I can’t tell you how much your work means to me. I’m a psychotherapist. This week my black, 8 year old, female client told me that she wanted “yellow hair and white skin, because that’s how you get soft, long hair.” She told me in a following session that people with black skin and short hair can’t be princesses. I showed her your book and she was mesmerized! Thank you for making fairytales come true!
I have never seen your work before , so thank you Sunday Morning (one of my favorite shows ever, just for this reason) for featuring this AMAZING Talent. I have never seen anything so inspiring, so creative & so intensely stunning! I am in awe of your beautiful vision and storytelling. I am a 63 year old white woman & the only reason I mention that is because I am sad to hear of those ignorant people who sent you derogatory comments, it makes me embarrassed. I am so proud of your ability to show a perspective that represents so much of the entire population. It encourages & showcases those who have not always been able to be celebrated for reasons that have never made sense. Thank you so, so much for giving your art to the world for all to experience the beauty & fall in love with. Such beautiful, beautiful bright faces! I LOVE YOUR WORK!! ❤❤❤❤❤😊😊🫶
They were the keynote speakers for a photography conference I attended last year. They are such lovely people and amazing photographers who have a unique and special vision! I love seeing all the work they’re doing ❤
I’ve been following their work for YEARS and am a proud owner of their book and supporter of their mission so this profile warmed my heart! Wishing them continued, and even greater, success 💕.
I am so grateful for such an amazingly, gifted couple . As I watched and listened my heart was bubbling over with love for them and the creative work they do that is making a beautiful difference in the world.❤
I salute this artistic brother and sister photographic team for what they’ve done and are currently doing. (All) Children are created amazing and gorgeous. This educationally informative video is so very much appreciated because, in this instance, “Blacks is/are truly Beautiful.” So, I must say that I love the little and very dynamic soul brother and sister who were featured in this video. They make me feel so good about being who I am and also who the Most High Alone created me and all others in the rest of “hue-manity” to be who they are. Again, salute to the wonderful and ingenious photographer team deluxe for a job well done. Keep up the grand work. ❤ from the bottom of my soul. Sincerely, Imam Hakim Abdul-Ali.
AbsoIuteIy STUNNING imagery! 📚🌟These are BEAUTIFUL BLACK perspective portrayaIs of reimagined fairy taIe stories that artisticaIIy showcase intrigue and positive seIf-images. BRAVO!
This is amazing ❤❤❤this is bringing so much joys right now. Healing through is the most powerful thing ever. Where are you located ? I’d love to meet. And don’t listen to negative comments. They don’t matter what matters is what you’re doing for this beautiful young kids to have their dream come true ❤❤
Such beautiful imagery! I loved the interview segment with the two kids, seeing how the photos had helped their self-esteem. Kudos to these photographers!!
“When you go to google and you search for kids in Africa what are you gonna see? You’re going to see kids starving” 2:37 I just looked it up it is so sad how true this statement is, I applaud them this art is god produced 🙏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
These stories have been retold and rearranged for centuries. Even the Disney versions were not original. Actually, some of the original versions probably would not be acceptable for children. These photos are stunning and I can't wait to get my copy.
I think they do. But if I were them if they can't find them in America look to Africa. I lived in Uganda and in Uganda alone there are thousands of fairy tales and that is one country in Africa can you imagine what the continent has and the Caribbeans. Why not take photos of middle eastern kids using the stories of A Thousand Arabian Nights.... etc. This is beautiful but it's still telling white stories.
@@pamelajudithrwanyarare8429 Well shouldn't a Middle Eastern person take those photos and tell those stories? Black folks are focused on Black matters. And regardless as to whomever wrote those stories, Everyone should get a chance to see themselves in those stories. It's funny how It's you who are always focused on us though.."🤔
All the fairytales that Hans Christen Anderson. and the Brothers Grimm made popular have versions across the world. This couple is based in America, not Africa, so the stories they reference are based on what is more popular in this country.
@@TheQuietStorm630 that reference was just an example because it's the first stories I thought of as I am actually reading A Thousand Arabian Nights. But come to think of one of my favourite stories from when I was about 6 years old in Uganda called Walukaga, it's hilarious and about a blacksmith. It's one of the funniest stories I have ever read in my life. There is an English version called Walukaga the Blacksmith.
Yes, they do. The South in the US is famous for its storytelling with many coming from the folktales of African Americans. You will even see stories change from Appalachia to the Low Country.
We’ll add this to the list - The Vikings, Cleopatra, Judaism, Dutch Fairytails … they keep trying to appropriate everyone else’s culture but when it’s supposedly done to them, it’s a problem…I’m so sick of this nonsense.

Cultural appropriation is a real problem. Proud people celebrate their own stories, they don't cheapen and reimagine others' cherished tales.
Do African Americans have folk stories and fairytales?

Onions?????!!!!

❤️❤️❤️
Fairy tales gone woke
So? You mad?
Is it really so hard to be kind?
End racist black supremacy!!!
Why is it ok to cultural appropriate everyone else's historical stories? #racismisracism
"Our stories"? Folk stories and fairy tales are everyone's and no one's. I love what these two are doing. It's so beautiful.
So African folk stories turned into a movie made by White people with an all White cast would be ok based on your logic?! 🤔
Leonardo DiCaprio would have made a superb Kunta Kinte.
That was an amazing, beautiful, story! Thank's ; Hope and faith in our Future ! This is what The Real America is all about! Imagine Peace!
the 'apeing' of fairy tales.
That is REALLY racist.
They can add Bootleg Ariel to this mess, cause that's all she'll ever be. and she'll fit in perfectly with these "re-tellings"
