@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG The music was also a good choice - should have mentioned that too. I live in a cold & snowy climate and you caught the atmosphere superbly. Thank you for your work.
I have a niece that moved to Atlanta several years ago to get away from our brutal Montana winters. Had to laugh when she texted me a picture yesterday outside her house. She had more snow there than we have in northeastern Montana!
When you're not used to cold temperatures or snow, it can be stressful. Do you have any pipes that are working? If so, get them wrapped as tight as you can with towels for insulation and let the faucets drip. To save that water, i put pitchers in the sink and shower, collect water into a five gallon bucket and use it to cook with, make coffee, water animals. I was raised in upper midwest but now in WV. This has really thrown the state for a loop. Lots and lots of snow and now bitter temps. Many kids haven't been able to go back to school even. I can't even clear off my drive, it's too much at my age. Kitty litter is much better to use for traction on ice. Let the plows do their job. Knock off ice cycles as they grow or the weight might rip off the gutter. Keep house temp at 65 then utilize heating blankets or safe heaters to warm up the area you're in. It saves money. No heating blanket? Put in hot dryer and pile on the blankets. Keep feet warm with three pairs. Be wary of frostbite. Get vehicles gassed up before the snow arrives. If you have farm animals, watch them carefully. Any newborns and smaller ones might appreciate coming indoors. Just keep hoping winds don't pick up adding to the cold temps. Robert, you're such a kind generous man to be out getting firewood for others. Enjoy the beautiful snow. But do not catch a cold!!!
I have lived in Northwest Indiana for 60 plus years. Temps in the 20's is COLD. And, people here can't drive in the snow any better than the south. 😊 I do hope all your animals and plants survive! ❤
I love how everything gets real quiet when it snows ... and what a wonderful thing you are doing for your community by sharing firewood from the Old Byrd Farm. Well done !!!
It is so important to look after our neighbors in this cold weather. You have the wood on the farm. You are so caring to cut it up for others. Keep warm Robert. Spring will be here soon.
Robert, you really are a lovely man, looking after your friends and neighbours cutting firewood. I’m feeling your cold, sitting in my air conditioning in Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺 The snow looks lovely from here! ❤😊
Robert you're my hero! You make my heart sing. I may be a Texan but my ancestors came from Georgia. Your values and caring for others shows a beautiful soul.❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love it! I hope you were able to snuggle in some and enjoy some of the cold weather in that beautiful old farmhouse. I really loved the cold weather at my grandparents in Waverly Hall, the smell of the heater, and her beds, quilts, even her sheets just seemed cozier. Her oil lamps and their smell are part of a lot of precious childhood memories.
Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful. Since we've no place to go,let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Chunk up the limb and load it in the bucket. Take it up, dump it in the pickup box! 16⁰ overnight is cold around here too!
Your right about people not knowing how to drive when it snows in Georiga. I grew up in Ohio and indiana , but lived in Georgia in the 90s. Vegas is just as bad. And it's even worse here in Ariazona desert when it snows. Everyone goes crazy.
@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG that's how. People here in Arizona drive. We thought for sure it was going to snow. Only been in 39s and 40s here in the middle of desert. I miss living in S as Vanna. We lucked out ft hec10 years I lived there, no hurricanes and no snow. But snow all around.
Great stuff, firewood, and Kubota time, Robert. So beautiful, the farm and you aren't bad either. Enjoyed seeing the snow falling and hear the crunching leaves. Wishing you sleep, sound sleep. Wonderful video!! ❣️👍❣️👍❣️ Yes, the farm in the snow, quiet splendor. ❤
Thursday morning hugs to ya, its 23 here in Arkansas where I live. When we got our snow a couple of wks ago we got 11 inches. Ty hon for taking care of your community and friends in need.
That's a picture postcard to remember,Robert. We only got some flurries here{that's just light, very light snow} roads are mostly clear. The temperatures are still very cold. Doing alright though. I hope coping isn't too hard. Get some rest, stay warm and prayers for everyone!
I live in a colder climate, but I won't give you any grief because I have been complaining myself about how cold it is here in Northern Minnesota😊. I hope it warms up soon for you so you can get your work done at least half ways comfortable.
Robert. Take a Tylenol PM. It relaxes you and you sleep through the night and wake up at a decent hour and feel great. I take it around 11 and wake up at 7
You are a kind person to help someone with firewood. Thank you. Cord of wood is 4 feet tall, 4 feet wide, 8 feet long. We got 5 inches of snow in coastal NC with temps in the low 20's. Not use to temps that low.
I really respect the way you cut the firewood up, the smaller sizes will make it so much easier for folks who may not be as young and physically capable as you. Great Job! We got 2 1/2 inches of snow here in east GA, and it's cold!
I live in Iowa and you all are getting more then we have right now, but we are getting a cold of -20 to -40 below but warm back up to 45 above. we have crews going south with plow trucks. but the snow you are getting is a dusting to us. 😊lol. LOVE your channels.
Hello and can’t believe you are working out there as when it’s that cold out there you need to hide out and stay warm please be safe and don’t get frost bit or get sick all the best ! Enjoy the snow ❄️ as I have had enough this year 😊😊😊 thank you for helping others take care 😊😊😊
You are so kind for helping those in need. 😇 I know that some farther south had issues with pipes freezing; that was really upsetting to hear. The pictures are beautiful, though - I love seeing the farmhouse in the snow. I hope that whatever is troubling your sleep resolves soon. I highly recommend lavender salve.... 😉
We’re in southern Georgia, close to Florida, and have about 6 inches of snow. Adults and children alike are gleefully playing in it. But Robert is right - nobody has snow-clearing road equipment or snow tires here. It even snowed at the beaches!
Between Aynor and Conway SC..got between 6 to 8 inches Tuesday night and early Wed morning.. really usual for us see that...them little heaters u using are awesome 😎.. nice scenery.. I use to live in Waycross few yrs back... thanks for sharing 😊
Great video. I like the slow motion you put in it now and then. Even in the snowy places, at least in the first snow, people don't know how to drive either. The snow sure looks pretty though, when it first comes down. Take care. Keep warm!
Robert, to fall asleep, try thinking of the things you finished or accomplished that day. Do not dwell on lists of what remains to get done, that just builds stress, keeps you awake.
-27 here Robert in the Great Lakes region. No one likes the cold, machinery doesn't work well, and neither does the body if not dressed properly. Thanks for the video Robert!🥶

Hi Robert! Yes, it was a very interesting couple of days here in Southern Alabama. We live in the country and we had a winter wonderland! Up to 6 inches. It lasted a couple of days. We lived in Chicago for over 16 years back in the '90s. That was a whole different story. I lived in snow boots for months. I don't miss it at ALL!! 🥶
My cousin lives in Brooks and got plenty of snow for her grand babies to play in. You are 50 miles south so you got at least 1 more inch than she did on the Old Byrd Farm.
When I couldn't sleep, my Mom would bring up an old saying that my Grandmother used to tell her; " If you can't sleep at night, that means you didn't WORK hard enough or PLAY hard enough during the day." ( I always liked the; "You didn't play hard enough" part).☺
Our low for Thursday, 23 January here in Salisbury Maryland was 8° last night. My propane was down to a trickle so I couldn’t cook on my propane stove, but I have back up a wood-burning stove and a plug-in electric countertop burner.
Thought about you down there in the cold today Robert, even had my ALEXIA tell me the current temp in Columbus! Great video, loved what I call Old Byrd Farm music, realized I had missed hearing it! P.S. Remember to put your seat up, it cover some of the dash on the Kabota! Cheers! K.
Hello Robert, I thought I'd let you know the size of a full cord of wood is. It is 4 feet wide, 4 feet high and 8 feet long. I don't think it matter much in what you are doing. I think that what you are doing helps people and that is a blessing. I have lived in places where firewood was my only source of heat so I know how important firewood is. Take Care
Hey good to see you on the OBF. I’m up the road from and Coweta got a good amount of snow. My pups first snow and he was sure about it at first. So I miss seeing Blue and Annie. Hope that they are doing well. Keep up the work at your other channel too and stay warm!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying the channels! Blue and Annie are great. They’re opposites tho. Blue hates cold and being wet. Annie doesn’t care about the cold and loves being wet lol
It is really beautiful to see the snow on your farm. I've never seen snow. I live in Queensland, Australia. We're having a heatwave at the moment. Thanks for another great video.
Those attachable propane tank space heaters are most handy. I bought one years ago during a nasty PA winter when I lost power to the house for over a week. I keep it handy as a back-up heat source just in case. 👍 Enjoy your vids, sir 🥃
It's more than just just the engine that needs to warm up. The hydraulic fluid also needs to warm up. You can damage the hydrostatic transmission. I live in the PNW, and I let my tractor warm up at least 10 minutes before I do anything with it.
Yes!! You’re right! I was saying that to someone today, that I didn’t mind the roads too much because I was well versed in driving in really, really slick stuff. They tend to slide the same way on ice as slick clay, and stopping is the same as clay. Correcting the slide is the same.
watching this Wednesday night, where it is also 20 above and snow showers, Tomorrow here in Upper Northeast illinois it is to be a high of 15 and the low of -3. Have a friend in Pensacola Florida that caloled me earlier this afternoon and states he got 7 inches of snow in florida! Sorry you are having toruble sleeping l;ately Robert. for such a young man you have a lot on your mind. Yes I agree Robert having another battery would be a good idea, the sooner the better. I amde sure to uy erxtra battiers for all of the Milwaukee Tools that I have bought for my husband and I over the years, and have two extra chargers as well.
Nice tractor 🚜, jeep and chainsaw. Funny how hobby farming turns into daylight to dark Cherry 🍒 firewood smells so good you sit outside in cold just to smell. Maybe you need goats 🐐 and calves to help clean woods. But then u work on fence for eternity. Hehe Keep it up.😮😊
For all you southerners who don't know how to drive in the snow. The trick is to slow down at everything. Slow acceleration, extend deceleration time. Don't slam on the breaks, do let off the gas. Slow straight down the road. slow in turning. Slow.
If you slide into the ditch do not stop and keep the momentum going to hopefully drive you back up. That's when Jesus takes the wheel! Once back up, drive so much slower, black ice is even worse! Take care everyone.
Yeah, the electric one has been great, until it got cold. I’ll definitely keep my gas chainsaw too though. It’s just hard to get a good one these days. Everyone I have had has had some issue. I’d say the electric hasn’t but the cold got it

@@georgedavidson7986 dang, I did not consider if that tractor actually had glow plugs or not. I figured it did not.
All diesel tractors have glow plugs. You just have to turn the key part way and hold. There should be a light on the dash somewhere
That tree and bark looked very similar to what we have here at my place in Louisiana that's a wild cherry tree
Yeah! I think it was a wild black cherry.
Yes those electric saws are great I have its good for pruning too i find

And yes the cold zaps batteries. We in the north know that thru experience. Car batteries as well!
Here in Ontario 🇨🇦 it was -30 to -35 C Tuesday thru Wed and is still -21.
I have a couple of those exact same propane heaters. You may get a headache from the propane. Lol.

Ahh I love the cold more the the heat , I hate summer.
💞
There are small corded chainsaws, and if you have a small generator, that might be an option.
❤ the temp dropped to -26 on Tuesday morning, here in Amery, WI
That is some serious cold!
Hehe Keep it up.😮😊
4×4×8 = cord. Electric saw is safer u can hear tree pop or Crack w gas u never can hear.
Hallo Robert. How are doggies
They’re good! Annie loved the snow. Blue doesn’t like the cold or wet.
How is other Cat?
I dont sleep very well either half the night watching you tube and then my cat likes to lay near me shes almost 12 .
It's -8° here in Ohio
If you do need to use a propane heater indoors, have at least two carbon monoxide detectors. @2:25

Makes you want a electric car don't it😂
I’ll keep my gas chainsaw. It’s a good thing you’re doing. Stay warm but enjoy the snow. 🙏🏼🇺🇸✌🏼😎🪵🪓🛷☕️
Yeah, the electric one has been great, until it got cold. I’ll definitely keep my gas chainsaw too though. It’s just hard to get a good one these days. Everyone I have had has had some issue. I’d say the electric hasn’t but the cold got it
I have both - a gas chainsaw and an Ego battery one. Always have problems with the gas one so use the battery one a lot more. Love it.
