I think you don't know the full story. I wouldn't believe that courts are in the business of giving max sentences for all cases. There's lots of reasons to give leeway for people be it medical, family, mental previous behaviors and being compliant. The criminal justice system isn't all about punishment. It's also about correcting and rehabilitating people too.

At the lowest point in my life got pulled over by a cop, tax expired. No registration license expired, and I had drank too much. I told the cop, everything brutally, honest and cooperated the next day I fix all of it, and all I got was a $200 ticket, not proud of it but remember ALWAYS cooperate.

When my son was small he had trouble with his ears and had to have a couple of surgeries.. there’s no way I would have left that hospital, I just sat and waited, if he had come out of the theatre and had woken up and I was not there for him to see when he opened his eyes I would have never forgiven myself.. nothing could have made me leave that hospital room and leave my son alone..

That is the problem with the US justice system. 9 times out of 10 prosecutors and judges are just too lazy to do their jobs and the charges are either dropped completely or reduced to lesser charges. No one learns a lesson from that when all it is a slight slap on the wrist. It's like getting a warning compared to that actual ticket. Can say at least from my experience that I am paying a lot more attention to the speed I am at in an area I got a ticket in compared to the areas I might have been warned.
Her “tears” at the end are the only comedic comfort I need.

There should be a law that the police only have to explain the situation twice, not 30 times.
Most cops are trained to use a simpler "First, you ask them to do it. Second, you tell them to do it. If those fail, them you MAKE them do it.".
Most cops are way cooler with folks than that rigid, but effective system. Maybe to the detriment of society, a bit.
However, I'm glad, as someone who was younger and stupid, but raised to be polite and respectful, that most cops tend to be really cool if you just treat them with respect and some basic courtesy.
I've been cuffed up and detained before, and even read the riot act in the back of a police cruiser, but I've never pushed it to the point where the cops had to tell at, fight with, or even attempt to incapacitate me.
The cops could just stop dialogue. They just keep yapping and yapping just like her.
