Nice install. Important not to coil a bunch of the antenna wire together behind the dash, you wanna play it out - couldn't see that in the vid. Many people will coil it up and zip-tie the extra length together which can hurt their radios performance. I bought one of these two weeks back and have been waiting for a warmer weekend to do the install into my wife's Forester. There's a strong repeater in our town for GMRS (as well as ham) and I've found that my Wouxan KG-905 handhelds can hit it from just about everywhere in town so the bride's rig should be very capable - esp since I invested $80 into a Laird mount and a Larson antenna which I've trimmed to length per the cutting guide on the packaging. Can't wait to get my family into a bit of coms. Hope you'll do a follow-up vid on how well she performs for you. Just wish it could do split tones as a couple of the GMRS repeaters nearby need that ability.
There is a access plug on the drivers side thru the firewall to run cables
Did you just slightly lift the rear and ran the cable between the top and cab?
Excellent video, exactly what I wanted to see, very helpful, keep up the great work!
Thanks so much!!! We appreciate the feedback!!

Thanks for the feedback, enjoy your setup! Since we installed the antenna on the rear rack there is not a lot of excess wire.
What was the magnetic mic mount that you used?
We used the product Magnetic Mic - www.amazon.com/dp/B0153KY2GY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_G6EZAXSMD8YRRJXJEH7Y
Bizarre choice to drill a random hole like that for the mic 😂 Sloppy.
Poor choice of location, unnecessarily complex.
