If you must have such security let a professional do it as opposed to a teacher. However, most deaths are caused by handguns. So you can see, there is already a precedent for the liberals. Once we get the rifles, we can start blaming handguns (since they are the real killers).

    Donnie and the NRA have a really strange idea that shooters select their targets based on a checklist. In fact, most shooters attack a school with which they have a connection, often which they are attending or attended in the past. For this reason, the idea that the shooter has no idea which teachers are armed is a non-starter, mainly that the people with that opinion have not yet started learning to think seriously.

    As an European, I seriously do not get your logic. I mean, come on, every other civilised country manages to get some kind of gun control in place. Even your beloved Norwegians. It's not that complicated. Just as you say: guns should only be in the hands of the best - and they have to prove that they are, indeed, capable of owning something potentially deadly. Also, the willingness to just kill another human being, attacker or not, is startling. The whole affair just leaves me in a mixture of terrified awe, speechlessness and anger.

    First off, not a lot of military veterans in teaching. Second, I am very leftist, yet do believe in school security. However, trained security guards, are one thing. Teachers should not be that. My mom is a teacher and she would end up shooting herself in the foot. And I grew up with police and security guards on campus due to gang related violence, and they stopped people from entering the school with guns during gang conflicts, and also used to patrol and protect the school. But not every school can do that. They were friendly and made us feel safe, but it’s sad we are to that point. Security should be enforced, but more importantly the education of mental illness, and emergency plans in place to protect students. There should be more protection in school so kids are safe once they are inside, but NOT armed teachers. Checking students for weapons and enforcing security measures is needed. But, also, education should be just that, educating on mental illness, safety, and also they should talk about things in school to help identify harmful behavior, how to react in those situations, and provide counseling for any one suffering from mental illnesses. Defense needs to happen, but not in the form of teachers forming a militia. These things will happen and it is awful, but we need to protect the students, keep harmful adults and others off of campus, and help but defensive and “offensive” preventative mental health support systems in place to help prevent the downward spiral of hurting students and maybe even teachers. This is sad that his response to everything is “shoot em”. These dads need to start thinking about what is best for their grandkids, and how they can prevent this type of thing happening in the future.

Dont get me wrong for every one of those teachers, i had good teachers who genuinely inspired me to learn. But teachers are human beings like the rest of us and they're just as susceptible to making mistakes.

Following his own logic however he then accidentally stumbled upon the obvious solution to this problem of banning not just some, but all semi automic rifles. Wich is exactly what most people in the audiance want. Thus they applauded him for countering his own argument by accident.

      'Yup, so we should do absolutely nothing to make it more difficult for them...' - teachers and students used to carry guns to the school in America in 1950's, 60's, 70's and so on.....no mass shooting phenomenon was observed back in those times which indicates that the problem is societal and not attributable to guns. Here's an interesting graph - thesocietypages.org/feminist/files/2015/12/Mass-Shootings-Stanford-1.png

      Also, trucks, cars, knives, acid, chemicals etc have been used in Europe by Islamic terrorists in place of guns so banning guns seems to be futile to which you could claim that society needs trucks, cars, knives and acids so we can't ban them unlike guns BUT people in rural and sub-urban regions where the 911 response times are abysmal do need guns to protect themselves for house intruders, robbers etc so guns are needed by society as well.

    So schools become military confinements? Instead of making the issue more complex. I know make it easier for all. 1) Raise the age to purchase and carry to 21. 2) Ban assault weapons 3) Illegalize bunt to make weapons semi-automatic and automatic guns. 4) Long term goals: reverse supreme court decision that corporations are people and get money out of politics - so this mess and others doesn't happen again.

      you have a gun problem in your country. you have to have stricter gun laws for private citizens. striker then what you are suggesting, in a modern western nation only profetional police officers, security personnel, and military personnel should have access to guns.
      but the reality now that guns are common, arming the teachers is an insane idea, but you do need to hire armed security guards to post at schools all around America. because even with gun control it would take several decards to the number of guns already present in the US to drop. you can't make any legislation that would magically get rid of all the guns you have in your county.
      gun free zones need to be protected by professionals with guns until the threat of gun violence is removed. that's just logic.

      @@anarch1.c I agree that we should not have fully automatic weapons for public use even though our constitution says we should have the same grade weaponry as the military in case of government tyranny. But most semi automatic rifles have a clip of about 30 rounds which I don't think is to much. Some hanguns can hold around 20-25 bullets so not much of a difference. If we had a ban on semi auto rifles today it just wouldn't work the way people want it to. Americans that follow the law would probably give up there guns but not criminals or just ones that don't want to do it. This would just cause less law biding and good citizens to have guns and more bad guys to have guns. Very very risky if you ask me.

But I must say, I'm not surprised, your history is pretty short compared to the other's country and it's strongly characterized by wars. Your whole history in the first place is based on a genocide. Destruction and self-absolution are so interlinked in the american culture...

    My problem with this solution besides the fact that it is ridiculous, but how long before a crazy angry teacher turns on a student because, let's be honest, our children aren't the easiest to teach nowadays and can push a teacher to the limit.

      Brenita Bridges I couldn’t agree more. The idea of teachers being armed is asinine. I’m a Trump supporter, but this is a horrible idea. Unfortunately, I see a lot of finger pointing, with nobody offering a solution that would have prevented this or any other mass shooting.

      Stupidly small numbers is my "stupid point" the number of deaths due to school shootings is stupidly small (roughly the same as botched circumcisions) and I am sure the rate of assault by teachers is going to be even stupidly smaller.

    • @AmbitiousAlgiers
      @AmbitiousAlgiers 6 лет назад +1

      why should they protect themselves of a gun shooting while other teachers in other countries don't have that problem in the first place, also, "protect themselves" ? by going on a head to head western style facing the shooter with an assault rifle, when even the police officer who got to the school first didnt even go into it ?

    • @daniellarsen5520
      @daniellarsen5520 6 лет назад

      Mahrez Mus the other country argument does not and probably never will work in America. Gun control? We've tried it. Several times. Maybe you don't remember the assault weapons ban we already had during Clinton. It didn't stop gun violence in any way. Or maybe look at California, Illinois, or New York. All these "common sense" gun measures are in place there and together they have the most gun violence in the country. So what's your suggestion? We let the teachers and by proxy the children be helpless? Or do you give them a fighting chance? You don't want more children to die but you refuse to admit that gun free zones, common sense gun safety, or any of that shit doesn't work. So what are our options? Just let it keep happening?

    "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". Which was OK in 1791 when the US did not have a standing army and people needed to defend themselves from external threats, native Americans and indeed each other. We don't live in 1791 anymore. Its also interesting that people who believe that the 2nd Amendment is sacred text but think the First Amendment can be ignored with impunity when people dare to use free speech to criticise gun owners.

      My dude, that's what a militia was. People used to have a genuine need for militias, especially further from the major cities, because it would take weeks for the government to respond to an attack on the town. That's not a thing anymore, and even when it was, the weapons they had were nowhere near the level of refinement they are now.
      Also, try to grasp the fact that we're not trying to take all your guns. You don't need a military-grade (semi) automatic rifle, you just don't, I don't care, you _don't._ But, like, nobody's saying you can't go hunting, or keep a pistol for self defense, or whatever. We'd just like to make sure you're not a lunatic before you buy a device specifically designed to kill things you point it at.
      ...Oh. Is _that_ what you guys have such a problem with?

      Because whats happening is continuing moral decay of our families as generation after generation of undisciplined kids grow up to be even worse parents. Allowing unlimited access to internet and uncontrolled cell phone usage to everything someone can imagine. No discipline, no morals, no character, no control and no family. Self control and decency is destroyed by liberal action and inaction. Who wants to be inconvenienced by disciplining the children? that would take time away from all the fun immoral stuff.

      You do have some merit in your observation. It's like comparing Game of Thrones and Andy Griffith. You have the young girl assassin verses the gosh, golly, gee wiz crowd. As a young boy I remember local stores being closed on the sabbath. There is something to be said for sociological traditions that brings communities into lock step when it comes to indoctrinating moral fibre.
      On the other hand, sometimes ignorance doesn't grant bliss. Then again, people now spout all sorts of crazy conspiracy theories all over the internet. Like Patton was assassinated by Eisenhower or those contrails are actually chemtrails used in "geo engineering", and those flat earthers. Used to be that we only had a few radio and TV stations broadcasting, and our local newspapers. Crazy ideas didn't get much chance to circulate.
      Still the underlying problem is anxiety, brought by the hidden tax called inflation. This plus those nutty conspiracies are combining into a dangerous mix.

      All too right. Had a guy argue with me saying it's perfectly normal for a single woman to own an AR15. The mentality behind that is astounding. As I recall the attack at Sandy Hook, it was the teachers own weapon that was turned against the school. They're just too many weapons lying around. Just get rid of them. Hunters can have their bolt action rifles, and double barrelled shotgun would suffice for home protection if semi automatics were removed from the landscape. Semi automatics aren't about accuracy, they're about volume of fire. Crowded situations wouldn't come under fire as much if one slows down the rate of fire.
      There's no real point to semi automatic assault weapons except for mass murder.
