Like Gilmour, Jeff Beck has always been my favorite guitarist. I was fortunate enough to see him six times over the years. I left every show feeling like I had seen something truly extraordinary - almost other-worldly. This video explains all the reasons why. He was truly one of one. He never rested on his laurels - he continued to innovate through the years and was still so vital at the time of his passing. RIP, Mr. Beck

Jeff has been my favorite guitarist since 1965 when He was in The Yardbirds. His playing and technique was on another planet. RIP Jeff. We miss you. Thank you for the video.

Also at that star studded first gig was Chris Squire, Playing for the opening act. Jimi talked to him and there is a interview with Chris here on youtube, The impression I get is Jimi was looking for a new Bass Player but Chris was too standoffish and Posh by his own account. He does not say Jimi was shopping but Noel was having a hard time with the Purple Haze riff while they were rehearsing. Steve Howe also auditioned for Pink Floyd, he was to play at a Gig but Syd showed up so he had to sit it out. Imagine Steve Howe in Pink Floyd, I don't think it would work, they are the masters of the space between the notes, Steve likes to fill that space. I also think that he would be just "too good" to play with them for very long.
Criminally underrated : Scotty Moore, Elvis's Guitarists. the Chuck Berry branch of RnR is the Ramones and Punk, repetitive and simple, Scotty's is the melodic Branch that gave us Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and that group of Textural Guitar Players who are not sticking to I IV V and double stop leads.

And Jeff Beck ends up guesting on Roger's Amused to Death... Wish he would have collaborated with David too.

I think my favourite guitarist is Allen Collins of Lynrd Skynrd closely followed by Rory Gallagher, Albert Lee. and John wood from Warren Zevon's band.

Jeff Beck was a talented guitarist with an individual style which did not really grab my attention. But he was an influence to so many other guitarists; RIP....

Does he not like really talented guitar players such as Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuell and Richard smith?

@@dawnschneider187 Page is the most overrated guitarist ever IMHO. he stole from everyone and can't play a decent solo live. really sloppy. there are so many great guitarists who are lightyears ahead of him.
No offense, it is just my opinion as an amateur guitarist. Zep was very good hard rock music, I must admit - however not my piece of cake, not my genre.
