- This is footage of a flight from Oceana to Pax River (home of the Naval Test Pilot School) in 2001. We took two F-14As from our squadron, VF-211, to Pax River to allow the Test Pilot students to fly them, while we were given fun free-for-all hops in T-2s. The T-2 flight was probably the most fun I ever had in a jet.
This was very enjoyable to watch. I was stationed at Oceana from '83-'86 as part of VF-142. Long live the Ghostriders!!!
Nice!
Awesome video!
Thanks brother!
Thank you for posting these and other great videos of Tomcat POVs on this forum. They are not only entertaining to watch, but also provide a glimpse of what it was like to be in a Tomcat while airborne. VF-21, (82-84)
So neat to see this !!!!
As always, a real pleasure to view the ‘action’ from a RIO/NFO’s perspective!
Thanks for sharing, ‘Virus’.
Keep ‘em coming 🙏
Thank you!
Wow, nice shots of the RIO's "fishbowl". Thanks for sharing this!
Yeah you can tell we were between cruises by our lack of PTIDs!
@@TomcatCockpitPOV ok, I was wondering where the upgraded display was. I thought all Tomcats got them as part of the LGB upgrade.
Now this is a Christmas gift. Watching some real backseat footage is a wonderful treat. Thanks Virus!
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely great video Sir! ⚓️🇺🇸👍
Thanks brother!
Na minha opinião, o avião caça mais bonito já fabricado, inclusive o mesmo usado no filme top gum ases indomáveis com o ator Tom Cruise!!!👍👍👍👏👏👏
Thanks for sharing this with me and others who were there and more that are stationed there for Flight Training at the Best of the Best Jet Base area ever and Who would love to be RIO on this Flight. Thank you for your service to all and Happy New Year 2022
Thank you and Happy New Year!
Outstanding!! ⚓🏴☠️
Weird seeing the TID so green haha, used to it being black in games
I was there on the Ramp in 2002
Nice! Oceana or Pax?
vf-24 here watching your channel!
My dad worked on f14s wish they still had them around
they do in iraq oddly enough
@@Haroldclifford-i1u Iran actually but I don’t think they’re gonna keep them for much longer
@@Imadog989 probably not
Lindo video! meus parabéns.
Gracias!
NAS Oceana, 1972, VF-14 Tophatters. Dumping lots of fuel there.
Very excellent sir !
Thank you!
was there pilot students in the F-18 aswell?
No it was from VFC-12 (adversary squadron)
Nice video, thanks. Question: What was the point of a burner break into the pattern when yo want to lose speed prior to the downwind leg? Was it just because you could? or some other reason....looked great by the way :-)
One reason only: to look cool.
@@TomcatCockpitPOV It worked :-)
Do you have any footage of you using the TID with Lantirn ? The Old Fishbowl
No - that wasn’t a thing. Only happens in DCS. Lantirn required a PTID.
@@TomcatCockpitPOV so did you have PTID and non PTID jets in the squadron ?
@@TomcatCockpitPOV I thought they did make Lantirn work with the Old TID. Im not sure if it was just for testing on a few select jets or if they also used the old TID in 1996 for the first Lantirn Deployment with 103
@@McKronenberg We did, but on deployment they were almost all-if not all-PTID.
@@TomcatCockpitPOV Roger That Thank you sir !
3:54 my tax money 💰 flowing into the wind lol.
Long live F/14 Tomcat. The Navy should bring them back. I can keep upgrading the F15 . Bring Back the Tomcat. It still a awesome Jet.😎👍🏾
