- The Ikv 103 has been dropped in battle rating AGAIN! When the Ikv 103 was came along with Sweden it was 5.3 due to the fact it could research a 400mm pen HEAT-FS round that could send a King Tiger straight back to the hanger with a single shot.
This time around, it's been dropped to a SUPER low 4.0 BR! I wanted to play it to see how it faired! :)
Who doesn't want a ridiculously powerful HEAT-FS at 4.0???

I use this in my 5.7 Swedish line-up and it performs just the same. Good gun, everything kills it anyway so doesn't matter what BR.

As someone grinding the Sweden lineup and loved both the M-51 and Ikv 72, I think I'll like the combination of their good bits. Nice video

You'll definitely enjoy it then. I play it just like the 72, making use of the fairly low profile and extremely good depression, and it was insanely good at 4.7. I had no idea it was so disliked. You do have to be quite careful as your gunner can easily be killed, but you should already be playing it careful since you dont have any armor
Sweden is really fun, you get a bit of germany, russia, sweden and soon U.S because of how Gaijin decided to add Finland and Norway which means F-18s and F-16s etc. Probably one of the best trees to spade for fun stuff.
Is there even M-51 in Sweden?

It's great but 5.0 is the worst BR for open tops imo; the only decent anti-air is the R3, and everyone plays it as a cap rusher tank destroyer like the m22, not an actual anti air.
And because it has armor that doesn't stop .50cals

I've had chemical rounds go through fences and similar (very common when using the pt-76 for me) since the update that lets them. I think they didn't implement it properly and while the shell seems fine visually it is a dead shell and will just ghost shell. Very cool snail.
It is very underrated. I did well with it at 4.7 mainly due to its speed, depression and of course its penetration.
i do well at 6.3 with it, i do bring it to 7.3 and i can get kills. Thanks to deppresion and low visibility. I love IkV103

This tank strikes me as having Sturer Emil-ism. Where it could be tiered down and just keep getting worse and worse the lower it goes right down to Reserve because it's gun already overkills stuff at it's original BR, it couldn't even survive a French Reserve tank's gun, stuff has more mobility (mostly just due to there being more light tanks) and lower tier tanks tend to get lower and lower reload speeds compared to it.
Its because _random_player_ tries to brawl with it instead of use it as a long range TD, there by sinking its BR.
@@obsidianjane4413 Its the Germany situation, Under-BR'd not because the vehicle is bad, but because nobody uses it correctly. Granted germany is just braindead and their tanks are under-BR'd because of that so they're broken OP. They also are the reason why most of the US is over-BR'd

This happened to me in the IS-1 when my shell hit a palm tree in American Desert when I was aiming at a Tiger I's upper front plate. Naturally he killed me right afterwards, and I'm still salty about it. Those tree hitboxes man lol, thanks for showcasing this so I could complain about it. :P
I love this thing. It's great getting into location and quickly and ambushing the enemy. Not a great street fighter, and definitely not a good toe to toe fighter, but great for sitting and peaking over a hill and clobbering enemy targets. Good modeling how this little tank is pushed back by the force of the gun firing. Well done.
Nah I love street fighting on Sweden map with this thing. I did ring around the Rosie with a tiger for a solid couple minutes and won

yeah the large round hitbox makes sense since its fin-stabilized, whether or not the fins catching on a tree would set of the round tho is a different matter

Maybe they modeled the fins on the actual HEATFS projectile. That might be the reason the volumetric is so scuffed.
I feel like 4.7 would be the actual best BR for this thing simply, so that it doesn't trivialize armor so easily (facing this thing in a Soviet heavy is annoying as hell). But honestly, I feel like 5.3 was the perfect BR for it, because come on, many things at those BRs sacrifice mobility and turret traverse for armor. Hell, the M-51 is 6.0 and it performs very well at that BR, this one is a tank destroyer with absurdly good depression that allows you to straight up not even look at enemies and camp on hills without a worry over getting shot. It's more situational than the M-51, but it excels at that situation alot (that is if you don't have objects in your way).
That the heat-fs shell detonates if you fire it next to a tree is kind of accurate.. the fins on the shell unfold after leaving the barrel and they can get pretty wide
I was playing it last night and actually bounced a t-34 shell with it's armor XD if I were that player I'd be soooo Pissed
Like the IKV72 when you have it crabbed up with the gun at -15 the effective armor is something like 80mm. You can't even angle down far enough in the hanger view armor pen view to see it. lol

@@OddBawZ Yeah but there wasn't a flash to indicate that clipping the tree triggered the HEAT if the server had judged it that way. And the vapor trail went all the way to the target. KInda both, maybe double ghosts, the server just said, "Nope", and the client went, "Uh...... how about a tree?" Typical weirdness in the way WT handles asynchronous events.
I’ve still been getting the occasional ghost shell especially with the M18
To be fair, this HEAT shell should have folding fins so the collision diameter should be more than 105mm.

Sweden/Finland got a amazing 1.7 line up now. The T-28 is a monster, and then you got the SAV with 50mm frontal, the gind is almost fun 😆

I play this thing like an artillery from long range, just use the map to range your target and stay on cap so you can reload and set a trap

I for some insane reason have been grinding Sweden(the aircraft tree is the worst), and this thing was a surprise in how much fun I had with it. It was a little monster that surprises people.
I grind France, Swede grind is nothing compared to that

Low tier and A21 is great, especially for CAS, and SK60 and SAAB are great too. The J28/29 kinda all suck, true, and so does the J32/34, so ABSOLUTELY go for the A32 and use that to grind your Viggens and Drakens. High tier air ain’t like America or Russia, that’s for sure.
Otherwise, Sweden is pretty great at every ground BR except for an underdeveloped mid-late tier, 5.3-7.0 ain’t great, but once you hit 7.3, it’s honestly one of the best at the higher BR.
The SAAB is great, I used it to grind literally every vehicle in Tiers 5 and 6 until the A32
J22 is a good fighter, but sweden's ground attack is utterly awful until late midtier.
Now that Finland has the Buffalo, it's actually possible to play low tier ground pound
In fairness this ridge on the Finland map is absolutely made for this tank
I like playing the modern tanks everyone once in awhile, but I have the most fun mid-tier and low-tier. More good battles like these two.

It has an amazing shell, pen wise, and nothing more going on for it
I guaranteed it's not the round diameter that's bugged. I stopped playing with HEAT for the most part because of it popping prematurely on everything it gets anywhere close to. I've had countless rounds explode on things it should've clearly flew past.

Well considering that the SU-100 is at 6.0 with less pen, slower reload rate, and a slower top speed/ turn rate. The only thing that it does better is the armor yet it’s at 6.0 while the IKV is at 4.0. Don’t know what Gaijin was thinking.
hay odd i was wondering if you could do a challenge? it would be to kill as many 2s38's with the SAPHE round on the begleit. i found out that by hitting the turret with the SAPHE you can overpressure it... love the vids they always bring a smile to my face, keep up the amazing work.

Please play the 75/34 M43, its the italian stug thing at 3.3. It has trolly front armour and is very good at its br.
i prefer the predecessor to this tank, lower BR and also has a Scary round, killing a IS6 in RB was satisfying

I use this vehicle at 7.3 with no issues. The gun still punches just fine and the depression is still amazing. Really, 7.3 in the IKV 103 is the same as 4.0 since you have the same weaknesses and the 105mm HEATFS still smacks. You just need to be a bit more careful with shot placement.

with something like this the lower it goes the worse it gets, it faces lighter, faster vehicles with faster firing guns, so the pen is just overkill and the shit chassis with a low velocity gun and slow reload starts to hurt you. It's honestly better at 5.7-7.0 than it is at 4.0

I shot one of these point blank with an HE shell and the ammo detonation blew off my tracks and barrel in a Panther D

Ah.. the 4.0 doom cannon that can lob a shell over a hill.. love using this on people who don't expect it to nail you lol
the shell in question is a shaped charge not HEAT. heat shells will go through trees and still hit the target but shaped charges won't as heat shells are essentially AT shells that do more damage. things like the pz 4 use HEAT shells as standard and has a shaped charge as an unlockable ammo type. HEAT has decreasing pen when increasing distance while shaped charges has constant penetration regardless of range
That last game looked like fun.
This thing has the St Emil syndrome. It's BR keeps getting lower and lower and performance worse and worse bcz at low tier u need fast reloading APHE not a big gun that can 1 shot/pen anything 2-3 BRs higher with a long reload that has no armor, St Emil would do well at 5.3 or 5.7 and Ikv 103 would do just fine at 6.0 or 6.3, there the pen it has actually matters and most tanks dont have a 3 sec reload.

I thought I was the only one who thought that the tank destroyers with ridiculous guns and no armor were better at higher BRs. I use my Sturer Emil as a part of my German 5.7 lineup and it performs great. The enemy tanks are slower and bigger, and the games themselves seem to take longer, allowing more time for the ridiculous penetration of the main gun to carve through the frontal armor of enemy tanks like it´s made of paper. The only downside is the reload.

I was soooooooo excited to get this thing. Then I tried overpressuring things with its HE, which never works. So I tried its stock HEAT and more often then not it does nothing either. And then I unlocked the HEATFS and slam my head on the desk when T-34's and KVs just eat the rounds. No other vehicles do it - the IKV's bug just highlights a "bug" with these two cheat-mobiles.
I have been waiting so long for a new video on this.
Just had a sherman driver eat the entire HEAT FS round, and for said Sherman to take me out with 50.cal. Ah Warthunder, you make no sense

U can always uptier any vehicle (that's why I prioritize to punish low tier HE troll on rank 5+, like the Sturmpanzer II), but when they rate nerf something it might never be played again; do to better options on its new BR, or do to lack of any/decent lineup, and nobody would risk an uptier with it. (yes I'm looking at: T31 (3.7→4.0), KV-1C (4.7→5.0), HMS Liverpool (5.3→5.7), T-34/43 (3.7→4.0), EVERY Chinese helicopter's BR (only 4 weak missiles on 9.7 and no countermeasures or thermals? No auto-track, only 2 hard-points and nothing else, still weak AGMs, on 10.0; what CCIP? Who's that stupid in the DEV team? ... ect)
looks like I need to wheel this thing out... love other Swedish TD (the Pvkv III is my favourite vehicle)

i bounced four shells on this tank with a chi nu , i still don't how i probably kept hitting some weird spots (in my defense the dude had a ton load of bushes and i was out of heat shells) was down right mad because i knew that tank had basicly no armor

I really like glass cannon vehicles like this one and the su-57b. You should make a video on that one I don't think you've ever featured it on the channel! Super great gun at a pretty low tier
