    Being a mature and seasoned 61 year old man and as a modded MK7 GTI owner, I gotta say it's just sad that some young men buy performance cars and drive them beyond their skill level on the public roads. Fortunately this young man did not injure an innocent and walked away from this nasty crash. I enjoy feeling and experiencing the performance that my GTI has to offer, but I do so only in certain conditions and well within the limits of my abilities and within the limits of my beloved GTI. ☮

    I own a MK7 and can tell you the stock ride height leaves a lot to be desired on demanding mountain roads with all their weird angles and twists and bends. I lowered mine with the H&R 1.3" drop and it feels like a whole new car on the mountain roads. There is no roll, just stays flat. I can also say if you put a wheel off on these roads, there's so much debris and no shoulder, so you're screwed if you go off too. Glad to see your buddy is good. The car saved him no doubt. RIP to the Rabbit.

    Once upon a time, I had a Mk 2 GTI. One day, after work, I followed my coworker home to visit his house. He was in an old early-1980s Mercedes sedan. We got the 270-degree cloverleaf exit curve and he just left me in the dust; just gone-gone. If I'd tried to keep up his speed, the GTI would have lifted the back wheel and spun out. It wasn't even close. Later I bought the cheapest Mercedes (C230 Kompressor sedan) and it easily outperformed the GTI is every respect. Never looked back.

    Don't drive like a DH on public open roads, take it to a track. This guy's ego overtook his driving ability. You are lucky you didn't hurt yourself or anyone else.
    Slow down and drive to your level of ability (a lot less than you think obviously) and the conditions.

    This can be fixed tho it aint that bad, looks like it held up pretty good, suspension drive shafts haldex change mby trans and body work will be costy but better than throwing it away. This also a problem with modern cars cause anyone can hop in and think they can control the car but that just lasts to the point where auto system have your back, that guy looks like some IT guy who never really got a hang of driving a raw car and was pushing computer to its limits

    • @alamos8
      @alamos8 Год назад

      Once all the airbags go, I think most commongly the car is totalled, as only that amounts to several thousands. Add to that the body damage, lights, an chassis damage, and that other things that always apper, snd I think here we are looking at a 15.000+ bill easily
