The police union should be forced to purchase insurance to pay for these settlements rather than the taxpayers.
Better solution, make the police pay their own insurances. Premiums go up when they mess up on procedure. Eventually they will be broke and have to leave the force.
A policeman's Union it's not considered a corporation a corporation is responsible for creating law enforcement therefore they can obtain a corporate surety bond until the officers can get their own bone this cost was never supposed to be given to the citizens of the city each officer is required to provide his own Bond and a letter of residency to show that that he is being complicit with the law the surety bond and a letter of residency I both given to an insurance company so that the insurance company can draw the bond from the property these individuals are considered employees they do not have an obligation to get a surety bond unless they're true law enforcement but being the fact that they're wearing a uniform that says police they are required to have a bond to perform those duties they do not have a bond then they are impersonating law enforcement or impersonating police patrolman are employees police and law enforcement are appointed that means they are not considered an employee of the government

I have seen both sides in the town I live in and I trust that the police would support me before they would throw me in jail for no reason. Yes there are bad ones, I support that they should be investigated and fired if they are found to be abusive. With the cameras we are seeing that more and more. But we also have citizens following them around and harassing them and refusing to show their license and insurance or pretending to be sovereign citizens which just adds to their work for no reason at all. Like I experienced personally and noted previously (Most Times) the Offending Officers are falsely setting up the justification for assaulting, disrespecting, killing/or out right violating a individuals civil/constitutional rights. I noted the,"don't come near me"!!!!!shout when citizen did not move a centimeter let alone even a inch towards them. As a matter of fact looks like he did a half step back at least twice but I'm sure he knew doing any type of distancing after officers" don't come near me" shout could lead to being tazed or worse since we have individuals being shot in back running away with hands in air. I don't understand what was controversial about this, he was witnessed stealing gas and pulled two weapons out to attack the officer when the officer would be distracted by searching his bag. He had a metal pipe and chain, both can kill. He then resisted arrest. How can you not see what is right there on the video? Why do you want these people left alone to steal from or harm you or your loved ones?

I'm not sure that is accurate. Pain usually makes me say " oh shit, that hurt" "Let me not do whatever is causing these officers to beat my ass". In this case Dont F'ing move, and hands behind your back. I think that might have helped the situation but maybe not.
@@coreybrown964 While I agree there are a lot of cases where the person is pulling away and actively resisting, I have seen a lot of cases where the person is completely limp and the officers still perceive them as resisting. In these cases it appears as if the officers are fighting each other. One officer will pull an arm toward them while another officer feels this and thinks the suspect is pulling their arm away from them, and then pulls the arm back toward them. This makes officer #1 think that the suspect just resisted them pulling their arm toward them, and then they pull it a second time toward them. It becomes a tug of war between the various officers all the while the person isn’t resisting, and is yelling “I’m not resisting!” The officers don’t believe this because they can see and feel the person moving away from them. This escalates the force more and more until the person has been beaten up from pain compliance. Now I obviously know the majority of cases it is the suspect actively resisting. But that doesn’t change the fact that in some cases no matter what you do you can get physically hurt.
