    As a white belt with useless takedown skills and a bad knee (partial tears pcl acl) i was limited to pulling guard. Took this is to my next training and it worked every time (against my fellow white belts) which was awesome. Boom! Straight into side control. Thankyou chewy!

      One thing to be careful about it, you will have to adapt the entry to no-gi, there are other ways to set it up, like from overhook or neck hold. Pure shoulder "hold" is slippy.
      Other than that it is pretty standard push-pull and obviously good, a wrestler or high level practicioner will stop it though.

      Instead of bjj u should also learn silat it has some good ground techniques that u can use on the ground

    • @Bubble23428
      @Bubble23428 5 лет назад

      So bjj+silat is the best for the streets bjj for takedowns and silat for destroying ur opponent

    • @Bubble23428

      But silat is for both ground and standing

    As a former wrestler I'm jealous of your being able to grab the gi to help in takedowns. One thing that might help physically weaker people is to push into your opponent and when they push back redirect their force to snap them down.

      I weighed 210 and wrestled in the 215 and 275lbs weight class, i was more nimble than most heavyweights but average or maybe slightly below in the 215 class. High levels of nimbleness and agility aren't required, anticipation and muscle memory matter more.

    I tried this in a Comp last weekend. The takedown worked, it was surprisingly easy to put on and take control. I didn't win the fight though as the guy got me in a good arm triangle. But that didn't matter, because after this I feel so much more confident with takedowns. Thanks Chewy! Brrrrrrrgh

    Tried this while rolling last week and loved it. I ended up doing more like a single leg TD than a knee pick but it was still awesome. I wanna open with this instead of trying to pull guard like every other white belt.

    Here’s my best tip for those of you looking to learn take down and what I did. Just get in touch with some wrestlers from your local high school or maybe even guys who you know wrestled in high school and have them teach you a little bit. I walked into my high schools wrestling practice one day and talked to the coach and he happily let me train with them. Literally took my game to a new level. Now granted I was in high school and I’m sure a lot of you aren’t so you can’t do that. But if the options available I would take it.

My name is Don-Trell Brown I've just competed in my 1st ever Bjj Tournament (Tap Cancer Out) in Connecticut Saturday 3/31/2018 just after 2weeks of training and 3 days of watching your videos mainly this one in which I watched maybe 18 times I did this move in 2 of my 3 matches I had and it worked Chew-Tastic. lol
    I started Bjj 2 weeks ago because of my daughter who is 6 (SpideyGirl A.k.a Bella) who has been training for 3 plus months who said she wanted me to compete in the tournament to see how I'll do so I did and I won all 3 of my matches and took the Gold in my Bracket. I competed in the (Super Heavyweight division)
    But yea enough of my Life story (blah blah blah) I just wanted to say thank you sir for the tips.

      I think this can be easily adapted to No-Gi by hooking the neck instead of grabbing collar, and locking your hand around their elbow, then down to wrist instead of grabbing the Gi sleeve. From there, should be the same movements.
