As a post-doctoral researcher and conservationist, Flávia’s unwavering commitment to protecting small cats has only grown stronger. Under the guidance of her PhD co-adviser, Mauro Lucherini, and with the support of Dr. Jim Sanderson, who is establishing Working Groups for small cats, Flávia has taken on the role of creating and coordinating the Geoffroy’s Cat Working Group (GCWG). Officially launched on December 1st, the group has already attracted passionate partners from all the countries where the species is found. Together, they are building a network to mitigate threats to the Geoffroy’s cat, starting with education and the development of a comprehensive action plan. By documenting each project, engaging with communities, and sharing camera trap photos and relevant news, Flávia and her team are following in the footsteps of the successful Fishing Cat Conservation Alliance.

In each different area we focus the in some areas we don't have problems with cats trying to get chickens and the domestic cats are passing through in the same cameras of the the small wild cats because people are are living around there so in these areas we focus in neutering and in vaccinating and testing domestic cats.Also we are trying to toto neutering dogsfocus more on that. Also we we try to when you have opportunity we vaccinate them against rabies.Last year we have two reports of rabies one domestic cat in one area there are areas where the so in these areas as we are trying to engage the local population the main threat so we have there are roadkills too.
