I still use my xz1 and it's the best phone I've ever owned. I've upgraded twice but I always go back when they break. I've dropped the phone hundreds of times, swim with it in my pocket, have had the phone filled with water so you could see the water level in the camera lens. Not a crack on the screen, still works like a dream. It's getting finicky to charge so I'm gonna buy another one brand new in box for $250...a steal if I do say so. My LG thinq dual screen was $1500 and it's already in the trash.

Realistically I could not charge it until I get home after a full day at work. Very impressive. If phones with bigger batteries get Oreo then their battery life could be even greater.
Still love the Sony industrial design that never dates, unlike over stylised phones that look cool at launch, but a year later seem dated. See the monolith in 2001 A Space Odyssey? Same aesthetic as Sony Xperia! If they sorted the low light camera quality (way too mushy) and added an S-Pen like stylus, be an attractive alternative to the competition.
Sony will change it, because people want it. but personally I like the current design. It's simple and practical. I send my S8 back and went for the XZ Premium. Way more comfortable for my to use. I don't care about the slick looks, I want a little bezel (less slippery, and not accidental input) and good antenna (meaning you'll get extra bezel on top or the bottom). Just wish the battery would be bigger and the DAC was louder. Other than that, the perfect phone (AMOLED wouldn't have hurt either).
i just got mine yesterday. coming from iphone 7 plus.. i have been a sony fan before and now im back. wasnt disappointed getting the xz1. dont care about bezeless phones that always have screen problems or overpriced iphones that most people buy just to look rich. been watching xz1 reviews for days before deciding to switch and its really worth it. the camera is much better than previous xz models and the selfie is awesome with front flash now! battery life is great as well im on 50% now and had run 3 hours screen on time mostly wifi social media youtube. so pls dont hesitate to get it: i had the s8 too and the front cam is much better witj xz1 even in low light.
Me too watching this from my xz1. I after 2 years of usage. I can tell Sony did pretty stable phone. A user of Xperia go, sl, miro, z1, z5, each one had its issues but xz1 was the ultimate phone they did. Even the ones after xz1 like xz2, xz3 and Xperia 1 and 5 had its common issues.
I had a Samsung s6 and it was slow and unstable near the end and awful battery life. My Sony phone is still going over 2 years and the battery life close to 5 hours of screen on time by far the best android phone I've had.
Sony makes the most beautiful devices, I love to customise my phone with Xperia themes, the Music app with many sound settings including Surround Sound, I own many Xperia Devices and I will get this model soon :)
They are slowly closing the gap with Samsung and Iphone. They were probably more focused on making Android run smooth on their phone. Now that they have done that; they will improve the design of the phone and it's features. Can't wait to see what the next XZ Premium will look like.
Got the xz1 for three months now and battery is amazing!! 4 hours of screen on time and I still got 48% left!! Speakers are great,, much much better than previous Sony phones!! Sony did a awesome job with this one!!

There are Xperias with 4K displays too, the Z5 premium is one of them and probably Sony's first. If it had just a 1080p display it would be nearly indistinguishable from the Xperia X because the style is basically the same. One other thing I like about Sony other than having specs that make their devices stand a mile out of the crowd a long time before everyone else is they are water resistant. What I like also is that they didn't make their phones ugly while making them water resistant. I like the clean design of their devices. Their 5 inch 1080p display has been around since 2013 and maybe sooner and even all those years ago it was a remarkable display and it still is. Sure some people might argue that Super AMOLED would be superior but those things are known for BURN IN!! I have never seen an IPS display with burn in even once on any brand of device. I can see why Samsung uses those displays but they are pure garbage otherwise and clearly NOT made to last.

Sony makes some really good phones. I have an Xperia X that continues to amaze people with the quality of the photos taken by its 23 MP camera. My mother has a Galaxy J3 and while it can take OK pictures she often uses my Xperia. Even the older Xperias with the 20.7 MP camera were very good too. We get yellow caterpillars in our yard at certain times of the year and I took a pic of one of them with my Xperia just to show the detail it can capture and I normally go the other way when I see something like that crawling around. You would too because those are American Dagger Moth caterpillars and I hear they are awful if they sting you!!
