
