    Having a queue completely removes the benefit for me. I use cloud to quickly jump in and play things that I don’t want to wait for it to download or spend the time clearing out space on my hard drive. I tend to play more variety of games with x cloud because there is less friction, but adding a queue time completely changes that. Now I need to make more of a conscious decision about n if I want to wait 10 minutes just to try something.

      It's kind of like VR. It's here but it's premature and too early, needs to develop a hell of a lot over the next decade or it'll die out. Big innovations in cloud latency need to be made and need to get to the convenience Google Stadia had with how quick it was to fire up games.

      It cost the a lot of money to run servers. Microsoft should make every PC a hybrid Xbox machine, that have dual operating system depending on what it is being used for. Xbox UI would be use for gaming.

    • @2drealms196
      @2drealms196 Год назад

      Another possibility is they are acquiring users slightly faster then they can create xbox cloud blades. As for why they are losing money, MS doesn't instantly get reimbursed for the cost of the hardware, like they do when retailers buy consoles (and then the retailers get reimbursed when a consumer buys from the retailer). Instead MS has to pay for the server blade hardware, and gradually recoup that initial big loss via monthly subscription revenue from their Xcloud userbase.
      So that exec could may have been twisted the perception of things to make MS appear less capable of dominating cloud gaming in the future, so they'd get regulatory approval.

It's absolutely disgusting that the CMA blocked the ABK merger over cloud concerns. Shows just how out of touch the CMA truly are. Cloud gaming takes an ENORMOUS amount of capital investment. • @sdngy
    @sdngy Год назад +15

    Cloud gaming queue time depends from region. It’s powered by Xbox series blade in their datacenters. Thing is , it is sized for a traffic in the thousands of simultaneous users per region. In case of peaks of user you’ll likely to be waiting for a while. Not sure they see massive adoption through latest Samsung tv as well. It might be the future of console but for now this future will happen in over a decade. Only thing that will bring cloud forward and we can see it with GeForce now is to bring games you can’t play locally because you don’t have the physical hardware.
    If you provide a game that can only work in cloud (with real time generative AI voice and dialogue, photorealistic graphics that needs a dual rtx4090 etc…) and good latency and that is incredible you will see more adoption.
    Immersive MMORPG sims might be the first logical step more than FPS.

    9 times out of 10 the load time is less than 30 sec.
    To be honest the picture quality is sometimes quite bad, but all in all I love the feature!

    I'm in Brazil and I'm seeing this queue message. Sometimes it shows a message that there are a lot of people playing the game at that time and I have to wait.
    I use Cloud Gamming to avoid downloading games on my console. I don't have a lot of storage (Series S), so downloading a game is not my first option.

    The future of gaming will be cloud gaming; however, today, it's not necessary. I don't think it's necessary today, but when bandwidth further improves in the future, it will be important. I do feel bad for companies that were releasing Xbox cloud gaming handhelds and even Samsung TVs that supported this feature.

      @silverjoystix4696 I am merely stating that we, as a whole, don't view cloud gaming as the "go to" option. If it was, we would, by majority, use it more. Do you regularly attempt to play games via cloud? I don't, yet.

    Cloud gaming on the steam deck is pretty great tho. For me it allows me to play some games that don't run on steam os without installing windows.
    The biggest barrier to xcloud finding users on the steam deck is the annoying procedures you have to go through to set it up. I hope they don't give up on it, instead they should target handheld consoles and add some new highly anticipated games to their cloud.
    If Starfield would launch on xcloud on day 1, I bet some people will not preorder on steam. At least I wouldn't.
    service.

    Cloud gaming I think does have a future just ask Nvidia Now, however when you are also manufacturing and trying to sell as many consoles as possible, cloud gaming would not make much sense, except as a complementary feature. I think it is still best to run locally, otherwise your internet data cost goes through the rough, it is simply changing the cost of console for the cost of internet which is more likely to be unreliable.

    I also got waiting time from Dk but this has nothing to do with the evolution of bing. X loud is based on Xbox hardware and that is NOT the hardware used for bing (even suggesting this shows a bing misunderstanding of what we're talking about). The waiting time is simply due to the fact that the xcloud runs with minimal resources (as it doesn't make money) so as soon as there has been a little increase in demand it created a major problem. Moreover, this has nothing to do with Ms vision for cloud gaming that remains unchanged and it's still an feature and few years in the future.

    @Brad Microsoft already said that the game runtime is not sharing infrastructure with Azure. They are dedicated “Xbox” boxes in a datacenter. They are not the general purpose VMs from Azure itself. I don’t think they are directing sharing infrastructure besides core services (i.e. management, networking, etc.) so it wouldn’t make senses to deviate “Xbox cores” to Bing or whatever other service. There must be something else going on…

      “Microsoft said that its Xbox content library will make its service more appealing than competitors such as Stadia. The hardware at launch used Xbox One S-based blade servers, but began to transition to Xbox Series X-based servers in June 2021. Each server initially had four customized Xbox One S-based units for the 2018 teaser, but this was doubled to eight per server in a 2U enclosure for the service's launch in 2019. Compared to the standard Xbox One S, power consumption has been reduced by 30% through processor-specific power tuning. Video output is set for 120 Hz to reduce latency.”

    The only time I use Xbox Cloud is to get challenge points. I have used it very little in the past.
    What I do use QUITE A BIT is the remote play feature. I prefer it much more since I just pick up where I started on a game. Then when I get home, Im in the same spot.
    Might be because I have fiber, but downloading games now just takes so little time. And my connection is so good that I have been able to play games like Doom on remote play to some extent.
