Did you notice that when talking about the dogs (which I Love!) and walking to where the tree was behind you, that the moon was clearly visible behind your right shoulder! Beautiful edition to the background!
From B.C. We went to the second hand store and bought a used crockpot. In really cold snaps we use it as a chicken waterer on the lowest setting. No freezing and they love the warmer water.
I remembered something like that... It's been Negative Temps here, so I still start out with hot water for my chickens, BUT, the distance from my back door to my chicken coop is a good bit, and by the time i get there & pour it into their waterers, it's barely warm. lol.
I think I understand why Rocky jumps on you - he remembers how you saved his life from the parvo, and he’s so grateful he just can’t contain himself!! You’re his beloved mama!!
Hint from a Brit. Wear rubber washing up gloves under your warm gloves on bitterly cold days. That way when doing waterer, etc, if your gloves accidentally get wet, your hands stay dry. Also, I think your hoses are mostly underground, but on days when it is below freezing here, we put manure on any over ground hoses..toastie 😁
Back in the day, the old folks (some where between 20 and 200, I was young) used to pile barn cleanings around pipes sticking up out of the ground; even frost free types. It made for a predictable spring clean up but for the most part neither pipes nor thier underground connections froze up.
It's great to see how you and Jason have fixed the feeding and care of all your animals down to a science! I also wanted to point out the cost! Many don't think about that. Living on a farm as a young girl, I know how expensive it is. I commend you both on your dedication and love you give to them all! You all rock the farm life❤
Thanks for taking us along on your morning routine. It's so fun to watch the dogs playing on the "hound mound!" You and Jason do such a great job! You put a big smile on my face!
Agreed.. Back when I had farm animals... I would love the routine. Now I get to live vicariously through Brooke & Jason. Love counting the eggs too. : ) 🥚 🥚
Goats will love a dirt mound too. We had one and our goats played "King of the Mountain" on there for years. Was hilarious to watch them. We cleaned a spring/stream out running through our pasture and hubby was going to spread the dirt on our garden but then we saw the goats playing on it and we just left it alone. Cheap entertainment for them and dogs. Your dogs love it b/c they can see the farm from there. That's what they do.
Hi Brooke, I think the milk room is the perfect place for your barn and all the things you do in it. I don't drink when I eat. No after my surgery on my stomach the Doctor told me it is better not to drink when you eat. I am staying in out of the cold I am so thankful you folks take such great care of your animals. God bless y'all.
Yes, in particular LIvestock Guardian Dogs like to have a raised perch to get a better view of things. Extra work when it freezes, for sure! Thanks so much for this lovely visit with the animals and yourself. All best wishes. ❣
I think yall coverings the windows and door on the chicken coop has made it warm enough that they are laying more too. I'm like you Brooke I don't usually drink anything till I finish eating probably not as good for you.
Good morning Brooke yes I think you ought to give the dogs a big pile of dirt to play on they would love it and also make a goat playground because they would love it y'all stay warm y'all are doing a great job keeping your animals warm and making sure their waters are good catch you on the next one y'all be good❤❤
Good morning Brooke 🙋, I'm thinking that you all must be in a pocket because I remembered that during the drought you all never got rain when it was forecasted but places all around you did get rain. Now the same thing with the snow forecast in your area but you got none but areas around you got plenty🤷❄️❄️🌴
That would make sense especially since their soil is extremely dry and hard deep in the ground so over time it was as affected by no moisture…I may be wrong but it sounds right to me😂
Yes de-thaw and un-thaw are some of the funny things I hear on the internet always makes me giggle as well 🥶We know what they mean but still kinda funny hahaha 🙏🩷Thaw or thaw-out 😊
1 cup of salt in a 20 0z bottle with the rest filled up with hot water.. put the cap on put it in the waterers ..you wont have freezing problems with whatever you have water in
I hope there will be new CHF tee-shirts. One with ALL the cows. One with the donkeys and Pocket, one with Nugget & Goldie, one with ALL the kitties, one with ALL the dogs, etc.... I would be so happy! Hope you continue to thaw out & stay warm!!
I love the way you take care of your animals. The love and care you give them shows in the way they love you back. Peaches may think she's a horse now. LOL She has always been one of my favorites. I remember how she wandered little Cog Hill. She really is "Some Pig".
Brooke…Jason needs to spray wd40 on the sliding doors to the barn or Pam’s cooking spray and that way they one sliding doors to won’t freeze anymore…just a helpful hint…stay warm from Northern Indiana and you can do the same on your garage doors with the rubber on the bottom of the doors also so it won’t freeze and tear the rubber 😊
I’m like you Brooke. I’m 71 and always try to do things myself. I’ve put up ceiling fans, tiled my kitchen backsplash and installed a ring doorbell to name a few. Too old to change now 😂😂💕💕
Brooke you eat right, you wash your enzymes from your mouth if you drink while eating. Our mouth is the first stage of digestion. So you and the cows are right.
Love that you are so mindful of sanitary conditions for your animals. You won’t use your foot to break up the ice in the troughs and you don’t let the goats trample through poop. I’m sure it helps keep your pets healthy. You are the best.
A really fun video. I never get tired of seeing daily animal care. They all have such wonderful personalities. Cold for you guys for sure. Blessings. ❤❤❤❤❤
Lol. Yep, it's still cold as heck. I fed my hens cooked corn mixed with grits. They loved their hot breakfast. I've been putting tubs of hot water in hopes of all of them being able to get a drink. I also give them a hot dinner too to ensure they can stay warm enough with no coop heat. Stay warm as you can.
Peaches eating hay because Pocket does is so endearing. How sweet is it that Peaches finally has a best friend?!
The hay is of highest quality as well. Boss lady knows her stuff.😀
I just love the bond that has formed between Peaches and Pocket. ❤
The dogs can see more of the farm from the top of that dirt.❤
Lol. Lol
Look at baby Matilda her little horns are coming in. She’s so cute
I have had cats for decades and have noticed, if the food bowl is not to their standards then they think it is empty 😂
I experience the same with my cats!
Yes my brothers cat same way always have to throw in a few crunchies or she thinks it’s empty and it’s not, silly kitties😹
@@nikkicheshier1791No, it's Finicky Kitties 😅
Did you notice that when talking about the dogs (which I Love!) and walking to where the tree was behind you, that the moon was clearly visible behind your right shoulder! Beautiful edition to the background!
That’s very true 😂
The dogs are up high on the mound so they can see their entire domain. Better to protect their home. 😊
From B.C. We went to the second hand store and bought a used crockpot. In really cold snaps we use it as a chicken waterer on the lowest setting. No freezing and they love the warmer water.
That is a creative use for an old slow cooker.
Great idea!
Cool
Great idea..
That is a good idea, never thought that.
Rocky, Bandit and Foxy playing king of the mountain 😊
I believe the hens are loving there breeze free coop❤😊❤😊 giving you more eggs daily since you blocked the wind going to the coop😊😊
We learned in science class that hot water freezes faster than cold. Something about the molecules being separated already? Who else remembers?
I remembered something like that... It's been Negative Temps here, so I still start out with hot water for my chickens, BUT, the distance from my back door to my chicken coop is a good bit, and by the time i get there & pour it into their waterers, it's barely warm. lol.
I do 😊
I do, I fill ice trays with hot water
I was going to say the same thing.😁😁
I use warm water for my ice cube trays.
I think I understand why Rocky jumps on you - he remembers how you saved his life from the parvo, and he’s so grateful he just can’t contain himself!! You’re his beloved mama!!
How do you do it? It is sooo cold! Take care and keep warm!❤
That’s what I thought about Ricky. Not easy for Brooke to remain upright sometimes. But watching him do that can be touching.
You are Rocky's saviour, he has a special love and closeness for you. ❤🤗
So does Bandit. She saved him too. They both love their mama 🥰
the jumping on people is dangerous, both my moms knee caps are held together wit wire and pins thanks to a dog that didn't know simple rules.

I use to wear disposable gloves under my winter gloves when I worked in a frozen food plant. It really helped keeping my hands dry and warm.
Great job heating up the water for the animals. You can tell they enjoy it. Stay warm.
@@terryhenderson424never heard about the cow poop keeping the water pips from freezing. Take care. ❤
@carolmiland9665 barn cleanings to include the bedding et al. They stayed pretty dry during the cold.
I love seeing the relationship between Peaches and Pocket. So sweet. Bramble really is a beautiful cat.

We have a Doggie Daycare that always piles up dirt for the dogs and they love it!!
Thank you, Brooke 🥰
I would love to watch your goats play on a playground! Bridges, see-saws, ramps! The goats would love it!
Thanks for taking us along on your morning routine. It's so fun to watch the dogs playing on the "hound mound!" You and Jason do such a great job! You put a big smile on my face!
I enjoy hearing everything about feeding and taking care of the animals---neve gets old!!!

Yes! Build the goats and dogs their play hills 😁🥰. We will enjoy watching them ❤. Stay warm!!❤
Matilda's lil nubs.... aka horns are sooo precious!! 🐮🐄🐮🐄🐮🐄
Science says warm water freezes faster than cold. My father, born on an Iowa farm in 1906, taught me the same.
True! It’s called the ‘Mpemba effect’!
Does cold water boil faster than hot?
Yup, hot water freezes faster than cold water.
@@Oldmadbattleaxe🤔
The dog babies love the mound of dirt!
BEST CHANNEL AROUND.❤🙏🙌👍🤗🙋🙏❤️
Thank you both for taking such great care of your wonderful animals.
My sweet mother never drank during her meals. She always had good old southern sweet tea to drink once she was finished eating. Oh, how I miss her. ♥️

How did everyone in the Pigeon Palace make out? Even if they're just doing bird things I like seeing them.
I think yall coverings the windows and door on the chicken coop has made it warm enough that they are laying more too. I'm like you Brooke I don't usually drink anything till I finish eating probably not as good for you.
I had an aunt that wouldn't put any drinks out until us kids finished eating. She said we would fill up on drinks and not eat
I am so glad that all the animals, you, and family made it through this freezing 🥶 weather. ❤
Your boys sure do keep you in there site.❤😊
their sight

Hot chocolate is wonderful when you come in from the cold!
Great video! So glad you all made it through the cold ❤❤ love you all so much! Continued prayers and God bless ❤❤
Hey Brooke ❤ Just love your secret service detail ❤
If you detach hose from spiket put the opposite end over a fence or high place line will drain and not freeze. 😊
Spigot

And dirt mound for dogs!
The last time you let Matilda have access to one of the cows she was not interested. She wanted her humans more so!
Good morning to you.❤. Loved seeing you dogs on top of the mound. More fun for them.
Brooke your sled is wardimg off that snow lol
The ice is always thicker around the edges of the pond where the water is the shallowest.
I giggle to myself when you say you are going to de-thaw water. I know you mean you are going to thaw water, it just is cute the way you say it.

I'm thinking of when you cut the trees down in the woods,Jason could build something for the goats with the tree limbs.
I’d leave that blanky on Pocket with this weather
I’m in south Louisiana, way south, and we got 10 inches!!! Incredible
Wow! I think that’s more than we’ve had near Chicago the entire month of January.
That is amazing!

Houston, Texas got snow that accumulated. Everything was white.
Good Morning Cog Family & Squad
It snowed 6-7inches here where I live in South Georgia. I am 59 and have never seen it do that. So sorry you didn't get any.

Dearest Brooke, get a 6 foot hose to fill bovine water. You can unhook and keep in the milk room, from freezing. Beats hauling across the field.
What kinda tower is next to your property?
