Tip: you can unscrew the outlet cover plate for a much cleaner and easier way to do the outlets. Put screw loosely back in place, so you don’t loose it. Then you can clean up the outlet plates or cover them and screw back on. Tighten the screw to the point it is firm and the screw groove is straight up and down.

I love clever! One question or suggestion. As a professional Home Stager, TheCyberStager™️ (with OCD :), especially on your first two projects where coverings were thinner, I would have removed or loosened the outlet wall plates and reinstalled over new coverings. Only takes a minute to remove and leaves a perfect finished look.

I've been at it off and on for a few months now! 😩 But, I must say they are turning out beautifully. I used the gold runner that goes with those mats and I created a cute backsplash behind my stove. I love it.

thanks for sharing. great ideas. I highly suggest doing all of them the way you did the first one, on paper frame or some kind of frame. Even the adhesive can be done that way, without worring about a hard time after taking it down. At that point, once fixed, it can all be taken down by just removing the small nails or strong tape holding frame in place

FYI Mod Podge is actually an adhesive, not a sealer. It easily rehydrates, and turns milky and/or tacky. Its great for preventing runs and smears of perm inks from sealer application. In this situation, a good acrylic sealer or varnish would be long lasting, water / moisture resistant, and provide a high gloss finish if that's the desired end effect. With such beautiful and creative work, it would be a shame to have a top coat ruin the project.
I was thinking this as well. If one is attempting to clean grease and dirt from mod podge it's going to be a disaster

Question: Is there a reason you didn't take off the electric plate and cut the hole smaller then put the plate back on ?
It would make such a huge difference and is so simple to do. These are clever ideas, but they look VERY DIY because she cuts corners. It's still WAY more than a lot of landlords will do.

I have been looking lately for a way to cover both my backsplash and my countertops with contact paper in my rental, and I think you’ve given me the inspiration and knowledge on how to do it! I’m thinking that with your 3 coats of mod podge in addition to the plastic underneath it, it may very well work, but since I love the silver placemats, I believe this will be even more perfect for me! The 1st and 2nd designs are a tie for me and I’ve tried the peel and stick tiles and they do take of paint when you remove them

OMG I AM IN LOVE WITH THE SILVER FLORAL TABLE MAT BACKSPLASH!!!!!!! I don't have Amazon anymore so I'm trying to HUNT DOWN those table mats or something similar, that's such a beautiful idea!!!! Right now I'm actually using the Dollar Tree grey peel backsplash squares for behind my stovetop, but because they didn't stick very well I used a posterboard on the back and Command strips to hold it on lol. Not the best job, but I only came up with that idea because of YOUR channel and your BRILLIANT ideas!! I've been wanting to either fix it or put something different but actually peel-and-sticks are too expensive for my budget, and I wasn't a fan of contact paper either because it lacks texture. I'm SO in love with your table mat idea, seriously you are such a GENIUS!

She's usually pretty good about execution, but ...you could've literally taken off the outlet covers, get ur backsplash on as close as possible to the outlet and then screw the cover back on for a cleaner look. Rather than making the cut around the cover, making it super obvious.
