Good to see it performing well in winter. I'm looking at onewheels as an option for commuting around the city for a carless person, but was wondering how well they can handle snow.
I would guess that snow packed inside the fender would really impact performance and battery life as well. I rode in wet leaves the other day and they packed in between the tire and frame and ATE my battery life (and sounded narly)
now that is fantastic..... I missed onewheeling out in snow in nashville by a month or so cos I just now bought one but cannot wait till next year. definitely will invest in a treaded tire for that lol
I live in Montana and my XR does great in the 5-6 inches of snow we just got. Im riding on the stock slick and it only will slide out if you lean to far forward which is obvious. My range hasn’t been impacted while riding on my board to much, I would see that i loose 3 or 4 miles at most. Dam these things are so fun!
I have an XR and personally I have tried this. The onewheels are pretty well water resistant so they work pretty well with some water but just not submerged in entire puddle
I am a winter lover. Although I do not own a one wheel, as soon as the streets dry here in Butterfield, MN, I will be out on the streets with my electric skateboard. Only two dislikes as of midnight. I figured there would be many more considering how many Minnesotans complain about winter:)
20% battery on 8" of snow hahaha classic. Love it! Silicon heaters above and below the battery case, or even insulation can help with range and crucially performance. Straining the battery to dead isn't the best idea
I live in Hopkins MN, next year I’m gonna be getting a backfire board. First time getting something electric. I use to snowboard but got injured in vail and it scared me out of snowboarding but still like boarding.
Great footage. The after ride clean up would give me anxiety. lol I don't like to ride with wet roads on my XR but when it is wet or I get caught in a storm, I do a complete wipe down and put her away bone dry. I have a Craft and Ride fender with the thumb screws which makes clean up a breeze. I keep my board cleaner than my car. lol
Got a link to the Hoosier tire you bought? I live in Canada, and was wondering if it was worth while with all our snow, so your video really has me thinking it's possible.
@@ScotMendenhall That's great to hear! I live in Syracuse, NY (Snowiest city in the US) But we salt our roads here. I'm more worried about corrosion. Any tips for cleaning, post snow? P.S. you've inspired me to think about MAYBE getting some pints for my kids. Family rides look like a blast!
We got a few inches in Vermont man nice video!! I like your jacket do you take your boys out fishing much ? What tire is your favorite again for the xr? With snow coming I’m switching over soon
@@ScotMendenhall I do. It’s been 20yrs since I moved to Florida and it gets worse every year. I do make it back for the annual family deer hunt though!

Oh shit did u guys just get your first snow fall of the year wow! That came out of no where oh my God I got a electric bike and I would hate to ride in this snow to work lol
Greetings from Brainerd! I got my pint earlier this spring. I honestly didn’t know Onewheel snow was a combo that was doable! Question I have, what tire do you recommend me putting on before our lovely snow falls so I’m ready for winter? I ride slick but obviously treaded will be my winter ride. Thank you in advance!
yeah i wonder the same. It seems like he purposefully made a video about riding in the snow, without relevant details about best tires to use... this is why the thumbs down button was useful
Hey Scot, are you getting good on snow 2 years on? We have had zero snow in Nottingham, England in a few winters now. Bar the odd half an hour slush fest
I can't choose, both serve a very different purpose. sorry. you gotta have both. but if i could only have one then its the XR................ or maybe the Pint. I just can't. lol
Ya, I hear ya. Was just curious because I have the XR and bought the pint for my daughter. After riding both there are plus’s and minuses about both. The XR has a wider stance, easier to balance, and maybe harder to turn then pint but the pint has shorter stance (which I like) and is super easy to turn. Both are fun that’s for sure.
I live in MN to and needed to see this
Good to see it performing well in winter. I'm looking at onewheels as an option for commuting around the city for a carless person, but was wondering how well they can handle snow.

True statement. Most of the time the heat from the tire keeps melting that snow so it doesn't build up to bad.
OH MAN. It's snowing today here and my Pint is charging up! Thanks for the inspiration to ride in the snow!
i love to see proof that it can tear right through snow, my foot is finally healed up and i’m riding now.
That's awesome to hear that you are all healed up
Great Onewheel video! Thanks for your contribution!
Duluth MN here! I'm freaking buying one these asap lol

What do you think of the soccasin by badger? Have you tried that??
is your OW "badgered" for such wet conditions?
I want to know this too
doesnt FM deny warranty if you exposed it to water like this?
Nope i have never done that. I just ride and then let it sit with charger port down.
all my boards are stock.
There is a risk of that i am sure
So how much runtime can you get with a full charge in snow ?
Maybe a 2 miles less but it all comes down to how cold it is.
70 degrees here in Pittsburgh. Great night for a ride. Not too long before Jack Frost pays us a visit though 😆
It was pretty fun to get this much snow in Oct.
Big question tho is your board badgered? Is that crucial? I live in Montana! I have the treaded but no waterproofing. Seems legit love the vid.
Yeah I’m curious about that as well
Pints are sealed a lot better than XR. Most pints are probably fine doing this but sealing can be inconsistent. XR you should definitely badger.
My board is stock and have rode 2 winters like this with not issues .
@@ScotMendenhall have you rode in the rain???
I’m from Alaska and am thinking about the XR but we have snow half the year would a trended tire be a must have?
I rode for almost 2 years with the stock tire so I think you would be good.
sweet!
Thanks!
Any long-term water damage to the OW from riding in the snow??

how do you install the treaded tire onto the pint?
there is a video that we made on our channel to show how to do that

What did snow gets in the charging port
As long as you let it dry out before plugging in to charge then you should be fine.
Now does it really feel like a snowboard?
Yes totally
What colors are those on your onewheel
Dark Olive Green. and Fluorescent Yellow handle
What part of Minnesota? I’m in shakopee
Maple Grove. and love it
don't do it on a slick tire, that's for sure! and dry snow much better than wet snow :D
Yes and that snow was wet snow for sure

good call.
