  • The Clever Vans Cleverly is amongst the cheapest campervans in Europe - although please remember that the word cheapest is not at all cheap, and furthermore if something is cheap then there is a reason for it! This van is based on the Citroen Jumper platform, and contrary to widely published claims, cannot be purchased for under EUR30k.
    I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
    In my RUclips channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. Here you will find campervans and motorhomes from the cheapest camper vans to the most expensive luxury liners, from various companies including Hobby, Hymer, Carthago, Westfalia, Wingamm, La Strada, Frankia, Wavecamper, Maurer, Dreamer, Itineo, Rapido, Clever Vans, Pössl, Bürstner, Niesmann Bischoff, Action Mobil, Reisemobil Manufaktur, Robeta, Trigano, Challenger, EuraMobil, Karmann Mobil, Laika, Forster, Mobilvetta Design, Affinity, Globe Traveller, Benimar, Roller Team, Adria, Bocklet, Woelcke,Tourne, Megamobil, VW, Mercedes, CS, Renault, Ford, Fiat, Carado, Sunlight, Baileys, Chausson, Balcamp, Knaus, Weinsberg, Murvi, Bliss, Mitsubishi, Woelcke, Reisemobile Bürow, Holzmobil, Giotti Line, Florium, Fleurette, Ahorn, Westfalia, Space Camper, Orange Work, Concorde, Womondo, Protec, Auto Sleeper, Dethleffs, Ilusion, Gehocab, Malibu, Pilote, Wild Ax, Vantage, Bresler, Tom's Fahrzeugtechnik, Morelo, Swift, Carado and others.
    I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
    I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
    I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

    I enjoyed this tour Alan! Nicely done. The stickers left me in shock. I'm in the US. Prices in the US - Add a 1 before the price. USD $144,000.00 is what we would pay here. We have a generator in ours but that only costs $2500 to $3000 more, so no excuse for the pricing. Huge price gouging in the US for similar size vans.

      I rented one of those in Spain for a week (the first one... the 6m version). Indeed, you can remove one or both of the cupboards from the top bunk so it can sleep an adult. It's shorter than the bottom bunk but would fit someone 1.75m tall. Actually, there's a reasonable amount of cupboard room without the rear cupboards (we left them at home, and had plenty of room).

    • @ThreeFineWonders
      @ThreeFineWonders 2 года назад +1

      @@timprice4644 Huh. If there’s nothing lost by having this system I think this and other removable elements could be really desirable feature.
      How was the build quality…on the flimsy to sturdy scale?

    • @timprice4644
      @timprice4644 2 года назад +1

      @@ThreeFineWonders The removable cupboards were pretty sturdy actually. No rattle whatsoever when on the move, either. I definitely think removable elements, if made properly, make for excellent flexibility. Things we liked: fridge door opening from either side, bathroom just about the right size (not too cramped but not taking up too much space either), the materials used for surfaces were pretty hardy (i.e didn't scratch easily), good amount of overall cupboard room. Things we didn't like so much: some of the finishings were a bit sloppy (some of the floor matting cutting around seats, etc), the top bed is at a fixed height (it can be removed but can't be lowered), which means that it can be slightly claustrophibic for an adult, absolutely fine for kids though..., the swing-out extension to the main table is slightly flimsy (it's on the thin side compared to other brands). Overall though, it was a nice van. It didn't feel cheap, although you definitely do get superior quality from other brands, which you obviously pay for.

    Cleverly is fantastic. It has all the amenities of the most 5.40 camper vans. Why spend more for having "better" sink in the toilet or "better" upholstery ? I would like the double real bed to be height adjustable, but the alternative vans from other companies need an extra 20000 to 30000 euros just for that feature. I think that it is a very good, cheaper alternative that has everything that you require in a camper van. If you do not need the top or bottom bed you can just remove it and use the space for other uses, for example if you have your bikes with you, you can use the top bed for your night sleep and the space below to store them. In some situations it could be used as the main vehicle even for urban environments as it is like a big car.

    Heres a business opportunity. Create a ‘package’ of RV interior assets from a dining setup, wet area (fridge, stove, exh. fan), marine bathroom that contains fiberglass enclosure containing wc, sink water heater and shower. Sell it all or in pieces as a kit along with instruction/installation guide for standard van or cargo trailer conversions! Anything left out (wires, fuses, piping etc.) could be acquired at the home build store.
    Not a project for everyone, but there are enthusiasts with plumbing and electrical experience who will accept the challenge!

    Somehow even though these were "cheap", they felt even cheaper in terms of what you were getting, meaning they didn't seem like great value. Didn't seem to have much insulation, for example, especially when looking at the thickness of the van walls where that upper bunk goes up or down. Meaning it doesn't have as much all-weather use as many motorhomes or campers. Let's face it, a lot of the demand and interest in motorhomes is the ability to have a lot of the comforts of home on the move. Aircon or at least fans for hot weather, and decent insulation to keep the heat in for the cold weather. These vans all looked to be missing that aspect, so all you were really getting over a modern-easy-pop-up tent was a fridge and a small shower...

    • @JanWillemHelmers
      @JanWillemHelmers 2 года назад

      The van has aircon and it has 3 roof vents and 4 opening windows and it's got a diesel heater, a boiler and a compressor fridge, there is no way to now if it has any insulation from this video

    • @VanlifewithAlan

      There is no way to know if any van has insulation from any video because it is hidden.

      @britishknightakaminininja1123 2 года назад

      @@VanlifewithAlan when one can clearly see that a given panel is only an inch thick or less, one can tell for absolutely certain that it cannot have more than an inch of insulation. Insulation materials always have a size cost in terms of the thickness needed to be effective. The indentation where that bunk could raise and lower looked to be extremely noticeable, from several angles. It's a lot like the difference between single-glazing and double glazing - you can see at a glance if it has the space to be effective.

    • @FurnitureFan
      @FurnitureFan 2 года назад +1

      @@britishknightakaminininja1123 It would be great to have the option to buy one that's well-insulated - I should imagine most are by default only meant for summer use, in a temperate climate. But if buying a new one, they might add extra on request.
