Imposter syndrome runs rampant in academia. The intellectual "elite" are as intellectual as they are elite, as in not at all. The envy and bitterness towards more competent or even more intelligent studies or faculty creates a bitter ladder climbing environment where groups use social justice power games to consolidate in-group interests, often using notions of moral purity and virtue as a means to cause harm to others, whilst proclaiming they against the things they engage in. There are no artists in Hollywood, no intellectuals in academia and no moral authorities in the churches. Many are all playing the same progressive stack politics game as a means to be at the top of the junk heap this garbage has left our society in.

While I can't think of anything that would justify kidnapping and physically harrasing a university president....
To be fair a university organization putting a poster up denouncing specific students as "terrorist alies" and promoting "genocide" is the kind of thing you would expect the university administration to step up to stop/curve.
If after some time, then complaints, then and open letter there is still no action by the uni admin, it's not unreasonable students would want to pressure university leadership directly to take action. Just not in that particular way - but then the criticism becomes one of execution, not of the idea itself.

I think you're conflating two separate issues here - the gendered nonsense and its pseudointellectual post-Marxist underpinnings, and the current political issue of Zionist violence against civilians. The latter is not inherently a failure of academic instituyional culture - difficult moral and political issues do arise, and it is in fact a sign of the health of the student body that such issues are aired. Were Zionist or Palestinian discourse conspicuously resulting in self-censorship in academic publications, you might join the two issues as linked improprieties, intellectual treasons - but that is not what is occurring.ù

Academia, in it's current state, will always be dominated by these people.
The main requirement for - current - academic success, is mass memorization. Memorization and comprehension are two completely different things. A mere book - a completely insentient, thoughtless pile of paper - can give you every 'correct' answer, but it is incapable of ever forming a new idea, or testing it's 'correct' answers. Students are made to be books, not thinkers; the side effect of this, is lunacy.
The few people who filled those books, who created the scientific knowledge base, did so through comprehension: they looked at the world around them, analyzed, hypothesized, and tested. Then they kept moving outwards. They went far beyond the 'correct' answer, spending their lives mapping the unknown, and developing the tools to do that mapping, instead of parroting the 'correct'. On the other hand, students are required an original thought.. maybe once, with their thesis? I've known a mentally-handicapped, fifty-year old, life-long dishwasher, who was infinitely more creative.
The capability for scientific-grade comprehension is not inherited or inborn; it is built and maintained. A moron can be taught to think rationally and analytically, albeit very slowly. As can a genius be completely irrational - and forcefully so. When people are trained to do nothing but memorize and parrot, they never learn comprehension - and infact sacrifice the ability, to be better memorizers. Without comprehension, not only does their work suffer, but their ability to management themselves atrophies and perverts; self-management is fundamentally based on comprehension.
Academia thus fosters mental illness. Collect the mentally ill into groups, and they develop cultures which vilify truth and merit, to validate their own crooked minds. That academia is currently dominated by groups who've been historically denied social influence, is entirely coincidental, I'm sure.
