Dr. Kevorkian was an educated, compassionate, and understanding man. Compassion isn't trying to keep an eviscerated, dying, and suffering person/animal alive because of and for our own selfish reasons. When ending the suffering is the much more humane and selfless approach. He was and is an American hero in my book.

It has been more than 20 years since this was filmed and still it is illegal in 42 states in the US.
Of the 8 states where it's legal, it's only if they have a terminal illness with a confirmed prognosis of having 6 or fewer months to live So if you may live longer than 6 months then regardless of how much pain and suffering you have, it''s still illegal.

The doctor is amazing. There is no truer or more obvious part of freedom than, after living a life, to have the right to end when you want. Nobody else is in your body and only the person feeling the pain can decide if it's tolerable. If it's not and they are forced to deal with it until the bitter end, who does that help? Making someone suffer needlessly is a form of torture if it's against their wishes.

I wouldn't let an animal languish and suffer in this way. That poor man had every right to choose to leave his body behind. We all have an end - and, perhaps, it's simply a new beginning. At any rate, there's nothing wrong with an informed individual choosing to put an end to this sort of nightmare. When a human being is living with unbearable pain and suffering and their death is imminent they should be allowed to say "enough" - no one should be able to deny another person that right. And a doctor should be allowed to help so as to make it as humane as possible. Jack Kevorkian, you were the opposite of a "devil" and you were not the "angel of death". You were a merciful, brave human being. Again: this is a deeply personal matter and individuals should be allowed to make these choices for themselvers - and caring medical professionals should be allowed to assist.

Dr Kervokian was a hero and had an amazing grasp of what freedom is,it gives you the right to choose when to die and how

Coming from Michigan, I've grown up knowing that famous people have (in part or in whole) spent their lives here. Then there's the infamous, like Dr. Kevorkian. I was very young when all this went down so I remember very little. We all have opinions, Lord knows _WE ALL_ have opinions, and this is mine: we are all individuals on this damn rock we call Earth, so why is it we are not allowed to end our own lives on our terms? Yes there is the religious aspect (there's no denying that), but we do it all the time for our beloved four-legged family members who have *no say* in what their rights are! Should _THAT_ be a crime too? Very recently a dear friend from our congregation lost their battle with ALS; they were an MD. They mentioned this whole "physician-assisted suicide" debate about a year before they past; their stance was against it, entirely. Said friend suffered for two years, and they did not want to end their suffering? It was *THEIR* choice to stay alive, no one else's. If I were to suffer like that, *MY* choice would be to end *MY* suffering *MY* way. There's not a damn reason that would _EVER_ influence me otherwise!!!

Why only physically ill people as opposed to just anyone?
