Just like with our BMW G80 open airbox intake sound video, we decided to mount our new microphones in the engine bay, near the exhaust and inside the vehicle to re-record the 2022+ Subaru WRX air intake to give you a clearer, more dynamic sample of the sounds as the vehicle cruises down the road.

Hello I have a few questions.. recently bought a 23 wrx gt. I’m very new to the car scene and really want to take my car to a little new level.. I’ve only really done an axle back on the car and some other exterior modifications.. I’m interested in this intake because I love the sound and want to know if it is safe to run on my car? Do I need a tune? Any error codes or check lights on the dash? thanks in advance

Can this be on a stock 2022 Wrx or does it have to be tuned. I’ve been looking for a cold air intake but a lot of them requires a tune.

None of them require a tune, tune is optional to get the most out of it. Some of them can cause your ecm to throw codes though.

SOME LIKE THE ETS MAKE THE CAR LEAN OUT TOO MUCH ESPECIALLY UP TOP..THE PERRIN IS REPORTED TO BE SAFE AS FAR AS AFR'S AND STOCK ECM TUNING. ETS WAS GREAT FOR FULL BOLT ON CARS WITH A TUNE AND IS PROBABLY THE BEST FOR BIG HP NUMBERS BUT I THINK THE MISHIMOTO SEEMS TO BE A GOOD MIDDLE GROUND. I WANT TO SEE IT ACTUALLY DYNO TESTED TO BE SURE ITS ACTUALLY AFR SAFE WITH STOCK TUNING BC ALOT OF MANUFACTERS SAY THEIR INTAKE IS SAFE BUT TESTING HAS SHOWN UNSAFE AIR FUEL RATIOS THAT WOULD REQUIRE TUNING IF YOU WANT YOUR ENGINE TO LAST AT ITS BEST.

One of the mics is mounted under the hood next to the intake!

@@mishimoto that’s why you could hear the suction noise when in boost. I’m guessing you can’t hear that noise when you’re in the car. Only the blow off like noises when releasing boost.

It's not required, but for maximum power gains, yes.
