I am currently in first year in a decent college (not any nit or iit) and have done the basics of ds and algorithms. I have also learned a bit of web development and really liked the backend part. I want to know if learning desktop application using libraries like electron or native system language like c++ or c# is a good choice for a fresher like me if I want to go into open souce and learn stuff as I am not very much interested in learning front libraries for web development like react or angular.

Bhaiya how do we know that many people are working on a single open source project ? Are there number of people specified too that are working on the specific project on github

How can I filter open source projects by categories or programming languages? Like I want to see projects in Python or say data science or ML only, can that be done? And then sort those filtered projects in order of popularity or highest number of contributions etc
See the GSoC website, the actual coding starts in the summer but applications are due before then and the students who will get selected are contributing now
